The establishment is broken into several sections, so if you walk into the part that kinda looks like a dive bar, try the other doors. I personally like the section that feels like a comfortable pub. The menu is also written around the room on the wall if you read German. I like large servings, and the food here is enough to get me full (a hard task). Check this out at night in Bad Ischl for a relaxing beer!

Amazing restaurant! Food, service, and beer were all top notch. Some of the best food I've had in…read moreAustria in the last two years of frequent visits. Their beef is just wonderful, the carpaccio, tartare, and steaks are to die for. Even their simple dish of noodles and cabbage was beautifully executed. When we went they had a keg of Augustiner dark and white beer that was left over from the Munich Oktoberfest, and a lovely on tap Weiss beer that was one of the best in town. The waiters were great, spoke quite decent English. There was a live band as well that played really well and even though we were at the next table, it was a normal volume and we could still have a conversation about how good the beer and food was.

We are dinner here last night and came back tonight for dessert! We had the Viennese fried chicken…read moreand the Zauber sausage and goulash. Both were excellent! I wasn't sure what to expect from the goulash, but it was amazing. Then for dessert we got the Black Forest cake and a blueberry cake with chocolate on the bottom. My favorite was the blueberry cake, but both were good. Then tonight we went back for dessert. I got the Elizabeth cake and my daughter got the strawberry tart. Both were good but I liked the Elizabeth cake better. My daughter preferred the strawberry tart though. I love this restaurant because the large, loaded pastry case is the star of the star of the show!!

The servers were super busy and seemed a bit stressed. We ordered very quickly as there was no time for pleasantries. The view was great, as was the people-watching. Our meal came out, and once again our server didn't spend much time with us or ask if we needed anything. But the food was good so we relaxed and enjoyed our time there. There was a sign suggesting to take a look at their dessert case. I went inside and they did have some nice desserts but there was also a number of flies in the case. That ruined the idea of dessert and made me wonder about the meal I just ate. Luckily it was a hot cooked dish. This is a nice place for relaxing with a coffee or drink. I think an early lunch would work, but the number of flies in the case let me know the quality declines as time goes by.

We have visited this place several times over the years…read more Last time in 2016. Siriuskogl is a short hike through the woods near Bad Ischl - but the way is going upwards to the mountain top. So if you are not able to do a good hike with strong pitch - better stay away. Even the walk is only a 30 minutes hike from center of Bad Ischl, it can be exhausting for people with low endurance. As soon as you have climbed the Siriuskogl´s top - you are entering the "Gasthaus Siriuskogl". They are offering Alpaca hiking, self made bacon, good food - and best of all - they are listed in the "Falstaff"-Magazine as one of the best places in Austria. We recognised that the menu has changed from very traditional to more "modern" stylish food. To be open - the traditional was good enough for us, but maybe there was a change in the kitchen.... Nevertheless, we had a great time. Food is of good quality and the service was utmost friendly. Prices are reasonable. Siriuskogl serves more traditional Snacks and modern style "Deer"-Burger, or "Siriuskogl Bosna" - which is a large Sub with a traditional "Bratwurst" - a grilled sausage in a spicy sauce with lots of onions. Tasty. If you are in Bad Ischl - and able to hike up to a mountains top without needing an O2-tent afterwards - go for it. Stunning view over the valley and a nice place to sit. Would we come here again? Absolutely......
