The…read morepark was designed by Brooks and Scarpa architecture landscape urban design, the firm of Professor Jeff Huber of Florida Atlantic University's School of Architecture. DC Alexander Park was designed to address coastal flooding and saltwater exposure by reintroducing native dune and maritime hammock ecosystems. Storm surges are mitigated by vegetated dunes and rubberized surfaces. A reintroduced coastal hammock absorbs rainfall and saltwater while shade is provided by native trees like Green Buttonwood, Gumbo Limbo, and Seagrape. My favorite feature of the park is a 25-foot cantilevered overlook. \When you climb to the top you get a panoramic view of Ft. Lauderdale Beach and the new creative play area with slides, climbing ropes, and swings. Although this park is only 1.2 acres, the design makes clever use of the limited space. This new and modern park is a crown jewel of the Ft Lauderdale beach.

The plaque says "May the park represent love, family values, and be a healthy play environment for many years to come." Although this is a small park, not quite an acre, it is packed with great amenities. Bill Keith Preserve is located in the Shady Banks neighborhood in southwest Fort Lauderdale. Bill Keith Preserve was purchased as part of the Broward County Parks Bond and was officially opened by the City in 2009. The park was named in memory of Bill Keith who was a dedicated preservationist and longtime supporter of the Shady Banks neighborhood. The park is located at 1720 SW 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. Normally open from sunrise to sunset, the park is approximately 3.4 acres and with canoe and kayak access to the South Fork New River. To be honest I was so sorry to see the state of the area. There was so much debris that was on the shore edges. Such a shame. This is one thing I cannot understand. Most people love nature, right? Free stuff? free parks? We pay our taxes! and yet, it looked sorry and sad today. I don't know who is responsible, but I would imagine Bill Keith would be upset to see the demise. To be noted I am a local artist and love photography, so my photos DO NOT depict the "nastiness".

What was once an eyesore for the community has been transformed into a beautiful natural asset. Edgewood is tucked into a corner of Ft. Broward County purchased the trailer park as part of a program to reduce airport noise. It is located near the airports south runway. The park was part of an agreement between the city of Fort Lauderdale, the South Florida Regional Planning Council and the airport when the south runway was going through the approval process. The park has a half mile paved walkway with 8 exercise stations along it. There is even a small hill in the park, an rare sight in Florida. As you exercise you can see and the planes next door at Ft. One important thing to note about this park is that dogs are not allowed. Most passive parks are just a small piece of land and I was amazed at how large this park is. Many people were running, walking, and just playing with their kids. This would be the perfect safe place to teach a child to ride a bike. As I was exercising I saw several birds throughout the park. I had no idea that this massive park was located in such a busy corridor of the city. This is such a fantastic amenity for the Edgewood community.
