Walking through tunnels, stairs, and viewing platforms carved into the rock is an adventure in itself. The elevator helps with part of the climb, but there are still quite a few stairs, so wear good shoes and be prepared for some effort. I'm glad we had patience waiting for the lift and didn't use the stairs all throughout. We got a little damp from the mist, and avoiding slippery areas in the dark were part of the fun experience. We had to come back the next day to get in since the place was already closed when we first arrived. We walked all the way from Staubbach to the village to Trummelbach and didn't know we could have taken the bus to get there while it was still open. It's well worth it.

While I was already sold on Switzerland as a destination, my boyfriend hadn't really thought much about it--until we started exploring the country's natural beauty. After seeing the stunning landscapes, he was completely hooked, and Trümmelbach Falls was one of the many highlights of our trip. This waterfall is truly one of a kind. The falls are hidden inside the mountains, cascading through several stories of rock with an immense, raw power that leaves you in awe. The water itself was freezing cold, and you can actually feel the mist as you climb the stairs that take you all the way to the top. It's not just the physical beauty of the falls that's impressive, but the sheer force and energy of the water as it tumbles through the gorge. The hike itself was exhilarating--breathing in the cool, mist-filled air while navigating the narrow pathways made the experience feel even more immersive. The views were absolutely breathtaking at every turn. It's the kind of natural wonder that really takes your breath away and makes you appreciate the raw beauty of Switzerland. Trümmelbach Falls was an unforgettable experience.

Mountains? Check. Lakes? Check. Perfect setting for some ATV-ing? ... CHECK. Interlaken,…read moreSwitzerland is as close to heaven as an outdoor enthusiast can get; hiking, climbing, rafting, paragliding, ATV-ing.. sigh. Pure beauty, serenity and a side of adrenaline.. and if you're not from here, it also comes with one awesome tour guide: Daniel! He took us up in the mountains over a 3 hour long Quad (ATV for us Americans) trip. Most of our drive was on paved roads, some wider and straighter than others.. there were definitely lots of steep hairpin turns (fun!).. These gave my stepdaughter lots of much needed practice for if she ever wants to go atv-ing with us again, as this was her first time. The trip took us through beautiful nature scenery.. lots of trees, little streams, a couple of small farmer villages with chalet style homes and the occassional cow here and there. Personally, the rougher the terrain and the faster the machine, the better of a time I have. I may look girly, but I just hide my down 'n dirty adrenaline junkie side very well. From this standpoint, the short offroad portion of the trip was probably my favorite part! Since it started raining, this offroad rocky terrain (downhill) was nice and muddy-slippery. If you're not an experienced rider this may give you a run for your money. My first-time riding stepdaughter wasn't too enthused, but my husband and I had a blast and went up and down a couple of times. The real treat (stepdaughter will agree) after the off road fun was a surprise visit to a working, super small scale dairy farm that makes cheese and other goodies. Cows.. up front and close, fluffy, pettable cows. Oh, and lunch! Whoop. By the time we made it back down to Interlaken (the city itself is beautiful) we were soaked and muddy down to our underwear. Turns out it rains here in July - lesson learned. Daniel's wife came out with towels so that we could change into something dry.. Talk about hospitality and friendly service! Everything was awesome and so worth the money. Which, comparing it to other places such as Colorado, is extremely reasonable. Honestly, this couldn't have been more fun and Daniel couldn't have been friendlier. Rain or no rain, I'd return in a heartbeat!
