We have been traveling for two months , from crowded rv park to crowded rv park all over this country and today was the first time I was approached by the manager at precisely 11:07 (check out time 11:00) to tell me I had to get moving cuz check out was 11:00.
Let me the paint the scene for you: husband is outside unhooking the hoses (just like the people in the spot right next to us are doing), I'm standing in the kitchen tying and strapping everything closed for moving, and my two kids are crying and fighting over one of the gazillion things they find to fight over in any given day. And then 2 managers roll up in a golf cart, the glaring one gets out to approach me and barks at me that "checkout was at 11:00" I knew the time was 11:07 cuz I had checked the time as soon as I saw him walking up to my door.
I say "I know, I'm sorry, we'll be out of here in 10 min, you know how it is" and give an apologetic smile while gesturing to the kid-chaos.
He sneers and snaps "No, I DONT know 'how it is' - Checkout was 11:00"
(I'm in disbelief at this point cuz, well, it's literally 11:07!! and we are OBVIOUSLY getting ready to leave cuz we're bustling around unhooking and strapping and doing all of the "leaving things")
He's not happy (even hostile). Says some other things about the park being "booked solid" as he's walking away. (Newsflash Buddy: ALL the parks are booked solid. And NEVER ONCE has anyone approached me for over staying our reservation, because at the most we may have been 15 min late getting on the road- AT THE MOST). To approach me in an aggressive manner at 11:07 is absurd.
And I'm not some fragile, PC snowflake who's offended over little thing either - but THIS behavior I did find offensive. It was 11:07 for Gods sake. (you can see we're packing up and you can hear the kids adding to this stress - you could choose to show just a teeny bit of grace to your guests, but you chose to come barreling up to their door barking because it's SEVEN MINUTES PAST CHECKOUT)
(Keep in mind he hasn't said a word to the folks next to us who are doing the exact same moving day ritual that we are at this time)
We stayed in this park for one night. Didn't even put the awning or any camping gear out. We were in for a night and on the road by 11:15 the next morning. We try to stick w the mom & pop rv parks as much as possible because we know what it's like to be a small business owner. During the 16 hrs or so while we were there, we donated 8 dvds to their complimentary dvd exchange library (cuz I'm accumulating so many). We didn't complain about the 3 candy bars we bought from their vending machine, all of which had been expired for over a year. I wasn't even going to go online to warn future campers that there is a loud blaring freight train that runs right alongside this park and blows its horn ALL. DAY. AND. ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Furthermore, if an RV park is going to advertise that they have "wifi" they should have WiFi. I wasn't even able to log on to do my banking from my phone while I was there. But like I said, no biggie. These things still did not compel me to write a review on this place, I was compelled to do so by this man's behavior. So that's my honest review.
Note: the guy staying in the lot across from me came to chat me up and complain that the managers reprimanded him for placing his small portable charcoal grill on the grass in his campsite. (They are really strict about the grass here, there are signs everywhere that say DO NOT PLACE MATS OR RUGS OR ANYTHING ON THE GRASS). They made him move his grill 2 feet over onto the gravel next to where his tow vehicle was parked. For whatever that's worth. read more
