Surprisingly fresh for a regular small fast food sushi chain shop…read more
As I was ordering, telling the lady at the counter that I pretty much like everything, she urged me to just take one specific pre-made sushi platters off their shelf. I was reluctant, because usually those aren't fresh lol But she assured me that they were made this morning (I went for lunch). So I accepted, just to give her wish a chance :P
One of the sushi types had tempura inside, and it literally was still fresh and crispy, as if it was just made, so she really wasn't kidding. I think she knew that if it didn't sell soon, that they'd have to throw it out. I've made tempura at home with the family, so I know that if it's not eaten shortly after it's made, that it goes soggy. Her urging me to take it makes me feel like she keeps an eye on her stock and makes sure things stay fresh :)
They're sushi obviously wasn't high end, though their ingredients were well put together, it's simple sushi. Rice was fresh and not too soft or hard, seaweed wrap was also not too hard or soft, avocados were not brown n'or did it taste bland, fish was normal and delicious, and all their textures in general were good. As far as I could tell, nothing smelled off, and I felt good for the rest of the following days.
I also ordered a bottled cold tea, which was a type I haven't seen anywhere before. It had 100% Vitamin C! I wish they sold this everywhere
I was so happy to see they had black sesame ice cream! It was overly frozen in it's pre-ready container, so I shouldn't have asked to take it only after my meal. Would had been better if I had let it sit for 5 minutes before starting on it. As I was eating it, it eventually softened and warmed up, and was great :)
The place was small, clean and peaceful with a few customers. Only interruption was an abrasive man entering and hassling the old Asian couple, to pay to join his advertising website. Honestly, that guy made me mad, he sounded like a scam artist. He was just so rude to them, but I was too shy to say something. (The staff were still polite towards him.) The most I did was give him a dirty look when he tried to polity speak to me on his way out. If only I had the nerve... lol
