Top notch service!…read more I had an exceptional experience with Nevin and C&F Mortgage for the purchase of my second home. With the mortgage crisis several years ago trying to get a loan these days no matter how much money you make or have in investment accounts is a pain in the butt. Throw in the fact that I also work for myself and have this weird way in which income makes it way to my bank account, it would take me months to get a loan through any large institution. What was so great with my experience with C&F is that the underwriters are located in Virginia Beach. I was able to walk in to meet with Nevin, drop off supporting documents and explain such documents like my income, bank statements and profit/loss statements to various people. In other worlds, your information is scanned and some random person 100 or 1000 miles away would review your file and there would be considerable lag into getting things approved. Here I was able to talk it out and someone was able to understand me right away. There was no messenger in my particular experience. All related parties with my loan were courteous, fast to respond and very understanding of my busy schedule. The fact that I was able to speak to someone in the loan approval process directly given my different circumstances made this transaction go over very smoothly. It was 30 days from offer to the seller from when I was able to get into the home. That includes two weeks of waiting on my house to get some minor upgrades from the inspection. Definitely recommended.

Jennifer was the best possible person who we could have worked with when trying to secure a home quickly and easily. We were first time home buyers and not sure if we should go with a local lender or a big bank. While we were shopping around for the best rate and Loan Officer, we found that Jennifer quickly rose to the top in terms of knowledge, accessibility, and ability to work quickly and effectively. She truly cared about us and our process and was honest and forthcoming, which made us feel at ease throughout the process. From day one, Jennifer was so explanatory and made it so easy to understand all of the seemingly daunting financial elements of purchasing a home. Jennifer was always accessible - evenings and weekends, and we never felt that we couldn't get in touch with her if we needed her. Jennifer closed on our house in 21 DAYS!!! This was incredibly quick, and she did it all while being incredibly friendly, helpful and optimistic throughout the process. Not only that but she secured us a great rate and saved us so much money. I HIGHLY recommend Jennifer and Southern Trust Mortgage! Especially if you are a first time home buyer and not sure where to turn!

I ended up changing the type of loan I had mid way through and the person I was working with took care of everything incredibly quickly. In fact, the only time I ever remotely questioned the service was when I hadn't heard from them since the previous Thursday, I called to check in on Monday because in the past they were in contact even on weekends. I learned that the woman in charge of my loan had a daughter sick in the hospital. Despite the fact that she was there taking care of her, she was already finished with my stuff I just hadn't seen it yet. I couldnt believe how much she genuinely seemed to care about making the process simple. I recommended this company to a friend as well he is close to closing himself and has had no issues either. I think the bad reviews on here might be the exception. Anyone thinking about uising this company should look at reviews on other sites as well. In my single opinion, they are fantastic.
