In February I had Milton irrigation come to my lakefront property and redesign my lake irrigation…read moresystem and to bring my system to optimal function (clear out all the pipes etc...) because I was having problems with muck clogging my the system. They recommended that I have the system go under my dock and stop at the end of the dock. They installed the system several feet off the ground and two months later when the lake dropped as all lakes in florida go up and down, the system started sucking air, melted one of my pipes to the pump and burned out the pump. My irrigation system is not working at all at this point. I called Milton and asked them to fix their design, stand behind their work - they told me that it was my fault because I had told them to put it there which was not true at all. My exact words were that they were the experts and I needed them to design it so it would work - that I trusted their expertise. They wouldn't even come look at it for three weeks. And they came out this morning and told me it was my fault and I would have to pay for them to redesign the system. So $692.00 later I have an irrigation system that is worse off than it was before they got here and they were 100% unwilling to correct their mistakes and stand behind their work. The owner was rude. Did not take responsibility. Called me a liar and I kicked his crew off my property.

We wanted to be home to make certain that the ground underneath was tilled or scraped and then top soil spread prior to installation of the sod. We paid for upgraded Scott ProVista St. Augustine sod from Duda & Sons. A few weeks later, after noticing that the grass was turning brown in spite of proper watering, someone from Hogan came and lifted the sod in a few locations and told us that the sod was not taking root and was brown on the underside. We have called repeatedly and asked that someone come and explain what they can do to fix the issue. They've promised that a manager would come out (never happened). Technically they have completed all of the tasks listed in their contract, sod follow-up inspection (this is when the inspector told us the sod had not rooted), irrigation management, follow-up visit by spray tech to apply preventive insecticide and nutrients to develop roots but the grass is still yellow/brown/dead after 5 weeks. We have had ample rain and watered repeatedly Additionally, the sod was installed in such a way that we are unable to open our gate and have asked that they fix that as well. Now they are refusing to take and/or return our calls.

We chose Madewell because they were reasonably priced and didn't try to BS us like the other two. Not sure why some contractors think eveyone is ignorant just because they dont want to be bothered with doing the job themselves. We did our homework. This was a 3 stage process. Stage one...spay and kill off the the old grass and weeds. Stage 2...the next week they removed all the old dead grass and weeds. Stage 3...laying of the new sod, which actually happened over a month later because of COVID-19 and waiting for good healthy sod. They also adjusted all the sprinklers if needed to make sure there was adequate coverage. The sod was delivered from the sod company and looked beautiful and healthy. We watered for 30 min, 2x a day for a month. Our lawn is absolutely beautiful and healthy and by week 3 had already taken to the soul. We get compliments all the time. My neighbors are probably just happy not be looking at a dirt yard any longer.
