I loved the office and how welcoming they all were. Our agent was the sweetest woman and was very informative. I though the process was going to be long and horrific, but she had us out of there within a half hour. They were referred to us from USAA, so I am not quite positive who all they work with, but if you are ever referred to them, give them a whirl. They certainly helped us out and made the process all the more easier, and I love my cozy new home :)

Am I ever glad that our Realtor referred us to Tidewater Home Funding. From the first call with our loan officer to get preapproved, we were treated like gold. The process of meeting in person to sign all of the initial loan application paperwork went so smoothly and I felt so reassured about what would happen next and what to expect. Like Nikki's photo suggests, I walked in to a sign on the desk personally welcoming me. I was kept informed throughout the entire process and was never left wondering what was happening at any given point in time. I tried to be really proactive and do my homework about any piece of documentation possible that might be required. Between that and our LO's dilligence, I never had to go back after that first meeting. The day we looked at the house we wanted, our agent suggested a closing date of January 28th and Tidwater Home Funding ensured we met that date. I couldn't believe how the entire thing went off without a single hitch or the constant back and forth that I've heard so many other people describe. I would absolutely recommend THF to anyone considering buying a home. I couldn't be happier with the process and of course, the outcome...our first home.

So disappointed in how our home buying experience went. Be wary of people that use their own guys…read moreto do inspections and fix things. They are probably working for them so they get the sale! Here are just a few things that the inspector and realtor did not catch or mention: The electrical connections for the fans upstairs were a major fire hazard and I simply cannot believe this was overlooked. Whoever connected the fans before, connected them to a 220V AC unit for the sunroom. They kept lowering the gauge of the wire so it went form 10 gauge (dual 20A breaker) to 12 gauge to 14 gauge wire and eventually to 18 gauge and it kept blowing lights and burning motors on the fans. Not only did the inspector not notice it, but the contractor that replaced or fixed the fans didn't say anything about it!!!! They also forgot to mention that there were no electrical boxes behind the ceiling fans. They were screwed in directly to the joist through the drywall. Of course, that is not what we were told. Also, another major issue is that the hood over the stove is vented to the sunroom as well which was never put in the inspector's report, and I am sure will be another electrical issue. I am also pretty sure that this particular home model had a loft that was converted into a third bedroom and that information was never given to us. I am not sure why any of this was not caught by the inspector, but this is why I had pressed hard for a second inspection by a different inspector. In the backyard there is a shed that is in bad shape and was found to have termite damage. I asked if the homeowner would be willing to remove it, only to be told by my own realtor that was ridiculous. And sure maybe it is, but then what is the harm in asking! Our sunroom had a bad panel in it. We were told oh it will get fixed but not until after the closing. I wasn't having it and wanted out of the house and voiced my opinion about the house, and me wanting out, and another inspection. All of the sudden the night before closing everything is fixed! So the realtor quickly got someone to go in and patch it up. Heck for all I know it could have been him! We didn't even have time to look! My husband says whoever did patchwork did a lousy job and the fact that the paperwork stated they needed to use a qualified contractor for everything. That was never done. Our sunroom leaks of course right where that panel is now! I feel like a fool for a number of reasons. First, I knew in my gut there was something not right about this house. There were so many things that came up in the inspection but I could also tell it just wasn't a good well maintained home. There was a lot of work that needed to be done and I didn't trust the inspector's report. I desperately wanted a second opinion and was basically shut down. Then at closing my name was left off the deed. I should have gotten up and ran then! I felt like I was being forced into buying this house and it wasn't like buying a house it was like buying a used car! Also at closing I felt like I was forced to write a review about the experience. I was made to feel bad for wanting so much to get done, that I felt like I was in the wrong! I was actually feeling guilty and very pregnant, so I wrote what I felt would be fair ,but it is not the way I truly felt. My husband has had to fix so many things with this house already, thank God we've documented all of it too, I am planning on taking my situation elsewhere. My advice: HIRE YOUR OWN INSPECTOR! And if you are not happy with your realtor or the answers they give you get a new one!

The largest complaint I have is that they don't take the time to see what the owner really wants and how the owner wants their property managed. Additionally, the amount of turnover is detrimental.
