Our Westies are our universe, and not only Dr. Denyer, but the entire staff takes care of our puppies as they would their own pets. From the friendly and informative staff we speak with when calling in to make an appointment to the techs initially meeting with you in the exam rooms, every interaction with the staff is a total pleasure. The techs and Dr. Denyer always listen to all of our concerns during our visits, and they handle our guys with love. The interaction and bedside manor that vets have with pets is such an important factor, and everyone here is gentle, careful, and genuinely loving with their patients-- they treat them like their own. These guys are just as great handling the humans that walk in the door. After a visit with Dr. Denyer, with the time and care she takes to explain what's happening, what likely caused it, steps to take to resolve or prevent it happening again-- you feel like you've walked out with at least a minor in veterinary science. She reviews your options, advises best future practices, and if she doesn't know the exact answer to a question, she takes the time to research the issue, and she gets back to you. She also follows up with phone calls after teeth cleanings and surgeries to make sure everything is okay. This woman is a powerhouse of intelligence, capability, and compassion. When we had to rush our dying beloved family dog to him because she suddenly crashed while waiting for our at-home euthanasia appointment, he showed nothing but arrogance, annoyance and complete lack of compassion for both our much loved Maddie and our grieving family. The fact that he was greatly annoyed that he had to put her to sleep on such short notice was palpable. He acted as if we were bothering him and he was doing us such a great favor. He even roughly shoved her head over to the side while trying to find a vein in the only front leg that she had. She was still awake while he did this, and it was all I could do not to say something to him at that moment. I wouldn't recommend this vet or his clinic if he were the last one on the planet. Dr. Bodman should not be allowed to work with ANY animal, let alone someone's family member, as we considered our dear Maddie.

So I went to the place to get my dog, he had not been fed for days and as soon as I got outside he pooped and peed all over the place so he clearly had not been walked. I called again later in the day to see if he available and she was condescending saying he'll call when he can. They close at 6pm so I called at 5:50pm to make sure he didn't forget. She calmly said, unfortunately he left already!! My cat was so bad he came out from under the bed once but immediately ran back upstairs under the bed and had stayed there all day! I was furious! I was yelling! She was so condescending and just acted like a victim because I was yelling while never apologizing! I asked for the manager. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and she came back saying the manager left and the owner could call me the next day. I said obviously they don't give a **** about us and we will go elsewhere! I got wonderful help and care at Berkley Vet Center who were compassionate and caring. They didn't have an appointment available but referred me to Garden State Animal Hospital in Toms River. My boy Lou got excellent care and the treatment he needed, and he is doing great today with proper medication! In the future my new vet will be Berkley Vet Center. BTW, I had gone to Barnegat Animal for the last 20 years or so and had never been treated so poorly! Never again!

Luckily Berkeley Vet was able to squeeze me in and see my dog. I was able to get him antibiotics so his condition didn't get worse over the weekend. I have switched vets since then and am grateful that they were able to help my baby on short notice. I feel their prices are a little high but they treat your pet like a human so everything does cost a lot out of pocket. I don't like the prices but I do like their service so I'm still going there.
