We typically go to this one because it's prices are pretty solid for the area compared to our normal hometown. Today we went in, daily smokers and have been on a fast when we came back into town for the summer to pay for gas instead of weed, so we got paid and went in first thing this morning. Paid together, because we share between the two anyways. I asked for 2 disco dab grams, 24$ is the total, my partner still looking over his options. It took him a minute and he asked for the joints he wanted, and while she was grabbing them he asked if they did a military discount. 95% of the dispensaries we've gone to in and out of state offer these discounts. Whenever he asks if they have it, he is always kind, and if they don't, he usually buys anyways and never puts up any arguments. He never expects it, nor feels entitled to it, but we're frugal so hell yeah we are gonna ask if it's something they do. She said, "yes, but not for anything under 25$" we were obviously making a purchase of more, and my boyfriend just kinda paused and said, "oh that's kinda silly." But he was saying it to me. To which she made a very condescending response, "Do you ask for a military discount when you go to the liquor store?" Both my partner and I are recovered alcoholics. Not only was the comment completely unwarranted, it was insensitive as fuck. If we hadn't already made the purchase we would've gone to the Oregon bud company instead. Not to mention regardless of us being alcoholics, because it's not like I expect her just know we're alcoholics, the comparison of alcohol to marijuana is such a moot point. Just because some people use it recreationally as a social drug doesn't mean it doesn't have real medical value to others. There's is a massive suicide rate for our veterans in this country. A lot of them attributed to ptsd and being given cocktails of pills from drs to manage it. AND DING DING DING, you guessed it, alcohol abuse. A lot of military veterans do use it to manage not only physical pain and discomfort brought on from their deployments overseas, seeing combat, and sometimes coming home with life changing physical disabilities not to mention helps tremendously with PTSD, which my partner has all of. This is considered medicine to alot of people both civilians and vets. Disabled vets live on limited incomes, and sometimes at the end of the month they're grasping at Pennies until they're paid again. So to say that's silly, was just a speculation on his part. Not an argument. But yes in theory, if we did go to a liquor store, we would ask if it was offered. We literally ask everywhere. Also to note, he may have to put his dog down today, and he's dealing with alot emotionally. Not everyone walking into a weed shop on the coast is having a killer day. So maybe stow the attitude and have a little empathy? Or like, maybe don't work in a dispensary where you have to interact with people you obviously aren't interested in being nice to at all. Girl bye.
