Olson needs an update, but livable. If you have a choice, go to Gavin Hall. Free light continental breakfast.

I say that with all politeness but I wouldn't be being fully transparent if I didn't mention it. If you are new to the area and looking for a place to stay nearby, this Hampton Inn location is an excellent decision. When I told my son we'd grab a place to stay 2minutes from the base the evening before he was set to report back at 6a, he wasn't overly thrilled. I assured him it looked ok from my research. As soon as he realized it was next door to the Infantry Museum he knew it was ok. The staff were very friendly. We slept well at night. The hotel has a pool and serves a hot breakfast in the morning. They have a small military discount and while I haven't stayed at anything on the base I can confidently say this is a safe and great place to stay if you're looking to be nearby. If you're traveling as a family, the pool and brekke options may be especially nice. Had I known there was a pool sooner, I think we would have spent a bit of time out there. Perfect for summer stays! They had cookies out at night and I spotted grab and go style lunch/snack packs during the day, in addition to coffee/tea/hot cocoa out 24/7. They have small refrigerators in the room (no freezer) we did root beer floats for dessert but ended up needing to toss our ice-cream as we wouldn't be able to freeze it. Plenty of safe, lit parking in large lot out front. I mention this as we had two cars (a rental and his car we'd have transported to Columbus) full of my sons belongings and I really wanted to ensure that his items were safe overnight. Exceptional waffle maker at the breakfast buffet! Made the most perfectly crisp waffle :) Clean, comfy and caring. You're in good hands here.

This place was infested with cockroaches. they allow people to make all kind of racket coming in and out at 2:30 3 o'clock in the morning. then I spoke with another gentleman and they only charged him and his partner $50 for a room. After charging me 85 with the military discount. I would not let my dog sleep in this place again. I will send pictures of the room when I get back to it. Is the absolute worst motel I've ever seen in my life. I would never ever again spend even $20 per night in a place like this.

My husband and I checked into the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus/Fort Benning, 3901…read moreVictory Dr, Columbus, Georgia hoping for a pleasant stay. When I went into the bathroom to wash my hands, I immediately noticed a stained and unclean towel so I decided to check a few more. There were several towels that were obviously nasty which left me with an uncomfortable feeling about the cleanliness of our room. I called downstairs and asked to speak with the manager and the receptionist (Carlin) said he was in a meeting and asked what she could help me with so I started explaining to her about the stained/nasty towels hanging in our bathroom. Suddenly the phone clicked out, so, I called back to the front desk in a matter of seconds and the manager (Mr. Alex, an Indian man) answered however, I could here the lady talking to him in the background. The manager said that they've been having big problems with the phone whereas it'll just cut off. I told him to let me hold on the phone while the receptionist (Carlin) tell him what my complaint was. He asked me what the problem was and I said to him if the phone is gonna keep turning off then let me hold on while Carlin explained to him about my concern. Nonetheless, he wasn't listening and was very rude. I told Mr. Alex that I was running out of time to prepare for my pick so we simply ended the call. In addition to the nasty towels, there was a red shirt left in the drawer that had something about abortions on it. Those issues were clear indicators that the room had not been properly cleaned or sanitized. At that point my husband and I would've checked out but it was the week for military graduations and all of the hotels were fully booked. We sanitized the room ourselves with OdoBan, Lysol and Clorox wipes. We thought to also go to a local store to simply purchase our own towels. Taking into account of Covid, germs, and other viruses that's around nowadays, cleanliness along with sanitation should be first and foremost however, at this location it's obviously not their concern. This Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus/Fort Benning, 3901 Victory Dr, Columbus, Georgia is NOT the norm for the well known hotel chain. I will NEVER, EVER reserve this hotel again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Whoever is the Lead for housekeeping ought to be fired along with the manager (Mr. Alex). This particular hotel sets a terrible example for the Holiday Inn Express chain. When visiting Columbus, Georgia it would behoove visitors not to reserve a room at this hotel and seek accomandations elsewhere in order to be safe. Stay here at your own risk!!!

I don't know if I should be writing this or not. I mean, it's not like I have a lot of choice here…read morewhen I come here. I am, after all, here on orders and since this is the only place where I can stay officially if there is room then I there's no point. The first time I came here it was for what amounted to an extended weekend. I was hooked up with a great extended stay suite with a kitchen that was well sotcked with pots and pans and flatware, a bath tub and two tvs. Who says government housing sucks? I do. I'm here for a month this time and after being greeted by a surly desk clerk who couldn't find my reservation because someone thought my last name started with an 'e.' I get to my room and I'm shocked to discover that I don't have a kitchen but I have a fridge and a microwave. Does this make sense to anyone else? because it does not to me. I go downstairs to ask if I can maybe get a room change and same surly desk clerk brushed me off and said to talk to a manager the next day. This really won't apply to the larger community but if you're military try to get per diem lodging off-post. One of the guys here managed to get an extended stay suite right near the main gate that has a full kitchen and everything. Stay away unless you can get an extended suite here for sure.

What you should expect are run down, dim hallways, taped-up windows, leaky ceilings, and the occasional scalding water. However, there are some pros when compared to staying in the nearby barracks. There's an occasional kitchenette (depending on what section you're placed at), a fizzing, potentially electrocuting microwave, fridge, ceiling fan, boob tube, and the comfort and privacy of being all by your lonesome self and not buffing floors with the Privates on weekends. On another note, if you have a POV, I highly suggest you take their offer to send you to the Doubletree (20 mins away), unless you don't mind giving up the 800 thread count sheets, complimentary breakfasts at Houlihans, and warm welcome cookies :-)

I went to the front desk and advised I had a reservation and a male handed me the keys to room 26 and advised if I was not satisfied, he would cancel the reservation and not charge me. Like so many other reviews from customers, management's only intention is to take your money and leave you completely UNSATISFIED and scammed!!! Regarding room 26, it was dirty, the bed covering was old and smelled and the toilet and tub were rust covered and bugs were having a play date on the floor. The unfortunate thing, is that customers from all over come book reservations here and until they arrive at the property they realize they are trapped...unable to cancel and still have to pay. This is also a poor reflection on Booking.con, Expedia, TripAdvisor, etc for promoting places like this!!!!

I know it's a…read morecheap place and I shouldn't expect much but there should be some minimum acceptable standard. First off, the other reviewer is talking about a completely different place over near Savannah. This place doesn't have a buffet and even if it did you wouldn't want it. First off they advertise a Pool and COLOR Cable TV. Can you call it a pool if there's no water in it? The Registration/Check-in was just nasty. I should have turned around. There's a mangy cat on the counter licking itself and the guy behind the counter no kidding has no more than four upper teeth and a speech impediment. He wanted a $50.00 deposit on the room! The nightly rate wasn't $50.00! It didn't get better at the room. The door knob on the door was close to falling off. No point in locking it, just take the knob off. There wasn't much inside to steal anyway. Yes, they have Color Cable TV On a 17" TV with a tube, not flat screen. The cable must have been new because the Rabbit Ears antenna was still on the top of the set. No remote and it was bolted to the dresser. I asked for a single bed because it was just me down here for the week. I should have gotten a double to provide adequate accommodations to the cock roaches running around. I call base housing and make arrangements to spend the week. Had to use my cell because there wasn't a phone. Actually there was one and it looked like someone threw it at a wall. Either way, no dialtone. I'm good now. Got arrangements at the base, didn't even unpack. Step into the restroom before driving down to Benning and there is a LARGE dead rat in the toilet. It either drowned or died from the toxins in the water. Apparenly "housekeeping" didn't notice. Do you flush it? I decided to hold off until I checked in at Benning. Good thing because the last person to use the restroom wiped with the toilet paper but didn't take it off the roll first! So nasty. No shower curtain so the water apparently went everywhere, causing significant mold growth. Back up front, I toss the keys over the counter and let the guy know I'm not staying in this place. Not even moving to another room. I'd rather sleep in the middle of Victory Drive and take my chances. He argues about refunding the money while an argument goes down in the parking lot outside that leads me to believe gunfire isn't far away. We go back and fourth and I finally get my money. Step out and the two dudes that were arguing are literally beating the crap out of each other. Like UFC type beating. I pull out and make a left as a squad car pulls into the lot. Not sure who called them but they didn't call from my room. No mas.

Wow, what a tip!! I stopped at this place on I-95 while returning to New York the other day for lunch. It is basically a motel dining room buffet so you enter through the motel entrance. Met by a lovely southern accented hostess we payed our $16 (for the both of us!!!) and proceed to the buffet table. This amazing buffet had Fried chicken, baked chicken, sausage, chitlins, beef stew, stewed chicken, barbecued pork, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, string beans, butter beans, black eyed peas, collard greens, corn bread and biscuits as well as a few other things (so many on this buffet, I forgot). The fried chicken, mostly dark meat and wings, was moist and tender with a fantastic crunchy coating. The sausages were nice and spicy, baked chicken thigh, flavorful and all the extras were hot and delicious. The return to the buffet for dessert was a treat with three types of cobblers, a number of cakes and pies as well as banana pudding. The standout was the peach cobbler with the best and flakiest crust I ever tasted!! Our waitress never stopped filling our glasses with delicious sweet tea as well. So, if you find yourself on I-95 heading for your destination and feel a little hunger pang coming on make this another destination. It's worth the stop.

This whole side of town was a bit run down. I thought my GPS was lost but alas no. On first glance the room was nice. Then I inspected the room, as is my custom when I am in a new room. No bed bugs, no stains on the bed, no weird smells, clean bathroom, but stained carpet and worn out chairs. The walls were thin and there were children on our floor with shrill voices, so that was a headache. Amenities provided that we used: + Full-sized fridge + Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap + Coffee maker We considered eating the provided breakfast but skipped out to meal with friends in town. Wish the hotel room was a little less run down, but it served its purpose.
