Had a great experience in here when browsing for some new beers to bring to a party. I was totally overwhelmed by choice, but, as all beer drinkers know, that's a great thing when you're looking for something unique and delicious! They have a large beer cooler where you can grab beers pre-chilled, as well as a wide selection of beer and liquor throughout the store. The staff also seems willing to offer suggestions if you're not sure what you want, or if you're looking for something specific. Really looking forward to more trips here when in Cedar Rapids. read more

Holy beer selection! If you can't find your drink of choice here, I'd be shocked. In addition to the adult beverages, Benz offers a wide array of gourmet snacks, meats and cheeses. 3/5 because the customer service here is lacking at times and parking is a pain in a$$ (small lot and difficult to navigate around big, bulky delivery trucks). I kind of get the 'I'm better than you' 'tude from employees when I walk though the door. That being said, I'm happy to shop any of the 6+ Hy-Vee stores in the area and get friendly service. read more

The best place in the area to go for your bevs! Between the knowledgeable, laid back service to the super impressive selection, Benz is top notch. Our first visit was generously spent browsing. BF and I both found a bev we'd been on the lookout for, but weren't able to find at any other places (yes, even John's Grocery didn't have the beer he was looking for!) and I found a "special edition" Absolut Brooklyn vodka (ginger and red apple flavor) as well as one of my other favorites: Van Gogh Double Espresso vodka...yummm. The deli counter was enticing as well as their specialty/gourmet items. Definitely plan on going back often and would love to go to a tasting. A great venue for many different awesome tastings (including: Benz Beerfest, Benz Beer & Wine Tastings, etc...). Benz Beverage Depot has a great selection of beer, wine, and alcohol. They even have beers that have been aged available for purchase. I enjoy walking through Benz Beverage Depot to see what new craft beers they have available. Benz continues to hold one of the best selections for beer, wine and alcohol in the area. Their large cooler also has excellent deals for gra-and-go beer. Cedar Rapids is lucky to have place like this. Benz is stocked with some of the best wine and beer selections you will ever find. They also have some great specialty food items you won't find elsewhere; we got some andouille sausage from here for gumbo I made at Christmas. If you are looking for a unique gift for that special someone or something to bring as a host(ess) gift, you really should make this your first stop. I've never been to any of them, but they also sponsor lots of events like wine and scotch tastings, which you can find out their latest offerings by way of their e-mail newsletter. read more

Best beer, wine and spirit selection in CR. Though Johns Grocery in IC may have them beat on the beer. They also host many tastings and events. So make sure and check them out. Typically pay like $10 and try it all. I think they do Thur night ladys night out tastings/party still. Must check out their food selections too, the nice hard to get items. As well as their new deli counter, fresh meats and cheeses and goodies. I was so glad to see this as I typically have to drive into DSM to Graziano Bro's Italian grocery store for some of these things. Great service! I emailed a list of items I wanted to buy. They sent back what they had and the costs and were able to accomodate this without anyone leaving the car. They did this even though they were very busy and could have told me they didn't do curbside, instead Matt adapted and worked with me to give way above par service! read more

This place is amazing! They have a great selection of wine,liquor,beer as well as meats, cheeses, crackers, spreads, and pastas. I am here almost every other month stocking up on great beer and wine. The prices are better here than at my local grocer and there is much more of a selection. They also carry a few home brew items such as hops, malt, barley, sanitizing and botteling equipment. This is also a great place to shop for gift wine because the staff here is rather knowledgeable about the wines they sell and are great with assisting you in finding something the giftee will enjoy and not throw away ha! read more

This place has a huge variety of craft beer, wine, and sake. I've been on the search for gluten free beer but every time I see the few they do have in stock they seem to be expired. So if you're not looking for a gluten free beer this place is definitely the place to go for all of your alcohol needs. read more

Terrible customer service. Cashier made rude comments to our party as we entered the store and was also extremely rude throughout checkout, even going so far as to throw something on the floor. We later found the same alcohol at the grocery store for cheaper. Don't go here unless you want to be insulted and spend more money. read more

Let me start this out by saying Benz has an amazing selection of beer, but I will never be going back. I have been to Benz twice and had the same experience twice. There is a short haired female employee has has a serious attitude problem and has talked to me like im stupid both times I have been in the store. Today I came in looking for beer from a specific brewery called Clown Shoes. The previously mentioned employee had a dumbfounded look on her face when I asked if they had anything from this brewery. She made a sarcastic remark about my friend who had suggested this brewery. She offered no help to search and see if they had anything from this brewery. After looking for about 3 minutes on my own I was able to locate the exact bee I came in looking for. When I told the employee that they do indeed have the beer, she got an attitude with me saying that is not what I had asked for, that I had said "Two Left Feet" instead of clown shoes. When I told her I knew what I asked for, she said "Whatever, as long as your buying it I don't care". I will never go back to Benz again as I felt like I was not welcome there. If Benz decides to get rid of this employee I would be willing to come back, but they have likely lost lots of business because of her and her horrible attitude that left me with the same feeling of being unwelcome both times I have been to Benz. read more
