You've got to love a florists. The smell as you walk in is possibly the best bit - leaving the noisy, traffic-choked Pershore Road and being engulfed by the sweet smell of nature. Ahhhhh... Sniff it, people.
This particular florist is a little unusual for a couple of reasons. FIrstly, there didn't seem to be actually all that many flowers. They have a lot of general decorative paraphernalia, which is nice, but they mostly take orders for flowers, hence not being knee-deep in gerberas. They are also next to the Co-op funeral parlour, which is, of course, sensible, but also a little morbid. For people that just want some flowers to brighten up the place, that is, rather than being constantly reminded of death. In fact, there is an adjoining door between the two businesses, which, again, is all very practical but just seems a bit.... conveyor-belt funeral style to me.
They clearly also cater for happier occasions also, with lots of 'New Baby' displays, which brightens the place up a bit. Birth, death and flowers. I'm guessing that's why they call it 'Hearts and Flowers'. The staff are smiley and helpful also, which is a plus. read more
