I was kept informed throughout the entire process and was never left wondering what was happening at any given point in time. I tried to be really proactive and do my homework about any piece of documentation possible that might be required. Between that and our LO's dilligence, I never had to go back after that first meeting. The day we looked at the house we wanted, our agent suggested a closing date of January 28th and Tidwater Home Funding ensured we met that date. This took another few days and we missed closing scheduled for the first time. We missed the second as well since there were no final disclosures issued. There were many more mistakes made in process by them. The worst thing: We paid their mistakes and the money (deposit) from my 10 year old son has been retained by the seller! With the mortgage crisis several years ago trying to get a loan these days no matter how much money you make or have in investment accounts is a pain in the butt. Throw in the fact that I also work for myself and have this weird way in which income makes it way to my bank account, it would take me months to get a loan through any large institution. What was so great with my experience with C&F is that the underwriters are located in Virginia Beach. I was able to walk in to meet with Nevin, drop off supporting documents and explain such documents like my income, bank statements and profit/loss statements to various people. In other worlds, your information is scanned and some random person 100 or 1000 miles away would review your file and there would be considerable lag into getting things approved. Here I was able to talk it out and someone was able to understand me right away. There was no messenger in my particular experience. All related parties with my loan were courteous, fast to respond and very understanding of my busy schedule. The fact that I was able to speak to someone in the loan approval process directly given my different circumstances made this transaction go over very smoothly. It was 30 days from offer to the seller from when I was able to get into the home. That includes two weeks of waiting on my house to get some minor upgrades from the inspection. It is not professional either, they at least needs to cc me to let me know. Also, there is zero communication with the employees in this company. Every time Leslie Guidry and Michael Oak tell us different stories and sent us different emails. For example, one person said we need this and then the other one said we do not needt this documents. I am wondering if they work for the same company or it is juts scam.
