I could tell you every experience I've had here .. or I can tell you that 2 months after my soul dog passed away I came back from my walk with my other dog after walking the same trail I've walked for years with my dog who passed and on that walk I was thinking , I wonder if the trees along our walk miss him . My dog had an abscess tooth and my regular vet couldn't take him on a Friday so my only choice was emergency vet or call around. Luckily Berkeley Vet was able to squeeze me in and see my dog. I was able to get him antibiotics so his condition didn't get worse over the weekend. I have switched vets since then and am grateful that they were able to help my baby on short notice. I feel their prices are a little high but they treat your pet like a human so everything does cost a lot out of pocket. I don't like the prices but I do like their service so I'm still going there. read more

We began going to Berkeley Veterinary Center about a year ago, after trying a few local vets. I decided to stay with Berkeley Veterinary Center for a few positive reasons. My doberman was scene by both vets, but mainly Dr. Wes. The whole entire staff members from the veterinary doctors, vet techs, and front desk staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Myself & my doberman enjoy the open seating area that is separate for dogs and cats. They don't ask you to wait in the vehicle, like the covid days. They are very aware of my dobermans personality and make her feel like a queen. She looks forward to her peanut butter and cheese lick pads. They make every experience both a pleasure for myself and my dog. My doberman very recently had her spay surgery. The incision is clean & healing well. Lastly, I don't feel rushed when I ask questions. I get a thorough visit each time I am there. This is 100 percent our new vet. read more

I couldn't have been happier to find a kind and caring staff Diana Brigid and Doctor Wes Darcy! Happy our dog is a little shitzu/ maltase. He's 16 and was so sick. I took him to North Star in Brick who were also incredible. I needed a Veterinarian for a follow up appointment and looked on line for surrounding areas. I also needed a night appointment and they had them. The amount of time and understanding and kindness that was shown to Happy was unprecedented! They took into consideration of all his needs and quirks. Literally they got on the floor with him to reassure him he was in good hands! Dr Wes was attentive and answered probably over a dozen questions. He never got annoyed nor did Diana and Brigid. I had asked about clipping his nails . The groomer does it but it is like the WWF! I was talking with the doctor and before I knew it the nails were done. NoTRAUMA FOR HAPPY!!! So thankful for all of you and so thankful HAPPY has a new place he can feel safe at. For those of us for whom our pets are family, finding caring professionals willing to go out of their way to help is very important . When the help is with genuine concern and a genuine smile, it is great. I can say with much appreciation that the people at Berkeley do just that ! They graciously "rescued" my little 13 year old who had refused his medication while visiting family in Toms River. He has chronic injuries and needs his meds to get through the day. Benjamin was not an existing patient,, but when they learned about the situation, they agreed to help. From the first call , they could not have been nicer. From the practice manager to Vet Tech Bridget they cared for my dog as if they had known him forever. I can safely say that they have a new friend in me and in Benjamin . My dog got badly injured in dec 22 .it was close to closing time on a Saturday .I called Berkeley vet and told them what happened. They stayed open and waited for me to bring my dog in. I really thought I'd have to bring him to one of those vet hospitals but they waited and took great care of my dog and he made a full recovery. This is a great place to bring your pet especially dr tony who my dog likes. The vet drs and the staff you can tell really love animals and I highly recommend this berkeley vet center. read more

Our Barney had his first visit with Dr. Tony. The atmosphere in the facility is so pleasant and calm. We were greeted by Erin who offered a treat for Barney right off. There was a nice little coffee area for us humans with an incredible seated area-one side for cats and the other side for dogs. Each had their own entrance- How Clever! Anyone who has a pet knows how traumatic it is for "all" of us. My Barney wagged his tail in happiness from the moment we went inside-during his exam, nail cutting, anal gland and vaccine injection. There were no surprises during payment, everything was detailed and explained. They even take the "CARE" Credit Card I understand. Although we had a different Vet Service before-something just did not feel "right". We came here because of the great reviews and we sure would recommend Berkeley Veterinary Center to everyone. I cannot say enough how wonderful the entire staff is at the Berkeley Vet Center. From the girls in the reception area to the techs, and especially Doctors Tony and Alyssa. My cat Injested flea tick medicine and i brought her to the vet right after she started licking it and panting breathing weird and making noises I went in there and the receptionist was very rude telling me i used dog medication. To prove her wrong I made my fiancé go get the packaging. while i was there waiting and asking for someone to see my cat she kept answering the phone saying there was an emergency that walked in (me) but yet kept answering phone calls. When my fiancé left She told me to sit down and wait for him so we can leave. I asked her if my cat could be seen and she proceeded to tell me there are no doctors available and to bring my cat home and monitor her yet clearly this was not a good situation the receptionist even said the cat looking in serious distress so she basically turned me away said to call the 1800 number on the packaging and ask the manufacturers what to do, are you serious I got angry and left and then while I was leaving she said do you want a doctor to see the cat? Did you not just tell me you had no doctors to see her? I don't understand what the rude behavior was for and the fact that they are open and state emergencies on the website but couldn't help in a true emergency. I was cat-sitting my daughter's pet Alfie when he needed care and I am so happy I found Dr. Forster, Dr. Tony, and their whole team. They listened to my observations and concerns, and they took the least invasive route possible. Everyone was rooting for Alfie, and he was back to himself by the end of the weekend. I had brought my pitty baby Zeus into Berkeley Vet quite a few times and care was always mediocre. Typically he see's Dr. Alyssa and does get some anxiety at the vet. Before they do neutering they require bloodwork so Dr. Alyssa recommended I give him Trazodone 12 hrs and 2 hrs before the appointment I did this and it was not "strong enough" for Zeus and they could not get the blood work. She then gave me Gabapentin to give to him with the Trazodone again 12 hrs and 2 hrs before.. 8 PILLS TOTAL. I listened and gave it to him took him on Saturday morning for the second time to get bloodwork. This time Zeus saw Dr. Tony even after they said it would be Dr. Alyssa. We have met him once before and really wasn't a fan so we always see Dr. Alyssa.. Well they take Zeus back and god only knows what they did to him because when Dr.Tony brought him back into the room to me he was extremely distraught, Zeus was barking at him and could sense something was off. Dr. Tony proceeds to tell me "this dog is a problem child and drugs arent always the answer" and he ripped him by his leash to make him stop barking... That did not work and he threw the leash at me.. I never wanted to "drug" my dog but it was what HIS VET RECOMMENDED. Zeus ran and sat down next to me on the bench and continued to bark at him, Dr. Tony then proceeds to say "you think you're a tough guy because your next to your mom now huh".. After a very unpleasant visit before exiting the room Dr. Tony says "yeah Pitbulls wouldn't be my first choice of dogs.." Needless to say we will not be returning for his neutering! read more

Throughout the years, I have taken three separate pups to another Veterinarian just up the road from Berkeley Veterinary Center. I didn't have a terrible experience there, but I always felt as if something was missing. Yesterday's first-time visit to Berkeley showed me just how much was missing. Upon being greeted (which was immediately), Sora (my eleven week old Shiba Inu) and I sat down in their quaint waiting area. I was surprised at how small yet cozy the office was, complete with the usual literature and office ambiance. It was very clean, and well proportioned (yes, I notice things like that). We were called back in less than five minutes and that's when we met Taylor. Taylor was awesome! She was attentive, professional, kind to Sora and conversational. Most of all, she was personable! I can not tell you how my past vet experiences have left me forgetting the technician's name because he/ she was as dry as a tree-stump. Once her initial exam was done, in came Dr. Tony. Another awesome one! Again, as I described Taylor, Dr. Tony was personable and informative, professional and kind. We spoke about our pets, our families and he could have easily been there for over fifteen minutes. We left with a complete puppy gift-bag, and a new set of expectations that were set by this awesome staff. Overall, experience was like no other... warm, friendly and personable yet professional and informative. Pricing was comparable to past veterinary experiences, and by no means unreasonable. Let me specify the actual veterinarian was nice , her "staff"not so. I had called a few times with questions regarding my dogs care and billing questions and I always received a cold and not very knowledgeable response. You would think people who worked with animals wound be warm and kind. I however did not feel this here . I was very impressed after leaving a poor vet while in the middle of our dog's cancer diagnosis. Dr Tony reassured us, supported us and respected our needs for Tobe and due to this Tobe enjoyed 2 additional good months past when another vet was dismissive and wanted us to euthanize. He treated my 14 yr old girl for a year battling a reoccurring pneumonia. He can figure anything out.... then, when it's time to say goodbye the entire staff is sensitive and caring to a family's needs. Dr. Tony and Dr. Linda are wonderful, compassionate vets and so is their office staff. They express genuine concern towards their patients and always make it a point to follow up. My little guy freaks out around other animals and the staff structures the appointments so that he rarely has to see another animal. They also take your pet out of the room to perform tests and get blood drawn, which is perfect for my guy (and for me as I freak out more than he does)! I have complete faith in their knowledge and advice. When I moved to the area years ago, I did a lot of research before deciding on a vet for my dogs. I started with practices that were AAHA accredited and then visited multiple practices and met with staff. I knew from the moment I walked into Berkeley that was going to be my vet. I have been taking my dogs here to see Dr. Tony for almost 10 years, even after I moved an hour away. Upon entering, the place is clean and inviting. All of the staff is always extremely friendly and so gentle and wonderful with my little ones. Dr. Tony always answers any questions I have and goes above and beyond when there is a problem. The care he gave one of my dogs in his final year meant more to me than I can express in this review. What I love most about Berkeley is that they are not just about the money as I have experienced with other practices. The whole staff has always been outstanding! We have 3 dogs - 1 older dog who has always had health problems and after several years of working with other vet offices Dr. Tony and staff were able to address the issues with one visit. Since then - we have been part of the BVC family. Fast forward several years and two more pups and we are still thrilled with the service and staff. Both Dr. Tony and Dr. Linda are great with our babies. Always get friendly reminders, quick calls to check in from time to time and squeezed in to accommodate our schedule any time we ask. Another reviewer mentioned costs and pricing - and yes, the fees can be considered a little more (literally a little more) than other places. But honestly, you get what you pay for. Our pets are like our children and we prefer to take them where we know they are going to be treated great, in a professional and clean setting. Moreover, BVC's connections to specialists and others is so very outstanding. To us, the small premium is worth it. Lastly, BVC always makes you feel considerable and transparent in every discussion. There have been times when I have asked to discuss treatment plans or options. In some cases opting not to proceed with a particular treatment because the cost of process outweighed the benefit for our pet. They have never made us feel that that wasn't a choice and have worked with us to ensure we were comfortable with all treatment plans and approaches. That to me, that stands out by itself to show the team at BVC really does care about its families (pets and owners alike)!!! read more

I have been to many vets, whether it was because of living in numerous locations or just looking for a better veterinarian. Berkeley Veterinary Center is by far one of the best. Of course the doctors are knowledgeable but so is the staff. They are all very talented when dealing with my dogs temperaments. They know how to approach dogs, my more aggressive dog just turns into a big baby excited to see her friends again and loves the attention they give her. Even with training I have always been nervous taking my dog to the vet - no worries anymore! When it comes to the medical aspect, my dog has had a paw licking biting problem for most of her adult life (I'm talking years) and nothing alleviated the issue. The veterinarian at Berkeley listened to my story/history did some tests, found out it was bacteria and yeast (as other vets did) and put her on necessary medicines to get rid of the problem; and it worked - for the first time my dog had some relief. read more
