Where do I begin? Made an appointment with him on a Sunday for the Wednesday several days later, and he texted me that same day (on a Sunday!) to get more detail to best prepare for more appointment. He called when I was free, and in chatting with me he realized that it had been a rough road for me over the last couple of months and was eager to help. He suggested that I actually come into his office the next day instead(!). Fast forward to appt time, he took my lengthy history of sinus issues, persistent coughing, constant congestion, the works. You could almost see the wheels turn as he tried to put the puzzle pieces together to proactively help me with all of my symptoms that I was experience and figure out the best solution to alleviate them for me. He spent 70 minutes with me, listening, talking, allergy testing, asthma testing to get to the bottom of it. In this day and age when doctors cutting appointments short is rampant, it was so refreshing to be heard and to feel like I had an expert in my corner who wanted to help me feel better as much as I did. read more

A doctor who truly cares! I had gone to dermatologist after dermatologist trying to determine why I was having allergic-reaction-type breakouts on my face. My new allergist said ,"Of course we can get your records from Dr. F." Well, no, they couldn't. I can't find Dr. F, they can't find Dr. F. The staff in his Hillcrest office (shared with another doctor) have no information, the office rental agent has no information. First time going to an allergist and I was so impressed with the staff as well as all Of the in depth testing the doctor did. Very meticulous and he used very state of the art equipment. I woke up one morning with what felt like allergy-like congestion after having a sore throat for a week and I surmised I should check in with an allergist because my symptoms seemed to start the same time each year. I was truly in the worst pain and discomfort of my life and driving to Dr.F's office was truly a task for me as my head was heavy and I was crying at the wheel. First off, I had to wait an inordinate amount of time upon arrival. I was eventually pulled in from the waiting room to be told that this waiting time was due to trouble with my insurance, which was made clear to me that this was a total inconvenience for them. So on top of my headache I felt guilty because I was told I had put the office off schedule. I had never visited an allergist before so when I was finally put in a room with the Doctor's assistant (a young attractive Asian woman) I wanted to make sure I was thorough so I could help predict what might be the cause of my ailment. She would snicker as though I was being too thorough as I recounted my medical history, like I was not getting to the point quick enough. It was quite condescending and rude, she needs help with her skills in this arena, she seems much better suited for lab work than working with clients. I got placed in the waiting room again and told this was because I had put the office behind and they needed my check up room. I was eventually called back to get my allergy testing done and it was uncomfortable. I am a very young looking person, but being in my 2nd year of my doctoral program I know how important it is to align with the client and make them feel as though their issues are of the utmost importance. When he discovered my that my head pain was coming from an ear infection he recommended an antibiotic. I explained to him that I had a troubled past with antibiotics to which he acted insulted. I was merely just trying to ask him if he thought there was another way, to which he got frustrated and said, "I'm not an ear Doctor, do you want to go to one?". It was rude and unsympathetic... You're obviously not an ear Doctor but I visited your office because I was in pain. I wish there had been more respect. I continued to ask questions about whether my chronic TMJ could've caused a fluid build up, I felt like this wasn't a difficult question, but was met with responses that insinuated I was being quite a bother. What patient wants to go to a doctor that makes them feel like a waste of time? Not cool. I guarantee Dr.F is an exceptional allergist and I am sure it is not an easy career. This review is based off the icky feeling I had in the office, like the staff didn't want me there and didn't care. Olivia, however, is not only beautiful, she is caring, empathetic, and kind! What a wonderful part of my experience. I was extremely lucky to have her help all morning with the insurance company and directions to the office. She was helpful, cordial, empathetic, and sunny. I've suffered from allergies for long time, when I decided to go to an allergist I found a same day appointment through zocdoc. With dr. Feigenbaum so I booked it. Olivia called me and send me the required forms to fill up, and the direction to the office. When I arrived to the clinic in la Jolla site dr. Feigenbaum was friendly and I did the skin test with baaaaad reaction to some of allergen we had to stop it and dr. Feigenbaum managed it and was really keen and caring I had to wait in the office till the swelling decreased to an extend. He checked up on my condition through email. He explained to me allergy test results and how should I avoid the trigerrs to manage my symptoms. For anyone who suffer from allergies I highly recommend dr. Feigenbaum. read more

I went to Dr. Feigenbaum because I was having horrible allergies in San Diego this past year. The second I found him online, I knew he was going to be great (I mean he has an average of 5 stars on Yelp!) From the beginning I noticed he is very tech-savvy so you can expect to easily get ahold of him via phone, email, etc. Initially when I went in (Hillcrest Location), he performed Allergy testing to check exactly what I was allergic to. His tests showed me everything I needed to know and I was finally able to get some much needed relief from my horrible allergies. He is an allergy specialist so he definitely knows what he is doing and I have no doubt he could help almost anyone. He is always on time (rare for most Doctors), always courteous, and always looking for the best way to help you. There is no better allergist around! read more

Dr. Feigenbaum is great. I visited twice (once for food allergy testing and one for airborne allergens) and both times were very educational. He took the time to discuss potential symptoms and things I can change in order to avoid asthma symptoms. His assistant Olivia was very helpful and ensuring our insurance covered our visits. She also sent a few emails prior to my visit to ensure I wouldn't go into the appointment unprepared. Dr. Feigenbaum also provided me a food elimination diet that would help me pinpoint any potential food allergy problem areas. Dr. Feigenbaum is the second allergist I've seen in my lifetime. I personally suffer from both allergies and asthma so having a specialist who was knowledgeable in both was very key to me. His hours are fairly flexible (my appointment was at 5 PM) in that I was able to leave work a little early and make it. The reviews are on point, we started my appointment at 5:03 PM, extremely on time and I love that. It was my first appointment so it ran about an hour long and he kept my financial concerns when prescribing me medicines. read more

Even scheduling my first appointment with Olivia, Dr. Feigenbaum's admin, was very easy - yet still thorough. Then, Dr. Feigenbaum called me before I even went in for my first appointment! As soon as he saw my complicated paperwork, he called me and we had a 20 min conversation! When I went in for my first visit, I was with him and his team for 2 hours, as he had time on a Friday afternoon with no other scheduled patients, and we had a ton of information to cover. He is very easy to get ahold of, is open-minded in his approach to diagnosing and working through various problems, is extremely thorough in his approach, and quite friendly and approachable. He put me on an elimination diet, and referred me to another specialist. I attempted to make an appointment but connected directly to Dr. Feigenbaum himself, later found out he had moved to CA. So I didn't really get to see him but talked to him on the phone for a few minutes. Anyways, he sounds like a really fun person and said a lot of good things about my current doctor (they are good friends! He said when he moved to CA from NY he referred all his patient to my current doctor. What a small world!). It is amazing how he was curious about patient's thoughts and want to know their experiences, and takes the time to talk, instead of wanting to finish up the call and put down the appointment on the calendar. Stephanie was very helpful on the phone. She was really detail oriented and made sure that I had the right paperwork so Dr Feigenbaum maximizes his time with me during my appointment. Christina greeted me on day of appointment, she was friendly and professional. I came 15 minutes early - fearing that I would get lost and not find parking in time. I was in the comfortable waiting room 15 minutes pass my appointment time. I see later why that is because Dr. Feigenbaum took his time to answer all of my questions and concerns about my skin condition. So the 15 minute wait was acceptable. I work in the health science industry so I know how important it is for the staff and doctor work as a team to provide the best healthcare possible for their patients. Dr. Feigenbaum and his entire staff are amazing. I originally contacted Dr. Feigenbaum's office due to gastrointestinal issues that had persisted for over 4 months. I had seen several general physicians as well as gastroenterologists and had a series of tests done to figure out the source of my stomach problems. After ultrasounds, CT scans, and even a colonoscopy nothing was concluded and they sent me on my way with the standard "maybe its IBS". I had tried cutting out foods but nothing was conclusive and daily I felt horrible. That's when a family member recommended seeing an allergist. I searched decided that driving an hour to give Dr. Feigenbaum a try would be worth it and I am so glad I did. I spoke with Jake on the phone who was so helpful and informative. Normally when you call a new office they are very vague and without a referral skeptical. But he was so understanding and took down all my information. The best part was he sent all the office paperwork and questionnaire's through email so you could spend time on them and Dr. Feigenbaum can review everything before seeing you. I was scheduled within 2 days my initial call. When I arrived I met with Liz, Dr. Feigenbaum's assistant, and she was so kind and took all my information, she makes you feel very comfortable. Dr. Feigenbaum first recommended a allergy skin test for foods and it is so thorough. They test from common allergies, like wheat and milk, down to different vegetables. Since that test came back with know significant allergic reactions. Dr. Feigenbaum recommended an elimination diet for food sensitivities. I went home and followed his instructions strictly within 3 days I felt amazing! better than I had in 4 months. I went back to see him and he recommended the reintroduction process. Through his diet I have narrowed down that Dairy/Cheese as well as soy give me reactions. It has been so beneficial to know what doesn't agree with your digestive system and triggers an inflammatory response. Great and caring doctor and team all the way around. read more

Dr. F is probably the best or one of the best doctors I've ever had (as a chronically ill kid growing up and as an adult who moves often thanks to work and school). He doesn't try to push medications or invasive procedures on you, and doesn't let you off the hook until he knows what's wrong (which is a good thing). I came to Dr. F because I had a doctor who, despite apparently non-asthmatic looking breathing tests, diagnosed me with asthma and kept prescribing higher dose of inhaler and steroid after higher and higher dose - all while I kept saying how I didn't feel it was working. ~$1000+ in inhaler fees and copays (copays with my GP were ~$25 each, and inhalers are all apparently not generic and roughly $300 each) later I finally decided to up and see a specialist and it took only a month and a half (technically less) to find out I don't have asthma, I don't need inhalers, and the treatment needed for what I have is dirt cheap. Aside from cost comparison the staff is awesome, and this is the first doctor who hasn't rolled their eyes at my needle phobia (and instead told jokes during allergy testing so it wasn't as awful). Also, while other doctors I've had have had outrageous wait times, Dr. F runs exactly on time and sets timers when he has more than one patient so even if you're there for 1h, you're not aimlessly waiting in a waiting room. All good things on top of being a great doctor. read more

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 7. It has taken me 23 years to find anyone close to what I experience with my first hospitalization, humor and kindness. Dr. F is one of the best, and I am incredibly thankful I have him as my doctor. I needed to be on a medication to control my breathing, but was incredibly hesitant. I had some reactions to a couple inhalers and turned into a annoying hater (these were prescribed by other doctors). Dr. F found something that worked and I felt comfortable using. Even recently, Dr F. and Luke went out of their way to make sure my medication was affordable. I had went to the pharmacy for a refill on a important and needed inhaler. I learned that my insurance would not cover much of it's cost (a very frustrating thing). I called Dr. F's office. Luke was able to find a coupon that gave me a discount on the medication for the next year. A very huge discount! For allergies, I am 95% better. I was struggling and even considered moving away from San Diego. After my move to San Diego in 2011, I had to take Zyrtec daily so I would not die. After awhile it stopped working. When I saw Dr. F the first time my allergies were so bad that if a person who owned a cat got near me, I would react severely. He was able to find another medication that worked for both seasonal and even animal allergies. For the first time in a very long time, I was recently able to hold and pet some friends cats and dogs with very little reaction. This was huge for me, as I would have normally needed to take a Benadryl, plus my rescue inhaler to fight the allergy attack. The whole experience has made me a lot less of a hater. I am very thankful for all his time and awesomeness! read more

Dr. Feigenbaum is the best allergist around. I was taking a lot of unnecessary asthma medications that I had been put on by another allergist and he was able to get me off of them safely and quickly. My life has definitely improved since coming off of those medications. It's very easy to make an appointment and get seen within the week. Medication refills are no problem as well unlike some doctors. He's very easy to talk to and is very understanding. I would recommend him to anyone with allergies and/or asthma. read more

I highly recommend Dr Feigenbaum to anyone who needs an allergy doctor. I traveled to see him twice from San Francisco as I had heard he was highly regarded in California. I had a very complex food allergy for which a previous allergy doctor was unable to find a root cause. Within 30 minutes of hearing all of my exposures to really bad anaphalaxis reactions, Dr. Feigenbaum was able to find a theory for a rare allergy condition as to my allergy. Dr Feigenbaum is the FeigenBOMB! He is an absolute genius! About a year and a half ago, my youngest daughter was constantly being misdiagnosed for Asthma. Hands down the most enjoyable doctor's visit I've ever had. I had such a fun time chatting with Dr. Feigenbaum and his staff. I told him about how I volunteer with refugees and he ordered me a dust-mite-free pillowcase to be sent to my home from Amazon as a gift because he says I'm a "do gooder" and it was the least he could do!! My body was not responding to any of the allergy tests and he did NOT give up! We figured it out in the end and I feel so relieved and at the same time, so encouraged by good humans in this world.
