We also had them check our system after the winter, but when we turned on the irrigation not long after, there were 2 good-sized hose leaks shooting water into the air! When we tried the system again after they came back to fix these, we found that he had capped off the line to one of our raised beds rather than actually fixing/reconnecting it. When we were able to look at it more closely, it was obvious as you can see in the photos! Ended up reconnecting it myself.

Despite the fact that they were incredibly busy due to an unusually warm April, they were able to send out an employee within a few days, who was very friendly and professional, and did a wonderful job with the repair. When I noticed the repaired sprinkler not pop up the next day as the sprinklers went off I called and spoke with Jerry. He came out the next day (on the weekend) himself. He went through the sprinkler system with me and discovered that the issue was with my timer, not the repair his employee had made. Jerry cheerfully adjusted my timer for me so it worked properly. I was SO impressed by Blue Whale Sprinkler Service. Levi, Kang, and their exceptionally capable…read moreteam took on a complicated irrigation repair that required far more than simply replacing a few sprinkler heads. Our system had been poorly designed and installed by a previous contractor, with a boggling number of buried pipes and connections to perforated driplines. One severely overtaxed line ran beneath a driveway and concrete wall and across challenging terrain, making its routing extremely difficult to decipher. Fortunately, I had saved some photos from the original landscape installation. Kang carefully worked through that cache of photos, identifying where pipes emerged and reconstructing how the system had been put together so the team could design something better. They are truly excellent problem-solvers. One experience particularly showed me how committed they were to getting the job right. Based partly on my suggestion, they initially excavated a location for the new valve box at the lower end of the yard, where another box already existed. Once they better understood the system, however, Kang realized there might not be enough water pressure to feed the new segments back uphill from that location. He checked in with me, explained the issue clearly, and said they were willing to proceed as planned--but strongly recommended relocating the box so the new system would work properly. They filled in the hole they had already dug, excavated a new valve box near the backflow preventer at the front of the yard, and installed approximately 150 feet of additional control wiring, all without increasing the price. They did this because they wanted the finished system to be right. That level of integrity is rare. Levi and his team were also wonderfully flexible about helping me find a practical scope of work. Their initial proposal addressed more of the system, but we worked together to prioritize the most critical repairs while allowing me to handle a few projects I felt comfortable taking on myself, including installing a new controller and completing some wiring. They even installed an extra valve for a future line and left me with parts so I can make that connection when I'm ready. I never felt pressured; I felt supported in making sensible decisions for both the system and my budget. Over one weekend, the team divided the overtaxed line into four manageable zones, installed new valves and lines, and rebuilt the section where excessive water had become a serious threat to our vine maple. They worked incredibly hard, communicated thoughtfully, and approached every challenge with skill and care. I could not recommend Blue Whale Sprinkler Service more highly. If you have a difficult irrigation problem and want a team that will think it through, explain your options, and care deeply about the quality of the result, call them.

They are truly service-oriented from the moment you reach out to them, and it starts with Dan. He's friendly, responsive and provides detailed estimates immediately for whatever work is needed. We have a 5-zone sprinkler system with a combination of drip lines and sprinklers in the front and backyard. It's a funky arrangement that needed a serious upgrade. His crew (Marvin and Jose) are miracle workers! They are real problem solvers who managed to reroute some existing sprinkler lines, fix several hidden leaks and provide more water coverage in several zones. Marvin and Jose are a joy to watch. They really enjoy their work and it shows. Marvin will even sing while he's putting in new drip lines or tying off others, and nothing seems to faze him. Both men are polite, courteous and appreciative of drinks and snacks while they work. They say "Thank you, so much" every time. After spending the entire day at our home, we tested the system and everything worked well, but there were a few dry spots I noticed the next day. Dan came by today to collect payment and I showed him the areas where water wasn't quite reaching and he said, "No problem." Marvin and Jose will come back to make a few adjustments -- at no extra charge. Best of all, the new parts they install are guaranteed for 5 years instead of one. Who does that? All in all, this was a terrific experience and I wish I had hired this company 13 years ago when we landscaped our yard. I'm so impressed with them and you will be, too.

I had just moved to the Portland metro area from VA and into this beautiful home that needed some help with the rather large outside area-full of trees. When we met we went full scope with a vision for my backyard; it started with removing weed cloth from all mulched areas (no small feat since the previous owners wanted to suffocate all grass). The next project was to make sure the seven irrigation zones; with about 35 sprinklers-were optimally working and positioned to best provide water to my entire yard, which is on a corner. The third and most impactful improvement, was that of the walkway from the driveway to the patio under the deck. The pre-inspection of the house revealed deficiencies and water hazards in the old walkway. He transformed the area and it looks amazing. The fourth element was to replace 5 trees that are privacy hedges from a previous gardener (who did not perform). So now, we will put to the test whether the trees survive, because the sprinklers perform, and the water drains properly while providing a steady walkway that my disabled MIL can walk to enter our 4 level home. Thank you, Jesus- I am so happy to have met you and I hope we can have many more projects together!
