I have spent thousands on SW paints for my homes, vacation home and rental properties. I recently got what the manager admitted must have been a "bad gallon" and that it happens. A bad gallon of the most expensive brand around? I mixed it with a power drill paddle, got a big clump and thought that was it. I rolled 2 walls, went to remix and pour more- a big skin came off the walls of the can and more clumps. The clumps/skin amounted to a large percentage of the can. But he would not exchange the gallon, and we were told to strain it and offered 50% off a future purchase. I have recommended and praised their paint to many people, but no more. I will be buying my paint elsewhere from now on.

Over time, the customer service and general vibe of this store has gotten increasingly negative. I actually saw another recent review calling out the fact that the guy doesn't normally even take the time to review a hardware store, but the interactions are so negative that he felt like sharing and I couldn't feel more in agreement. I'm not sure what the deal is. Most employees are hanging around with RBF ready to look inconvenienced by the presence of customers. They like to give the impression of helpfulness shrouded in resentment and seemingly fatigue. I just got back from purchasing some tape which they insisted that someone help me with and then they sold me the wrong tape, which I then had to return to the store to return and buy the right tape. No, " I apologize for the inconvenience" or "sorry about that" Literally nothing. The dude that just "helped" me is just hanging back watching me return his selection about to cough up a lung. i'm starting to really believe that I'm being loyal to a fault, trying to give a small business some support, but honestly, I'd rather drive to another location or another business. Don't even get me started on the big guy that works outside where you pick up mulch- lol he's been a jerk for years! If misery loves company- they sure have all found each other. The exceptions to this should be mentioned but they weren't working tonight. The best part of the store is the garden department. There are some absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable people that work in that section!

Only thing is the paint is a custom paint color with the name of my neighborhood as the name of the color. Ace, Home Depot, Lowe's looked at me like I was crazy asking for WGV Burgandy. That is the correct spelling Burgandy. Lol. That's when I heard about this specific location from an older neighbor. Turns out 25 years ago this was the only place to get paint in Saint Augustine. So I take the 25 minute drive past 20 home stores hoping for the best. AND THE BEST WAS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT! After a quick explanation about what I needed one worker turns to the other and says check the filing cabinet. The filing cabinet lol. My neighborhood folder was way in the back and they had to dust it off, but get this, THIS PLACE HAS A FOLDER FOR EVERY SINGLE NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE SAINT AUGUSTINE AREA AND THE PAINT CODES AND COLOR SWATCHES FOR EVERYTHING. If you want to paint it yourself and could never find the custom paint code your HOA has used, this is your place. Fast friendly service, great quality products, and they run sales so prices during the sale are great. Highly Recommend this Place.

Thankfully the staff here put my mind at ease - they have the right products and the expertise. This first trip which was part of my due diligence turned out to be my saving grace, sure you can find anything you need online but nothing replaces talking face to face with an expert, especially one who understands the challenges and the complete process. This is a beautiful store filled with everything you need whether you're a professional or a DYI type person like myself - it's rare to find this level of customer service and knowledge these days at a retail store.
