As 2022…read morecomes to a close we have so many things to be grateful for. 2022 was a very tough year for my wife and I in so many ways. She had many health issues that required hospitalization on 3 or 4 occasions. The main cause was diverticulitis & UTI's that kept reoccurring & causing severe infection & pain. It became apparent that the diverticulitis wasn't going to just go away. As is the case during her last hospitalization there were so many interns, residents, doctors & specialists that came to see my wife in the process of determining the issues & what the best course of action would be. It's very frustrating having everyone & everything coming into her room. All the specialists urologists, radiologists, infection control doctors & colon surgeons (Dr Park). Dr Park is a very knowledgeable, likable & personable doctor that took the time to explain what needed to be done to prevent the continuing bouts w/diverticulitis. He said surgery should be done to prevent these reoccurring bouts. He performed the surgery back in November of 2022 & as of this date April 12 2023 there haven't been any reoccurring bouts with my wife's diverticulitis. Thank you Dr Park for a great job. We are both very grateful that things have returned to normal.

He was in pain, uncomfortable and barely sleeping during the night. Our vet refused to operate because of the size and the location of the tumor. The doh also has a heart murmur, which would make a surgery more complicated. He sent us home with painkillers telling us to keep him comfortable for the short amount of time he has left. I brought him to another vet who said the same thing. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Kotev. I brought the dog to him. Dr Kotev did the surgery couple of days later. He did phenomenal work. It's been 3 months now, and I have the happiest and healthiest dog ever! No pain, no discomfort, and he is more energetic and happier than ever! Dr. Kotev, your kindness, knowledge and surgical skills are greatly appreciated! From all my heart - thank you!

A friend of mine recommended Dr Kotev and I am so glad we went to him. He's the most knowledgeable and kind vet! I went for the…read morefirst time last year (every woman should have a baseline mammogram at age 35, and then yearly starting at 40). Pretty terrified, actually. I've heard that mammograms are excruciatingly painful. And, sitting around in that stupid hospital-issue gown (with black socks!) doesn't do much for your dignity. But let me tell you -- the technicians put me at ease right away. Very friendly and explained the procedure step-by-step. The breast compression, while not comfortable, proved not to be the torture I'd imagined. The tech went slowly, and said she'd stop if it got too painful for me. (Staffers even entertained my infant outside, since she wasn't allowed in the room) When the x-rays came back inconclusive, they called right away and asked me to come back ASAP. I started to freak out, but the woman explained that a lot of women have dense tissue that requires a closer look for the first mammogram. Thankfully, I got a clean bill of health. My next appt. is in a couple of weeks. Now for the public service announcement: ladies, go get yourself checked out. You don't have to come here, just go. It's not something to dread. The discomfort is momentary and in the big picture, this could well save your life.

Might I add that he has unbelievable 5 o'clock shadow, reminds me of GI Joe's crewcut. I was a bit apprehensive about the length of the amniocentesis needle & Dr. Keller said in all seriousness, "It's not the length, it's the width". My sister and I busted out laughing as the doctor looked on, admittedly confused. When I got pregnant again last summer, I figured why bother my regular gyno? I'll just go right to the source because he'll only refer me there anyway, right? Well, they didn't seem to like my way of doing things...like you don't go to them unless you are referred, since they're a high risk practice. I had to substantiate my right to be there, that I was high risk before and nothing has changed, so I'm most definitely still high risk. Sooo, I didn't like that...and then my usual gyno was a bit miffed that I didn't call him first to let him know @ the pregnancy.

The doctors at AHI appear to be highly qualified and leaders in their field. They also run a very…read morepolite and attentive office. Therefore, I don't understand why their business model is such that they are denying Medicare patients (and perhaps non-Medicare patients) the right to fully use their benefits. AHI requires a $5500 "surgical fee" and then they lie to you that it is necessary because Medicare "may not pay" for robotic-assisted surgery (among other things listed on their Advance Beneficiary Notice of Non-coverage). A direct quote from an AHI billing specialist: "AHI doesn't bill the robotic-assisted part of surgery because Medicare doesn't pay the amount AHI needs to cover their expenses." As explained by Medicare, "a company can choose not to sign a contractual price assignment with Medicare for the robotic-assisted portion of their bill." (Because they can't get a good Medicare reimbursement. In other words, make enough money.) So AHI charges Medicare (and perhaps non-Medicare) patients $5500 to enrich their bottom line. Think about the level of deception here. AHI tells their patients that part of their bill "may not" be covered when AHI isn't even billing that portion of their bill to insurance and they don't have a contractual agreement with insurance for that portion of the bill! After two phone calls to Medicare I learned that robotic-assisted surgery is, in fact, covered by Medicare. What AHI is doing is shameful. I have paid into Medicare for years and am now at the age where I should be enjoying the benefits of Medicare and this medical office is denying me those rights in order to enrich their profit margin. And ... AHI waits until you are sitting across the desk from their scheduling specialist to tell you about the required $5500 fee. ( After you've made a couple appointment trips to their office; after you've had x-rays). If you choose to go to AHI and think you might be having surgery: 1) Save yourself some time and ask for the $5500 contractual documents up front; 2). Don't sign the documents or pay the fee (you are required to pay the $5500 "the morning of your pre-operative evaluation for surgery"). Rather, contact your insurance provider (First, you will need to get billing codes from AHI's billing dept. in order to talk to any insurance company) and verify what AHI is telling you. Needless to say, I am seeking treatment from another medical practice and all of my robotic-assisted surgery expenses are being paid by Medicare.
