    We have been going to Ocean City for over 20 years and have had mostly good experiences. This year we rented 5838 Central Ave 2nd floor owned by Sabbioso LLC and the place was filthy. It was obvious that the place was not cleaned prior to our arrival. 1.Hair and Sand in MBR bathroom 2.Outdoor shower unusable filled with sand a old dirty sponge and sandy soap on the floor with a lock on the door that was inoperable. 3.Dirty underwear under bed 4.Mosquito infested with ant traps all around. 5.Kitchen pots dirty with food left in them 6.Kitchen sink and garbage disposal leaking 7.Dirty cups in cabinet 8.Cobwebs and spiders in bunk beds along with screws to hold it together missing. 9.Floors dirty with sand and dirt still on them. 10.Oven Filthy never been cleaned 11. Furniture dirty and stained. 12. Tub in hallway bathroom clogged. 13.Light bulbs burned out and missing in multiple rooms You would think that Berger Reality would take some responsibility to oversee that the places they rent are clean since they receive a commission on the rentals. They just want to pass it off on the owner and wash their hands of it. The owner stated they had paid for deep cleaning as the previous renter had stayed there for 6 weeks. Obviously no one followed up to make sure it was clean. Neither the owner nor Berger. In calling Berger (Kevin Laskowski) he said he was sorry about the situation and offered to send someone out to clean but a number of the listed problems were not discovered immediately and with the family bringing everything in it would have been problematic to have cleaners working around everyone and their belongings. They did send someone to fix the leak which of course was to the benefit of the owner. I asked for a credit considering we had to clean everything and were inconvenienced in many ways. Berger initially said they could do nothing and that it was up to the owner. The sorry about that does not make up for the inconvenience we all experienced and left to deal with. We have not heard from the owner regarding any compensation. I would suggest not renting this property until they clean up their act. Some pictures of the place.

    Barbara Varacalli was a horrible agent who misrepresented our rental and when we called her on it she told us to "Call City Hall." Here were our issues... First, there was loud construction going on next door starting at 8:00 am ever day of our vacation. Does anyone think it's fair to wake up early every day to loud machinery and a cursing crew? You should have told us about this in advance and given us the option to choose another rental. Second, your online photos of 2731 Wesley Ave, Ocean City, NJ 08226 were taken in 1995 and it doesn't look the same today. Great views, but a tired old rental. As an example, all the pictures on the walls are faded, fans are dirty and dilapidated, there was little to no landscaping, lights would mysteriously go on or off, the pots on the balcony sported dead pulled weeds and the place was sterile with no personality... could go on but am sure you have the idea. Everything in this place is tired! Third, this unit was dirty and smelled. We spent half of the first day cleaning and the attached picture of the air conditioning intake shows why the place had such a horrible old musty odor. As much as we tried to spray Fabreze and open the windows, we all could smell the odor when we'd return from the beach. Barbara, you should really be ashamed of how you treat people because it's not right or fair. Karma will eventually catch you... maybe it's time to retire before it does!

    Worked with them for years. Always a great experience. We love going to Ocean City...no better place to spend your days

    Upon checking into our rental property in Ocean City, NJ (329 Corinthian Avenue, 1st Floor) I…read morenoticed immediately that it had not been cleaned. It was an older property and at lower price so I was not expecting it to be the nicest place; however I did expect it to be cleaned properly. In fact, prior to renting my husband asked the realtor about the cleanliness and we were assured it was clean. My family has been renting at the Jersey Shore for 40+ years so we are more than accustomed to the normal wear/tear of beach rentals; however we have never experienced arriving to a rental so filthy. I reached out to our realtor and quickly received a call back. Our realtor stated he would reach out to the owner and be in touch. Shortly after that phone call, a woman named Stephanie arrived (assuming she was the owner, but she did not identify herself as the owner) to assess the situation and agreed that the house was in need of a cleaning. She contacted "the cleaning service" and informed us that it had been a different crew than normal and they would return to clean that day. She appeared to be concerned, apologized and upon our request provided some cleaning supplies, which I definitely appreciated. Later that day we received another call from the realtor stating that cleaning crew could not come back until tomorrow. Our options were to wait until Sunday OR the owner was willing to reimburse us the $145 cleaning fee. At that point, we had already spent 2 hours cleaning the place so unhappily we accepted the reimbursement. However, it quickly became evident that no cleaning crew had ever been there. By the time we got the rental to place where it was livable (hours later), we seriously questioned whether this property has a regular cleaning service (hence the quotes earlier in this review.) Some highlights: When making the beds we noticed the mattress pads had blood stains (see photo). The amount of sand/debris near and on the washing machine was appalling. There were soiled clothes on the side of the washer, along with trash, lint, empty detergent bottles, and useless cleaning supplies (a broom that did not work). The entrance way (should have gave it away) was covered in litter and leaves (see photo). In addition we found out later that the outside light bulb was blown out, so my husband had to buy light bulbs to replace. Just an example of neglect of regular upkeep and maintenance. Additionally, the plug in the master bathroom did not appear to be up to code as it was not GFCI protected. The floors were covered in sand, dead bugs, debris, food and band aids (see photos). The window sills and outside deck were covered in black film and looked like they have not been wiped down in months. My husband bought a broom and bucket and borrowed a hose to clean thoroughly, we ended buying table clothes as well to cover the tables. We had to do this for the kitchen table too because it was so sticky and grimy that everything stuck to it. The amount of debris under and in (it was a pull out) the sofa was disgusting. (see photos) The refrigerator was dirty- my husband asked the Stephanie if the cleaning crew typically wiped it out and she did not know. As a rental owners, ourselves, this was shocking. We provided our cleaning service with a very detailed list of tasks to do in between rentals, clearly this was not the case. In addition, the freezer had a ice machine and the ice smelled and was inedible - when it melted it tasted disguising. I am sure the filter had not been changed in years. Again, as regular visitors down the shore, we are accustomed to the water; however this was beyond anything we ever experienced. We ended up buying bagged ice the entire time. The bathroom sinks were dirty with toothpaste and floors covered in hair. To say this was unpleasant is an understatement. We ended up staying in a hotel for a couple of nights just to get away. Because of this, we requested that the owner consider reimbursing for one full night (which, in my opinion is conservative). I wrote to our realtor with the request and received a very brief email stating that an email had been left with the owner. That was the end of the communication. I followed-up but never heard back. Eventually I submitted communication via Fox's website addressed directly to the owner (Gary Jessel) but did not hear back. I also sent the attached pictures but again no response. I get that there is a short summer season in NJ therefore the opportunity for making money is limited however the utter disregard and obvious neglect is unacceptable. I expected better from an agency that has been in OC for so long but was greatly disappointed.

    We initially signed up for property alerts in mid-January. Though I wouldn't describe it as an…read moreactive search, we were monitoring the listings that were sent to us. In mid-April, we came upon a property of interest and I finally picked up the phone and called Jennifer Dwyer. It didn't take long for me to realize that the person on the other end of the line felt more like a friend than an agent. From that initial phone call...through the modified searches...to our June closing (and beyond), Jen always managed to make us feel like her top priority. More times than I can count, Jen went above and beyond for us. Whether it was setting up inspections; meeting with a contractor to get a bid; securing our first packages that arrived ahead of schedule (and before closing)...the list goes on and on. With the two questions she often asked me - "How can I help?" and "What can I take off your plate?" - Jen not only made the entire process smooth, but often, pleasant. After her most recent help, I sent her this text: "Boy Jen...did I ever make the BEST decision of my life asking you to help me find a house! You have been a godsend over and over! Thank you!! Soooooo grateful for you!!" Needless to say, I highly recommend Jennifer Dwyer to anyone looking to purchase a home in Ocean City, NJ!

    EDIT: After contacting our realtor again and a manager for the unit, it is being resolved…read more Staying currently at 1401 Beaches condominiums. The ONLY GOOD THING about this location is it is less than 20 feet to the boardwalk. Great location. No wonder why the contract has a clause "tenant assumes the units condition sight unseen". The place was far from clean. Sand everywhere. Black tub, and furniture stains. Had to clean the whole thing. Sign in the unit stated to contact the realtor if it is not in order. So I did. He said he would contact the owners and get back to me. 4 DAYS AGO. Also advertised WiFi. The WiFi is centrally located and NOT per unit. My brand new iPhone and my Xbox could not connect and stated the issue is with the router. Please remove WiFi from the listing as it only works OUTSIDE OF MY ROOM IN THE HALLWAY. The pictures in the listing hide all the dirt and dinginess of this unit. The keys we were given to get into the unit after hours did not work and we got locked out and had to wait for someone else living there to let us in. We were not given a parking permit for the numbered spot so I hope our car doesn't get towed. We booked this from June 1-8 and will be leaving a few days early because of the mess of this condo. The whole thing is in dire need of a renovation. Our specific realtor was of zero help and the "owner" of the unit pretty much told us to pound sand. Stay far away from this condo complex and do not use this Berkshire office on 34th.
