My daughter has been with Josh and his studio for 4 years and we wouldn't even think of going anywhere else! Josh is amazing. He is patient, he really takes time to work with his students and he cares. His teaching style is great and our daughter takes pride in the strides she has made with being able to actually play the piano. She is also looking forward to starting guitar lessons this year. Josh also makes the lessons fun and we love how this studio holds two Annual Recitals so the kids get to showcase their music talent in front of an audience. When Josh is unable to make a lesson,(which is rare) but when that happens, he always provides us with an option of another teacher for that particular week and we have taken that option a couple times and each time the teacher was wonderful. The studio fees are extremely comparable with other studios, quite honestly I think they are the best in town! Bottom line - this studio is amazing, the teachers here CARE! They are patient, considerate and they make the lessons fun so the kids can enjoy them while they learn at the same time. If you are looking for a studio for music or vocal lessons, I strongly recommend that you look no further and book a lesson with Josh or any of the teachers at his studio!

From complete beginners to absolutely outstanding pianists - Josh has taken them all the way. Golden Oak Music has been the perfect mix of serious music lessons in a low pressure atmosphere that keeps the kids happy and motivated to keep working and practicing their skills. They take charter school funds, which is great if you home-school, but even if you are paying yourself, their prices are very fair and comparable with other lesson opportunities in the SCV. They offer multiple recital opportunities throughout the year providing children with the opportunity to play for an audience. I really can't say enough about Josh and his team at Golden Oak Music. They are an outstanding group of people who just seem truly excited about sharing their love of music with the next generation.

My daughter seldom persists with activities that require lots of focus and time. My daughters piano skills have been visibly improving, at a faster pace than I have ever expected. I would highly recommend Gayane to anyone who wants their kids to fall in love with music and willingly learn the discipline to learn an instrument

She is a a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California, and if desired, she trains her students for MTAC's Certificate of Merit examinations. Her teaching style consists of a diversified curriculum. In addition to the usual learning of piano pieces, there is a healthy regimen of technique exercises, theory, composition, sight reading, ear training, piano duets and other instrumental accompaniment. In general, it is a more robust learning program in my opinion and her piece selection is purposefully broad from the Russian masters to pop music. My son likes the breadth and now has a deeper understanding for different musical styles. He appreciates that there is no singular "right" style and that the arts are very personal to the composer, the artist and the audience member. It has helped inspire him to write his own compositions, which I feel is an exceptional thing. It has also motivated him to play duets with other instrumentalists and take a more active interest in performing in his school shows, etc. Finally, Olga has encouraged my son to be disciplined and organized with his weekly music theory homework - something not all piano teachers do. Olga is an exceptional teacher and we feel fortunate to have found her.

You know where you only play the same songs over and over again. So from the insistence of my wife to keep her sanity. She signed me up for guitar lessons with Craig! All I can say is my mind has been blown. Craig has taught me so much in 2 years than what I accomplished on my own in 10 years. Craig is so patient, nice and easy to talk to. He really goes out of his way to help you understand the concept at hand. Not only is he an amazing guitar teacher he is also very knowledgeable with gear too. With all that said, my wife is happy now because I have the ability to play new songs. I am happy because I am learning music theory and even now more motivated to play. All thanks to Craig Beck!

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing due to poor communication and a lack of professionalism from the staff--specifically Holly, the assistant general manager. At the first class, no one explained what to expect. Holly didn't offer a tour, walk us through the process, or provide any orientation. My daughter was taken to the back without explanation, and I was told I couldn't accompany her--no reassurance, no details, nothing. I had no idea what was happening during the class. The next day, we returned for the Rock 101 group trial. Once again, no one offered any guidance. When I asked if I could see where she was/what she was doing, Holly stated only instructors could be in the back and passively allowed me to peek into the back but didn't bother to walk me through the space or address my concerns. After the second class, I asked about pricing. Holly told me she'd email me--she never did. I waited until the following week and then had to follow up myself, but never received a reply. My daughter enjoyed the classes themselves and was excited to continue, but the lack of transparency, poor follow-through, and dismissive attitude from the front desk staff made me uncomfortable moving forward. Parents deserve to feel confident and informed, especially when leaving young children in someone else's care. Disappointed overall.

Mr. Thomas is extremely flexible with each child's learning style and personality. He truly meets them where they are and makes lessons both engaging and fun. One of the things we appreciate most is how he incorporates music and songs that the kids actually enjoy into their learning. It keeps them motivated and excited to practice. A highlight for our family was when our eldest performed Die With a Smile by Bruno Mars at his school performance. He played the drums while the crowd sang along...it was such a proud moment! What made it even more special was that Mr. Thomas came to watch him perform, showing his dedication not just during lesson time but outside of working hours as well. That level of support means so much. We absolutely adore his commitment to our children. He's not just teaching them music- he's giving them a gift that will last a lifetime and filling our home with love, joy, and fun. We are beyond grateful to have him as their teacher and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a passionate and dedicated music instructor!
