If I could submit a 'minus star rating' I would. My advice to any potential customers of Ms Daly of Bernadett's Florists is to avoid the establishment like the plague! I wanted to send my sister-in-law a surprise bouquet of flowers on her 60th birthday and foolishly decided that instead of using a faceless national company it would be nice to support a local independent business. BIG MISTAKE| I got the name of this florist through the internet search engine GOOGLE and phoned to enquire whether they would be able to deliver to a local address. Ms Daly was most pleasant over the phone and took my order guaranteeing delivery on the big day. Alarm bells started to ring when she asked me to send a cheque because they no longer had the facility to accept payment over the phone. Never-the-less I went ahead with the order (what is that saying about listening to your instinct?) even though I thought it odd that the flowers would be delivered before the cheque had time to be cashed. I sent the cheque for £35 that day. Much to my relief the flowers were delivered on time and my sister-in-law was delighted with them. However she was less than delighted three weeks later when she received a very threatening visit from the diminutive Ms Daly demanding payment. Ms Daly was claiming that she had received no cheque and was demanding immediate payment. My concerned and shaken sister-in-law phoned us while Ms Daly was still in her house to ask us for advice. We had been ignorant of the fact that the cheque hadn't arrived (if Ms Daly is to be believed), Ms Daly had not contacted us despite having our phone number and address. I spoke with her and received a torrent of verbal abuse. I have had to stop the initial cheque costing me £10 and spend a further £4.10 on 'signed for' delivery to safeguard my fearful sister-in-law from another aggressive encounter (which was threatened this morning). I tried to speak with Ms Daly to offer direct and immediate payment via internet banking but got a shouted further threat and a slamming down of the phone. I have written a letter to the woman explaining that the police will be contacted if she pays another intimidating visit to my sister-in-law . I heartily regret using Bernadett's Florist - what should have been a lovely memory of a special birthday has turned into a most unpleasant and unsavoury experience. read more
