This was one of the last record stores I checked out while in Berlin, and more or less just stumbled upon it. However, after flipping through its racks and seeing the selection, I'm really surprised their name did not figure more prominently when I researched vinyl joints in the city.
To my dismay, many stores in Berlin did not do a great job dividing out or calling out how they organized their indie/alternative stock. Sometimes it was mixed into new wave, other times punk, other times rock, and other times it was a combination of them all! However, Funhouse very clearly marked out both the indie/alternative (and britpop!) selections, in addition to many other popular sub genres.
While I only picked up a single record, it wasn't due to lack of good selections (more just that I've seemed to reach that point where the next wantlist record is farther and fewer inbetween.) I would definitely stop here again next time I'm visiting and would be highly surprised if I didn't walk away with a record or two. read more
