Each of the photos Matt took of me were professional and impressive. As an undergraduate student who was looking to have professional photos for myself in the future, I found the photos greatly impressive for their feeling of natural presence. It is a struggle to choose which of the final photos to keep for myself. Matt was very professional, thoughtful, and thorough in our photoshoot session. When I first entered Matt's studio, I was nervous and stiff. A very interesting and different approach to photo shoots. The idea behind Coffee Meets Portrait is to capture you in your most natural states, rather than posing you. Matt will engage you in talking about your passions and interests and then capture you while speaking. He is very good at facilitating the conversation and picking out topics that will catch your natural self. From my session with Matt, I learned that I have a super expressive face when speaking. Most of my favorite shots ended up being the few where I was posed, because I made some pretty awkward mid-speech facial expressions. We hired Matt Wong to cover our wedding which took place in Healdsburg in a garden at a winery and inside a room and a remote location. When I first contacted Matt to cover our wedding, I was stuck by his easy-going nature and willingness to listen to our wants. And not to downplay his competitive and very reasonable pricing. His attitude and approach was consistent from interview, hiring to the actual event. This was such a relief and comfort to us. His style made us feel comfortable in front of the camera (I don't like having my picture taken). He took direction from my husband on shorts requested and then we let go of control and let Matt do his thing. Thank goodness we let him do this thing, those shots were so much better. He caught our personality and let US come out in his pictures. For the ceremony and group pictures Matt got great shots but was not obtrusive. He was gracious trying to wrangle up the wedding party and get some very beautiful garden shots with the guests., candid shots (he captured so much fun during the pinning of the corsages pictures) and then the ceremony shots too.
