My 5 Takeaways (in under 60 seconds)…read more  Location: Ideally located inside a historic building along Washington Street in downtown Columbus, IN. Street parking is available.   Vibe: Classy, upscale, and comfortable. One of my favorite local spots to relax and enjoy a good meal.   Service: Great customer service. The staff is attentive and enjoyable to interact with.   Food: Everything I have ever eaten here, including our most recent visit, has been delicious. Cooked and presented perfectly, with fresh and flavorful ingredients that go well together.   Quick Tip: If available, try the Deviled Eggs - they are always top tier! For an entrée, you can never go wrong with their steaks!

I will start off with the positives: the atmosphere was nice and I was greeted by friendly staff and shown to the bar were I received good service. Now to the reason I would not recommend. I ordered a cocktail from the menu and it was served in less than 20 seconds. Speed is great, but for the price of the cocktail, I was not expecting a cocktail that they had pre-mixed, which was what I was served (and that lack of attention was evident in the flavor). The cocktail wasn't bad, but sure not up to the standards of the price (and price is only an issue in the absence of value). Next came the charcuterie board...it was 3 stacks of salami (not even good salami), pickled beats, raw red onions, raw jalapeno slices, some pitted Kalamata olives, cornichons, a small wedge of brie, a couple of slices of a white cheddar, a tiny scoop of goat cheese, and a raspberry vinaigrette. This all came with a side of boxed crostinis, which I was told "let us know if you need more". When I asked about there only being salami on the board, the staff said, "yeah, its a salami heavy board"...with which I asked, "do you have anything other than salami?" and he said he would ask the chef. 3 minutes later they came out and said that was all they had and did I want another appetizer. All of the other appetizer (3 in total) were not of the same value nor were they what I had come into the restaurant for, so I said "it is fine". I ate 1/4 of the board (the pickled beats were the shinning star) and asked for my ticket, which I assumed would include my $20 cocktail, the bottle of wine I ordered, and some discount for the poor excuse of a charcuterie board, but there was no compromise / disount for their board's lack of variety or quality. I didn't protest, but I certainly want others to know that the quality here certainly isn't worth the price.

Husband and I had garlic bread (comes with cheese) and this was no ordinary cheesy bread. Wonderful flavor with an accompaniment of the aforementioned pesto, feta and even a marinara. Ordered a standard sausage, mushroom onion pizza as we do this at all new Pizza restaurants for a fair comparison to our other favorites. Husband ranked this pizza as his new number one. I enjoyed, but the 'outside ' of the pizza was pretty light on toppings for my personal taste. Husband LOVES crust, me, not so much. Ordered Brussel sprouts so we could feel better about our carb heavy meal and these were top notch as well. Jessie, our server was on top of everything and a delight! Modern atmosphere and spotless. This part of Columbus was so charming. Brick roads, beautiful alleys, and white lights along the road. A cute little walk when we had to park two blocks down the street. We will make this our new stop on the way home from Florida as there were 15 more things we wanted to try!

However, Black sheep was chosen by the family and it was a pleasant surprise. They had several pizza lunch specials and I got the veggie pizza with arugula salad. I asked what the veggies on the pizza were and was told zucchini. That was fine with me and it was still fine when the zucchini turned out to be eggplant! Another diner had the pepperoni pizza with arugula salad. In Both dishes, the arugula was on top of the pizza. (Fru-fru, right?) One diner had a Caesar salad, o e had a Greek salad and I don't recall the third, but, everyone enjoyed everything. We loved the large black metal sheep welcoming us at the door and we enjoyed the silhouettes of black sheep on the wall. Pretty place. Modern and clean. It was a good lunch!

Would I recommend coming here for food? No. Would I recommend coming here for cheap drinks? Yes…read more My husband and I went here last night for dinner after going down to Columbus to watch our niece play her volleyball tournament. They were packed and had trivia going on, but they still had plenty of places to sit inside and on the small patio. We had wanted to sit outside since the weather was nice, so we grabbed a table in the corner on the patio (it is a seat yourself establishment). After a while, a server came over to get our drink orders and we each ordered a water. I asked for a Bud Light on draft, which was listed on their menu, but he told me they only have it bottles and just had Michelob Ultra on draft that was similar. No problem, we each ordered one of those. Some time passed and I saw our server come out onto the patio, look at us, and promptly spin around to go back inside. A couple minutes later he returned with our waters and an apology about the beers taking a long time because "the bartender was too busy talking." I got more of the impression that he forgot to put in our order at all, hence the quick turnaround to get waters when he realized he never came back to our table. We put in our food orders in the meantime- I ordered the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. Drinks came out eventually and were huge/ice cold, which was nice. The food also came out within 10 minutes, which we had initially been happy about because we were so hungry and we still had an hour drive back to Indy. However, my Reuben sandwich had huge, thick chunks of meat vs thinly sliced beef and it was extremely hard to take bites of and took a long time to chew. I had to keep using my hands to rip pieces off the sandwich. There was also hardly any sauerkraut on it. My husband's roast beef sandwich had very little roast beef and absolutely no flavor, but was supposed to have a kick from the horseradish sauce. The sweet potato fries were good though, they just had a little too much salt on them. Overall, we had mixed reviews with our visit. Our beers were only $5.50 each, so that was a crazy good price. Not sure if it's just for trivia night or always like that. Several times throughout our visit we kept getting hit with the smell of cigarette smoke because the patio is off the main sidewalk and no one monitors that people are actually far enough away from the building. Super unpleasant. This is definitely a fun place to meet friends for drinks, but I'd pass on the sandwiches and see if other menu options are better.
