Unfortunately, my husband and I were the couple with the short end of the stick and we did not get his services even though I had booked him 5 months before our wedding date (9/3). On the upside, Ryan found another photobooth (Dashoots) to come to our wedding in his place, so yes we got the same service at our wedding, just with a different photobooth company. I had a very hard time communicating with Ryan... I tried phone calls, texts, and email, and none seemed to work for a timely response. I think that it was for the best that this photobooth company cancelled for our wedding but it was a lot of unwanted stress a week before our wedding.

She shared the history of the Riedel glassware company and explained how the shape of each of the four glasses changes the aroma and flavor of the same wine. It was fascinating to experience the difference firsthand. Ashley was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly patient with our group, even when we got a little chatty and wandered off topic. She made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The charcuterie board was more than enough for the two of us, and every wine we sampled, from the bubbles to the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and final bottle of Cabernet, was an excellent selection. This was something completely different from a typical wine tasting, and we really enjoyed it. I already have several friends in mind who I think would love this experience. I hope Willamette Valley Vineyards considers making the Riedel Glassware Experience a regular offering!

Bad news. Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.

The staff was very friendly, attentive, polite, and professional. The basic ambiance is clean but worn and feels like it is from a different decade. It also seemed a bit scattered, with tables and chairs not quite in alignment. On the positive side, the washroom was spotlessly clean. Chips and tasty salsa were quickly brought to the table. Soon after, our server came over to take our order. He was excellent. The food was prepared and delivered to the table quickly. I had the Asado Burrito. It was very filling and well prepared, although a little on the bland side. My friend noted that the shredded beef in his enchiladas and tacos was a bit tough. At $33 for lunch for two, plus tip, I thought the price was quite good considering the rapidly increasing cost of eating out in Bend. They have tons of hilarious props & the coolest technology, making the booth super easy to operate & tons of fun.  We not only had the option of printing, but they offer texting & emailing our photos to ourselves, which means they were up on our social media in minutes.  This is not the ordinary cheesy boxed in Photo Booth.  Their operation was an open-air booth with a trunk-load of props, a lit up background & touch screen camera stand! Leading up to the wedding he was so chill, answered all of our questions, was so patient, worked with the venue to figure out the set up in advance, collaborated so well with our sax player, and during our actual wedding he made pivots whenever we asked him to. Even late night after our photographer left he captured some INCREDIBLE candid photos without us even knowing because he knew that there wouldn't be professional ones taken!! He went above and beyond. We actually found out about Apogee because we went to a family friend's wedding and they were the DJs which is how we found out about them. Their online planning tool is simply AMAZING and I could tell this wasn't their first rodeo. Allen provided some of the best customer service I have ever received in answering some questions and providing support regarding a unique situation with our wedding, and I knew it go off without a hitch. I had the pleasure of speaking with our DJ, Greyson, the day before our wedding and I could already tell that he was an awesome fit for our group. Greyson kept us on schedule, worked fabulously with our guests, took care of some last minute changes AND taught us a few moves on the dance floor. The best part? He didn't lose any steam when 2/3 of our guests left well before the end of the reception. He kept the party going up until the minute we closed things down.
