Much, much cheaper home furniture store than most Houston options and for that reason we genuinely usually come here before trying anywhere else. The Flea Market located here at this big expanse of a Plaza, which I remember once being a plaza full of people and is a great place to get dirt cheap goods from little local sellers, is a go to destination, popular in the community, and for this reason we liked it. We come here now and again, especially because the gym we go to is less than a quarter of a mile away from here. Not so busy lately though. So many stores are here, and we miss them. The flea market hasn't been regularly open during coronavirus, but we are all eagerly awaiting their return after coronavirus and we are all hoping that they will indeed get back to being what they were before. That is, a hub of everything for everybody and especially a hub for our needs. So I'm definitely looking forward to that eventuality, such as the return of a great jewelry store that Barbi would love going to, the home furnishing store, and not to mention the soccer store and of course the perfume store that Barbi loves so much. So lots of great things to return so we hope.

This is the place to graduate from your Pier One and World Market furniture ways into real, adult pieces. Movin' on up all Jefferson-style! And way more personal than the warehousey, mazed floors of High Fashion Homes. They are cracking and literally peeling all over. Maybe it's my fault for thinking a $300+ chair would be real leather. These pictures are just one of many spots on 6 different chairs. So we decided to go the custom mattress route; why not support a local business that has been around for years?! That's where Houston Mattress Factory comes in! We found it online and saw some amazing reviews! Decided to go check it out. The outside of the building - very run down. We actually thought about leaving cause 1. It didn't look open and 2. It looked way sketchy! But decided to get out of the car and check it out anyways! And glad we did! The guy working the store, I'm sure it was the owner, was super friendly! We told him what we wanted and he knew exactly where to point us. There were mattresses set up for us to lay in and try.. from that, he got a sense of what we wanted and told us he could make us exactly what we liked, using the materials that we wanted! You can customize the firmness, the material used to wrap the mattress, if you want added foam topper or gel topper.. anything you want! You can even wrap the thing in cashmere if you want!! Lol definitely for the added price but the option is there! We even saw a round bed! Adjustable moving mattresses? Murphy beds? No problem! We got us a firm mattress and he promised he could make it within the week! And he delivered exactly when he said he would! Prices are not horrible; we didn't mind spending slightly more for something that would potentially last longer. He said if we didn't like it, just bring it back and he'll make it right! Just no refunds, cause once the money goes in his wife's wallet, she ain't giving it back! Hah! He definitely liked joking around! He also said that if he mattress starts going soft for sinking anytime within the next 10 years, even if it's 9.5 years, bring it back and he'll cut a hole in it and replace the foam for free!!

Not only did I get something that hasn't been available in department or chain mattress stores for years (a plain polyfoam, not memory foam, mattress, with good quality foam), I got it for less than half the price we paid for our last (memory foam) mattress, from a chain store, a quite number of years (I think over a decade) ago. The mattress is well made and exactly what we like to sleep on - and did sleep on for decades until the department and chain mattress stores (we did not know about mattress factories at the time) stopped carrying it. I chose the firmness with the intention of putting a latex topper on it, which I did, and it's perfect. I personally think plain polyfoam with a latex topper is the only thing to sleep on (I regard attached pillowtops as a scam to see to it that the mattress lasts a shorter time than it could), but this place can make you whatever, I mean ABSOLUTELY WHATEVER, you want - I saw a *lot* of the sample "whatevers"! Oh, and we got some very nice latex pillows (another item in the category of "only thing we sleep on") for a very nice price. Don't be put off by the area or the looks of the place - I'm glad I wasn't. And I'll never buy a mattress from other than a local mattress factory again. I'm surprised it didn't already have reviews, and the service is pretty friendly, but the prices are a little bit on the high side. Most kids these days are on the high side too so you might fit right in.
