On the June 11th of 2026 I went to Berkeley Ford Dealership in buying a 2017 RAM Truck. I drove a hour and 30 minutes to come here expecting respect instead mechanics leave for their lunch break and leave my truck with no battery with that they only looked at vehicle once I finished my paperwork. only to find out the alternator was the problem. I waited almost 5 hours in the dealership because people choose not to do their job. When questioned about how disorganized they were and why they didn't have the vehicle ready for me prior. I've had great experiences purchasing two vehicles from here, also, the service staff have been a pleasure to work with; however, After having an inspection done to verify the condition of the vehicle at 100k, as well as some other general maintenance (including brake flush), after a month the rear brake caliper fell off. According to the Service Manager, their team would not have touched the caliper, so it must be a problem from the last time I did the brakes (over a year prior). Regardless if it would be normal to "touch" the caliper bolts or not, the caliper fell off a month after they had inspected the brake pads and flushed brake fluid. Unwilling to accept the possibility of a technician mistake. They worked with me to take off cost of a diagnostic; however, left me to pay parts and labor after spending 1k the previous month for the full inspection and maintenance. I am left with an extreme lack of trust and will now take my business elsewhere. read more

Purchased 2020 explorer on 09/13/24. On 10/09/24 ( 26 days )the dash lit up power train warnings. I called the service depart.on 10/10/24 and was told the earliest appt. was 12/6/24 but if I could drop it off but may take 2 days to a week. I started at 3 stars because in my mind a used car or not if you just purchased it and have an issue like that it should become a top priority. I also purchased the 100,000 mile warranty and was told you just pay $100 for repairs. You would think being less than 30 days that the dealership would just fix it. Chris called back and said they were waiting on the warranty company to have an inspector verify the job on Teusday which I did verify with the warranty . I will update after the inspection. 10/24/24 - update. Liberty Shield warranty is an absolute joke. Today I was Informed that the warranty would only cover $490.00 which won't even cover the cost of the parts and I would have to pay $2250. I had less than 30 days and that warranty was $4k. Called my salesman and the sales manager and owner are now involved. Will update after tomorrow but now I'm irritated. 10/25/24 - met with sales manager and salesman and worked something out. I pay my $100 deductible. Awaiting 3 parts not in stock and are supposed to arrive on Teusday and they will call. 10/28/24 - I would like to say the sales team has been pretty good. However the service department is seriously lacking. They had the car for 15 days, diagnosed after 2 and the car was untouched and I had to escalate to the sales team to get any traction. The worst part is during that 15 days they never bothered to make sure that they had all the parts knowing that this had to be fixed. The last 3 parts are supposed to be in tomorrow 10/29/24. We will see going on day 20. 10/29/24 - End of day 20 no communication at all. The car is still sitting in the same spot it's been at for about 15 days. 10/30/24 - Day 21 I spoke with the service dept. and was told all parts in and it's next to be worked on and should be done by early next week. Next Wednesday will still be 28 days for a car I drove for 26 days which makes it impossible for me to recommend this dealership. I do not wish this much stress on my worst enemy. On Monday this week I drove half way across the state for a really nice car (it's been great so far), but nobody was very helpful there in the sales department. When I went down there Monday of last week they were weird to me the entire time. They accused me of rolling back the mileage on my car that I was selling (how do you even do that on a digital odometer?) and when I told them I didn't have a cashiers check or credit card limit high enough to buy a car that day they didn't think I was serious and I had to explain to them that I drove an hour and forty five minutes to test it. Luckily they let me put a deposit down for the car, or so I thought. I gave them my card info through their secure link and was told by the sales manager on the phone that they could take that 500 bucks off the sale price for me, the front desk person even confirmed that they had it. So I thought I was smooth sailing. I thought I could make the process even easier too. I called in and asked for all the financial paperwork to be taken care of so that I could do a quick turn around and make the nearly two hour trek back home. He said it would be done and imagine my shock when none of it was done. The paperwork was never sent to me to sign, the stain in the back seat wasn't out (I had to check and ask them to do it again), and the car was not gassed up. To make matters worse they never ran my card for the deposit so my cashier's check wasn't big enough to cover the car. They did keep the car for me, so that is a plus. Had they sold it despite all this, I might've crashed out. I got to the dealership at 5:54 pm and did not leave until almost 8. Nothing we asked them for was done. The sales team, with the exception of a lady who eventually warmed up to us, was impersonal, unhelpful and a little rude on top of all that. The finance team was short staffed, so I won't hold that against them. I have been to McDonalds and funeral homes that were more personable and had better customer service than this place. It was a poor experience both times I went in there and I would highly suggest that you take your money elsewhere. Berkeley Ford is not the place to buy a car if a good experience is important to you. With all that negative being said. The car is great, their office was clean (bathrooms too WOOP WOOP), and now I never have to go there again. Stay away from Berkeley Ford. read more

These people are con artists. They gave us a coupon for $75 when my wife got there they charged her $150 for "labor and fees". She says this place takes advantage of women. The next day, the car is leaking dirty oil all over our brand new garage. We take it to another mechanic and it turns out Berkeley Ford NEVER EVEN CHANGED THE OIL OR THE OIL FILTER OR ROTATED THE TIRES AFTER CHARGING US DOUBLE PRICE. The fact that the oil leak was old oil shows they never drained the old and put new oil in. I checked the oil dip stick and the oil is still low and filled with old oil. I can do a better job myself. We should have known better than to take the car to the dealership for work on it but the coupon seemed like a good deal--wrong. It was really awesome to drive 40 minutes to see, and had every intention of buying, only to be treated like crap by Berkeley Ford. Upon arrival it seemed no one wanted to actually help us. My son gave them the stock number and said he had called earlier to make sure the care was there, they searched to see who he spoke to but nothing popped up in the system, so the two salesmen at the desk argued over who's turn it was, with it seeming neither wanted to actually help us. The salesman did pull the car around, and my son was looking it over and asking questions and then asked about test driving it... the salesman seemed oddly shocked that someone might actually want to drive a car before they buy it. He condescendingly asked if my son would even drive a manual, to which he replied yes, I learned how to drive on a manual Subaru STI. The guy goes in and comes back and says sorry, we can't let you drive it because you aren't 21. I was shocked, he test drove cars before, like when we got his first car. Now mind you, the salesman had asked us no questions about why he was looking at this car, if we planned to finance, none of the questions a salesman would be asking. Again, my son being 18, with his own money, I tried to let him navigate this but the way we were both treated was shocking. I asked the salesperson if he needed a copy of our insurance, and that I'd be going along too. It didn't matter, so we left. I called back to try and speak with a manager to get clarification but only got treated worse. He was rude and argumentative from the start. After him stating it's not us l, it's the law, I said I don't think so, we've test driven cars before and he demanded to know where. I had enough and said ok, your rules are your rules, you don't want to sell us a car, have a great day, and I hung up. He calls back and goes in to say I'm setting a bad example for my son by hanging up on him, I told him there's nothing else to discuss, we will shop elsewhere. He goes off about not just letting random teenagers come drive cars and I'm like he's 18, not 15 or 16, he could die for our country but not test drive a car, he has a 4.0 gpa and this is when I literally thought I was being punked because he turns to whoever else is around and says "hey guys he has a 4.0 gpa" ... making fun of us. Honestly, I didn't want my kid to buy that ragged out car anyway, so thanks for that, but that the end of the day he had spent weeks looking for a certain car and was excited to find it only to be treated like garbage by Michael and Berkeley Ford. A month ago, I had basic service, oil change, and multipoint inspection performed on my 1987 Ford Crown Victoria which I would have given a 5 start rating. However, when I called yesterday for an appointment for A/C and transmission service, my request for an appointment was declined. First, I couldn't state positively if the vehicle had been converted to R134 or still had R12. If R12, they did not have the equipment necessary to remove the R12. Second, because I did not have a maintenance record of the previous transmission service, he said something about a concern of the type of transmission fluid. I purchased this vehicle two months ago from an individual located in California who, unfortunately, did not maintain records. This '87 Crown Victoria is in immaculate condition. Since it is a Ford, I naturally prefer it to be serviced by certified Ford mechanics. However, it appears the Ford Motor Company doesn't prefer to work on their own product after a certain time period. read more

1 star because I can't put 0. This dealer is the absolute worst and I wouldn't wish interacting with them on my worst enemy. They are in direct violation of Department of South Carolina Consumer Affairs 'Misleading and Deceptive Motor Vehicle Dealer Practices' (contact me for this document or look it up online) . We "test drove" a 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, around the parking lot because they didn't let us test drive for real, that a sales person ordered for themselves initially, but were not "allowed" to buy it. It wasn't the color we wanted and the sales rep said it would probably be way over the MSRP so we said we'd go home to think it over. When we were on our way home, we were emailed and texted an offer of MSRP. We thought "wow what a great honest dealer". The next day we called to purchase it at the offered price. They pretty much laughed in our faces and said the email and text were a mistake and they wanted 10k over MSRP. Eventually they dropped it to 8k over msrp and updated their pricing online. Still not fair considering we were offered MSRP Cash Offer via Email and Text. We spoke to the GM Louis who was a very rude individual and the Sales Manager Michael (who the email offers came from). They agreed to re-negotiate if we brought in a trade in. They offered us the MSRP they quoted us IF and ONLY IF we would give them our appraised $14k valued car for $7k. We aren't stupid, so we figured out that they were just trying to get over on us by getting our car for $7k less than it was worth to make a profit. We took it to the BBB and SC Department of Consumer Affairs. While we were going back and forth with them and these parties to mediate, they sold the vehicle at less than they were trying to conn us for while we were in dispute. All this occurred in one week. I wouldn't deal with them again even if you paid me to do it. Read their replies to their BBB reviews, highly unprofessional, they put people's personal information out there and even called us the wrong name. In the BBB response they addressed us as Mr. and Mrs. Jones...we don't know who the Jones family is, but looks like they had a bad experience too. Save yourself the time, heartbreak, stress, and unprofessionalism by going to a different Ford dealer. Wish I could add screenshots of the Email Quotes so they don't try to deny they sent them. I'm so appalled by the unprofessionalism and illegal practices that I wouldn't put it passed them to try to bad mouth me online. Dropped my car off this morning for a warranty issue with an 8am appointment. I called at 12 to see if they had looked at it yet and Jennifer said NO. We configured the build through Fords website and ready for down payment and to place order. That is when we asked if this price is the final price; we were informed that there would be a 10,000-20,000 allocation fee/charge added but they wouldn't be sure exact amount until the vehicle came in. On top of the allocation, they also said they would be charging an additional 5,000 for "car shortage" fee. When asking further information about allocation fees, we were told all dealers have it. They don't all charge allocation fees. We found a different dealership that sells new fords at MSRP - that's it, what you see on the Ford factory window sticker is what they charge, no markup. Took the time to take me on a test drive knowing full well I was not going to buy THIS Mach-E because of the color. He then showed me around other trucks and cars for nearly 3 hours. Had the worst experience shopping for a car. If a dealer can't make an offer even close to what I told them I wanted, then just tell me so, I would not get mad. Instead I was left sitting at a desk 10-15 minutes at a time while the salesman went back to see if he could get a better price. After an hour of this, and still offering me nearly double what I kept telling the salesman I could afford, I tried to leave, but they did not allow me to leave. Early in the process they "borrowed" my car keys to check the odometer of my trade, and then they refused to return them. They do the whole "no haggle price" online, which was a little weird for me as I'm used to thousands being on the table to play with when haggling over the car. We did the test drive thing, no license exchange required, which is nice as some places grab your info and run your credit on the down low while you ride. No pressure. Crystal knew all about my Jeep, which was cool for someone who works at a Ford dealer. Lets talk about closing the sale and after. This is a dealer, so I had to go through the while "what's it going to take to earn your business" pitch, but nothing crazy. I was satisfied with the vehicle but not the final pricing. They did not accept my cash offer so I left the vehicle at the lot on first day. On the second day we agreed to a price over the phone so we drove back to Berkeley Ford. When we were set to do the deal ,they said they couldn't do it. They were well aware of all of our information when we agrreed to the price. If it was for me I would have left, but my daughter was excited and I didn't want to let a couple hundred dollars totally ruin it for her. I believe they may have never intended to honor their word but just wanted us back in the door. To be reputable, an institution should stand by their product and their word. It's not about the money, it's about the principle. In my opinion, someone that worked on our deal is severley under trained or lacks principles. To my understanding, those that were involed in this deal, have been in the business for years. So you do the math. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else! Not only am I aware that there still is a shortage of qualified automotive employees including mechanics, but supply chain issues still continue to plague many, if not all, businesses to some degree. Unfortunately, these two issues alone make it very difficult to get an appointment at Berkeley Ford in a timely fashion. Under these circumstances, I'm reasonably confident that tension is at an all time high in all departments but that being said, customer service should still be a high priority, not an opportunity to do sloppy work and disrespect customers. Suffice it to say I experienced a 6 week wait time for the first appointment January 5, made 4 calls that went unanswered in one day plus a face to face visit the next day to get the 2nd appointment (Jan.30) for the same OP code and experienced a customer service failure (both service rep and service manager) that were truly epic in the lack of professionalism. That is enough for me to never set foot again in Berkeley Ford ever again. Despite the fact that we purchased 2 new Ford trucks within the last 4 years and encouraged our daughter to buy her new Escape from Berkeley, it is more than clear that Berkeley Ford is not invested in customer retention at all In fact, based on our experience, I believe the service rep (Chris) and service manage (Larry) were making it quite clear that we were no longer welcome at Berkeley Ford! Since my husband has already sent his detailed review to Ford directly, I'll not bore anyone with the details however, I'll be glad to provide that information if someone is interested. I took my truck to them in June of 2023 for a transmission service. In order to do this service there is a skid plate under the truck that they have to remove. I have no issues with the service itself, it was done and 300.00 dollars later I was on my way.Again I trusted them to do a professional job. Well 6 months later I was changing my oil ( the first time I was under the truck after the service was performed ) and I immediatley noticed the skid plate was missing. I know for a fact it was on the truck when I took it in for service. I just got back from talking with the service manager at Berkeley Ford and he flat out refused to do anything about it except to sell me a new plate. I told him I trusted they would do a professional job and they failed .
