I have never been so frustrated with a company. My situation is kind of weird because I have a fake tooth that I have to get retainers made for. When they made the first retainer, they ordered a fake tooth that didn't match the rest of my teeth, but then insisted it was fine. The second retainer I asked for a refund for because instead of fixing the tooth, they made it somehow even more unattractive. The third time I went was out of necessity after my last retainer broke. Basically, they made me a retainer that was way, way too small and told me to be careful when taking it out. After I asked if it was going to break in less than a month, my orthodontist ROLLED HER EYES AT ME, and said it was up to me to be careful instead of offering to make a less tight one. read more

This review is an average of the following: -4-5 stars for the doctors and assistants. We needed to change our son's plan due to moving and they were responsive and flexible to putting him in the best position for the move. They also had a good demeanor in working with my 10 year old son to explain his responsibilities and what they were doing. -1 star for the billing department. This has honestly been the most frustrating reimbursement experience I think I have ever had--I have had to pay first and get reimbursed as I think I don't have their Delta Dental default, and needed to modify timing due to the aforementioned move. I have been talking with the insurance coordinator for 2+ months but continue to receive incorrect paperwork and re-start the discussion with each conversation about every 2 weeks. I think I have yet to get a successful reimbursement since treatment started last December. -The office can be quite busy some days (esp after school) but they are generally efficient and move your kids through. read more

When I first came in for the free consultation, it was actually a year before I finally decided to get Invisalign here. The staff was definitely friendly and welcoming. This was the only place I went to get a consultation from, so I can't compare prices with other places. The reason why I went with Invisalign rather than the traditional metal braces was that the cost was only a $500 difference. I also wanted to be able to eat what I want without any limitations. So far, it's been great. The appointments are quick and much faster than their estimated times if you ask. Most of the time when I'm here, it only takes about 5-10 minutes (not kidding). They usually just put on my next set of trays, check that they fit, and hand me more sets. The only issue I've had was once when my attachments came off while eating pizza, and I went in to get them reattached and this one lady scolded me for eating such things that I "wasn't supposed to," because it was the second time I had to come in to get them reattached. This was ridiculous, because 1) it doesn't even take that long to reattach them and 2) I got Invisalign to be able to eat what I want (I was also not told that I couldn't eat certain things in the first place). And one other big thing is that this place does have strange hours, so I recommend you call ahead to see if they're open. This is quite inconvenient, which is why I deducted a star. Other than that, the doctors definitely know what they're doing and it's a clean place! **Bonus: they also have lifelong service for retainers if you get your braces here, which is fantastic!** read more

I have been a patient at Berkeley Orthodontics for several years having been referred by my dentist. Their care and professionalism is top notch, from the front office staff to all the orthodontic staff. My result was fantastic! Dr. Kasrovi is a breast of all the new advances in his field, and is adamant in producing the best results for his patients. He is a phenomenal orthodontist and a very nice person. I found every staff person to be friendly and helpful - a special shout out to Becky, Gina & Sue! If there was a problem, it was solved expeditiously with the utmost courtesy and care taken for me to understand. If I could give them Zero stars I would. If you want your teen to be hassled about account status and payments every single time they go to the orthodontist, then this is your place. Even though you set up monthly payments with their accounting person, apparently that information is not shared with the delightful receptionists who have been coached by the owners to confront solo teens about payments. It's hard enough on teens to have braces, without them being told that they 'better get their parents to call this afternoon because this month's installment hasn't arrived yet". No confidentiality. No tact. No discretion. Find someplace else if you prefer not to have your kids treated like their parents are dead-beats. read more

I only see dr. Kastrovy because he seems like he exactly knows what should be done. Hate the system that you have that you meet different doctors every time you make an appointments and every doctors opinions are so different. I had a trouble closing the gap between my teeth and other doctors were so inconsistent that it took like almost an year more than my expected removal date. And finally One doctor said its okay to take off my braces but luckily I had an appointment with dr kastrovy on the date of removal and he told me that i shouldnt remove my retainers yet and he knew how to solve the problem that others did not know. I hate the system of meeting different doctors but dr kastrovy is definitely a great doctor! read more

We are completing the first phase of my son's orthodonture treatment, and his teeth now look great, after the first round of braces. Dr. Kim has been very very nice, very professional, and a very good communicator. I appreciate the way she speaks to my son - he has a lot of questions about his ortho process, and she is very patient with him and takes his questions seriously. The downside of our experience has been that we had many brackets come off, even though my son was being very careful about avoiding all of the forbidden foods. This became a major inconvenience because it meant I had to rush him in to the office the following morning, as soon as possible after dropping my other son at school. The fact that so many brackets came off was bizarre, and we never got to the bottom of it. The other issue has been that the office schedule has thrown me off a couple of times - the Ensenada Office is closed certain Mondays, and this is not clear on the outgoing message with regard to any particular Monday. Finally, the phone system was very difficult at the beginning of our treatment (I would leave a voicemail after waiting on hold for a long long time, and then not get a call back) but I believe it seems that this issue has been addressed. read more

I put my braces on in a different country. Unfortunately, my wire came out while I was in Berkeley and it was very painful. However, I am truly grateful that I met these people! I have to say that I am really happy with my experience with Berkeley Orthodontics. When I think back to my years here it was one of the best things I've every done for myself. I am delighted that I made the jump at a young age to correct my smile. I had braces the majority of my adolescence into my adult years and Dr. Kasrovi guided me and educated me every step of the way. The team here is friendly and knowledgeable. They are not in a rush to push you through the process. They do take the time to get it right the first time out. Which I appreciate since I am the one dealing with the soreness and oral contraptions every night. I recently returned to the new location and was blown away by all the updated amenities and state of the art equipment. These folks are on the ball and had my touch up (reclosing a gap) done within a month and a half. Easiest bid done to date. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Kasrovi and all of the Berkeley Orthodontics Staff for ensuring that my inner brilliant smile was as pretty as my outer one. read more

I called many different places before deciding on this one. It seems they handle a lot of teenagers in the North Berkeley/Albany area. At first they seem friendly and "on it'. However, once you have given them enough money. The staff treats you and your child as an incovenience. Staff do not answer the phone directly so a game of phone tag often happens in order to simply set up a 15 minute appointment, they are unwilling to work with complicated schedules of teenagers, parents are never invited to speak with or even meet the doctors, they are closed most weekends and do not schedule late appointments. In a world where costly Orthodontic offices are a dime a dozen, one would think that either friendliness, professionalism or flexiblity would come into play. I have seen none of these (Oh but they send a statement out IMMEDIATELY if you are a day past the 1st on payments). I do not recommend any of these 3 Berkeley locations they have! read more
