I hired Jay to hang a TV and some satellite speakers, hook up an AV receiver to a bunch of components (cable box, BD player, VCR, CD player, turntable, old iPod), and terminate (i.e., install wall-jacks or plugs at the ends of) a handful of cable/ethernet/phone wires throughout a family member's home. I put together detailed instructions and checklists and corresponded with him extensively ahead of time. He was honest about his lack of knowledge of telephone wiring, computer network configuration and analog audio, but over-promised and under-delivered on almost everything else. He failed to bring the instructions with him, so there were many details he missed (and several wires that he left un-terminated altogether). Of those he did terminate, almost half were done incorrectly. Components were plugged into incorrect ports on the receiver so more than half of them didn't work when he left. He turned out not to know anything about advanced configuration options on the receiver. He made poor aesthetic decisions when hanging the speakers (contrary to the written instructions) and arranging wires in our AV cabinet. And he became remarkably rude as soon as we started questioning his work. He WAS able to correctly hook up the core video components (TV, receiver, BD player, cable box) and the speakers, and he was able to nicely conceal a subwoofer cable behind some drywall, so if that's all you need, he might be an OK choice. But for anything even a smidgen more complicated, I would stay far away. read more

Called Jay @ Berger Audio Video after a local installer stopped answering calls a few days before they were scheduled to do install. Needed to have a TV and component shelf mounted with an outlet installed behind the TV in 4 days from first contact. Jay communicated very well throughout and answered any questions I had. We were able to formulate a plan with a picture of the room and basic questions as to what I desired. His tech Dave showed up on time and took the required time to get this install done right. Dave was here on a Saturday night to get this done before a party on Sunday afternoon. Having an infant I wanted all wires to be neatly tucked behind the wall so she would have nothing to hang on or pull on.
