One of my favorite spots in the Jewish ghetto. I stumbled across it by accident while walking into the center where all the restaurants are. I loved this spot so much I ended up here on four separate occasions. This shop has fresh cheeses, artisan breads, a selections of wines and they even have a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I stopped by for their breakfast and ordered their prix-fixe options of espresso, bread, ricotta and honey. It was only €5 and it was perfect! A good amount of food and great quality. For lunch I tried their prosciutto plate and mixed goat cheese board and ordered their sourdough bread basket. The prosciutto was melt-in-your-mouth and the cheeses were delicious and varying in style and taste. You can't go wrong with pairing their selection of wines by the glass, but feel free to ask for a recommendation!

YOU MUST COME HERE. While exploring the Jewish Ghetto my wife and I stopped into Beppe because we noticed they have a natural wine selection. Matteo helped us pick out a few wines (which were amazing) and then we stocked up on cheese and meat. We had a wonderful night drinking and eating on our rooftop, so we stopped by to visit Matteo the next day for lunch. Man, this was the most fun meal we had in Rome! We didn't even have to order. Matteo brought us wonderful dishes that included mozzarella that was made the previous day. We ended up hanging out for a while (2 bottle of wine)! Matteo was a wonderful host. We cherish our wine opener from Beppe because of the fond memories. Thank you, Matteo!

Great place for cheese and meats. I sampled five cheeses; they tasted great and the service was good and quick. He is very knowledgeable and open to chatting and helping out. In a nice quaint spot in the jewish ghetto.

Just okay sandwich. The cheese was good. The bread was okay and the mortadella (fancy ham) was just okay. Not impressed

I consider it a vacation success if I find a memorable place to return over and over again. This is it for me. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or take-out. With places like this, there is no excuse to ever eat bad food in Rome. The other reviewers said it all. On my last day, I'll skip the heavy tourist spots and come here to throw a coin over my shoulder.

Best cheese in Rome, nice staff, great recommendations, good wine selection - a very nice meal at a good price, in the historical Jewish Ghetto in Rome, Five stars easily !! Went back again, not disappointed ! See picture, great meat plates and cheese plates and tartare !!

This is the place for meats and cheeses. I know there's a more famous one a few blocks away but theyre way more customer oriented here. The folks try very hard to help you out and greet you with a smile. Turns out one of the guys sister lives where i went to school. Small world. They Produce many of the fheeses in house. That's insane. Then there's the selected cured meats and wines. Id hit this every day if i had the time. The smoked ricotta is insane. I also had a cheese that was a cross between mozzarella and gruyere., so damn good. Such a great place

A perfect experience in the old Jewish Ghetto. Amazing wine, cheese and meats to taste before moving on to the local restaurant for Primi.

A good friend convinced me to try Le Carré Français in Rome, and I'm so grateful they did. It felt like a two-for-one trip: all the charm of France without the hassle of travel. From the second I stepped inside, the authenticity was undeniable, with genuine French bread baked fresh in their in-house bakery and decor that whisked me away to a cozy bistro along the Seine. The scents of pastries, cheeses, and wines just screamed "vive la France!" The food was nothing short of sublime, every bite a true delight, from flaky croissants that practically melted on your tongue to entrees that felt like they were made with pure passion. I'm not even a big bread fan usually (pasta all the way for me), but those pastries? Irresistible, like butter on a hot crepe, with highlights like homemade macarons, crème brûlée, and fruit tarts that could hold their own against Paris's finest. The service matched the quality perfectly: attentive yet unobtrusive, turning the whole evening into something effortless and memorable. A big thanks to the staff for their genuine warmth--you made us feel right at home. The standout moment, though, was chatting with the owner himself. What a welcoming guy! Our talk flowed easily, covering French-Italian blends and life in Rome. If you're seeing this, kudos to you for building a spot that's about more than just meals; it's about real connections. If you're in Rome and need a break from gelato and gladiators, head to Le Carré Français on Via Vittoria Colonna, 30. It's an experience that'll leave you saying "ooh la la" for days. Five stars? This place earns a whole sky full!

Having eaten pizza and…read morepasta all week, I wanted something different and I'd come to Rome having read that it was voted the best food city in the world in 2025, though can't recall where I saw that. Found it pretty hard to find any cuisine that might qualify in my book but this place seemed promising. Indeed it was the right spot! The personnel I encountered all spoke French and the menu had decidedly French dishes, including one of the best tests of good French cooking, boeuf bourguignon! The bread basket brought to the table was the first sign of real French style and proper goodness. The entree was delicious and the creamy mashed potatoes, while perhaps not considered traditional by many, were well made and I say bravo! The music astounded me because it was live and very good! Two older gentleman playing saxophone or trumpet and keyboard doing covers of Sinatra and the like. Made for great atmosphere. Was it the best French I've ever had? No, but it was a fine alternative to Italian if the desire comes your way, too.
