I live in LA and am in Albuquerque several times a year on business. The officers I see either at gas stations or a lunch spot (thankfully not in my rear view mirror) always look very professional. Today I was driving on 5th Street NW next to an SUV with a cruiser following on my left lane. I had my window down and we stopped at a red light I looked over and the officer nodded. Nice gesture and he didn't have to do that. Always appreciate what these guys/ gals do - they never get enough credit. Most of the time it's fake news selling what they did wrong. We want you there. I stopped along the freeway at Commanche and I 25 to confront the guy . I had a bb gun in my hand. later as I was detained for questioning she asked me about a gun I told her yeah I had a pellet pistol and pointed it at the dirt in front of his car, pointed it at the dirt, oh did I say that. I told her the bb gun was on the seat of my Silverado, but being the fine police specimen she is she refused to look. Instead she arrested me the one who called 911 for help at the age of 66 I was thrown in jail. the problem is is that APD gives any POS a gun and says go enforce the law and it was pretty obvious that this young Asian lady was about the dumbest police officer I ever met. conclusion, if you get in trouble and need help in Albuquerque do not call 911 or eve 242-cops.

I was recently in a HUGE...and I mean HUGE accident on I-40 and Eubanks. Nine cars, shut down…read morethree lanes of I-40. There were police cars, firetrucks, ambulances, helicopters, news cameras, and a butt load of mayhem. Luckily no one was seriously injured. My car was absolutely smashed. I was sitting still and was smashed by the side--but on to the review of the attending police. They were polite and most concerned about the people who might be injured first. They checked me and my daughter repeatedly, as did the EMT. They did the basic stuff--took a statement, got the information from all the drivers, etc. Then they did the whole above and beyond stuff. The car rental place my insurance prefers were out of cars. The officer got on the phone with them and they found me a car. Another officer drove us to the rental place. And I was still so shaken up that they took care of all the details for me. I've never been in a big wreck like that. Thanks to the police I got all the information I needed for my insurance, for the wrecker service, for the car rental place, and for my shaken up munchkin. I'm from Dallas and we have a good Police Department. However, I've been in a small wreck here and the police were sort of--good luck with that. Albuquerque Police were awesome!

As such, I am in a good position to evaluate the City of Albuquerque. Albuquerque is the best of cities, Albuquerque is the worst of cities, it is a city of beauty, it is a city of ulgy, it is a city with wealth, it is a city of crime and poverty, it is a city of mountains, it is a city of valleys, it is a city of red, it is a city of green, it is a city of science, it is a city of superstition, there are too many people living in this desert, and there are not enough people living in this oasis, there are an infinite number of good restaurants, there are no good places to eat, it is a great place to raise a family, it is the worst place for a kid to grow up, it is a city of hot air balloons, it is a city of cold water rivers, it is a city of hot and dry days, it is a city of dark and stormy afternoons - in short, I believe that Albuquerque has only one face: that of a violent contradiction. Visited this fountain on a road trip, ending in an ABQ Braking Bad tour that we created for…read moreourselves. The plaza this fountain sits in was used in an episode of Breaking Bad and was right across the street from our Hyatt Regency hotel. We reached the plaza and fountain at the end of the day so it made the lights in the fountain rather cool looking. Seems like a nice place to play in the water, but I'd keep an eye out for the multiple homeless people (most of which seemed to be on drugs). Keep a tight reign on your children if this is your version of an inexpensive water park.
