I've hired M & M Home Repair twice: March 2019 and January 2021 to fix broken backyard fence both…read moretimes. Here are pros & cons and my advice if you are thinking of hiring them. PROS + Mike tries to address the cause of the problem. I have lost a total of 7 fence posts in the past 5 years because they rot. Mike used the Rotbloc Wrap to prevent the posts from rotting under the ground. + Mike was able to give me a free estimate and repaired my face. There were delays but he did it in the end. I tried to get a quote from big names in town, but I couldn't. CONS -Both times when I hired Mike, there was a problem with details, some big, some small. First time (2019), his crew fixed my fence but didn't do a good job. He had to come back to fix it himself. Second time (2021), I notice that one of the posts was longer and a few of them were shorter than other posts. He fixed the post that was too long, but there was nothing that could be done with the two posts that are too short (by about 6 inches). ADVICE *Make sure to inspect the site when they are done to make sure everything looks good. *Get quotes from other contractors. I found out later that a Yelper friend of mine in town hired a different contractor and paid less than half of what I paid. I could be comparing apples and oranges, but both he and I had 4 posts replaced in January 2021. Send me a private message if you want to know who my Yelp friend used. *Pay cash/check. There's a 3.9% processing fee for credit card payments. Overall, I'm happy with M & M, and I think I will use them again. However, I would definitely get a quote from other contractors first. ************************************************************ Don't forget to like my review (useful and/or cool)! Dave did a fantastic job understanding what I wanted, and his pricing was fair for the request. He and his crew built a beautiful, simple, and modern wood fence design that works well with the aesthetics of my house while being functional, working with the slight slope of my yard, and keeping my small dog from wandering into the neighbor's yard. Would definitely work with Dave on future projects and recommend him and his crew.

Even though Alex was busy and booked up, he gave me free advice on how to remedy the problem: "If you were to attend Home Depot with the photos, they will be able to advise an appropriate compound to repair the MDF material. It's relatively simple to trowel on with a putty knife and lightly sand after. The trick is to not apply too much compound, being better to do multiple coats that one thick one. Hope this helps." This stood out from a few other e-mails that I received. I have to find someone else to get this particular work done quickly, but I really appreciate the extra time that Alex took to offer a recommendation. Hope to try Better Under in the future. Thanks! He began doing smaller jobs for me - stripping and sealing stairs, painting rooms and troubleshooting a temperamental oven - and ended up putting my upstairs together after mold remediators demolished much of it. TJ and his crew put up walls, rebuilt window frames, added trim, hung lights, tiled my shower (beautifully!), built a linen closet, added an attic platform and a pull-down staircase and even built an oak vanity to fit my small bathroom. For years I'd deferred much of this work because I knew no one truly capable of or interested in dealing with such a wide variety of issues/tasks. Once I found TJ and realized how versatile, capable and meticulous he was, I had him do just about everything. My house is now shipshape. TJ takes much pride in doing a thorough and beautiful job.
