From start to finish, everyone was extremely helpful and nice to us as I escorted my Uncle to every area of the hospital. The Care Quality and customer service was excellent and we did not have any issues today. I would definitely recommend this location for your medical needs. It was definitely the professionalism and service for me.

Don't go to this ER. The hospital, clinics, surgery, who knows, might be great. Don't go to this…read moreER. Don't. Firstly, the very first thing a patient sees after walking through the ER doors and passing security is the registry desk. At the registry desk is a little silver sign. It reads "We Regret That We Cannot Validate Parking." I do not believe that they regret this for one moment. The parking is very very far away from the emergency room door, so if you have the temerity to drive yourself or get a private citizen to drive you to the emergency room, you may well need a gurney by the time you get there. Valet parking at the emergency room is twelve dollars. Secondly, the registry desk does not actually register you. I gave the folks at the desk my cards and whatnot, and they typed some things and then gave me a piece of paper with a phone number on it, for me to complete my own registration via telephone. I say this with sarcasm: Because someone who has lost a shitton of blood is absolutely the best person to put on the telephone to confirm delicate details, and airing such delicate details in a crowded waiting room where people are crying must be simple and safe for such a person. Of course. They won't even keep hold of the stupid little barcode stickers that they use for procedures with your name on them. You have to hold onto your sheet of stickers and not bleed on it or lose it or drop it. When I was there, the two public-facing hand sanitizer dispensers in the waiting room were empty. The only hand sanitizer dispensers that were not empty are the ones outside the triage rooms. The Piedmont Emergency Services department's triage folks have no manual blood pressure cuffs and no time to get one, so if someone cannot use an automatic, all they will do is write down that you refused the reading. This seems counterproductive for triage. I was able to see the phlebotomists after 2-3 hours. They were champions, for what it's worth, but they were not there for medical advice. After three and a half hours, I was bored, in pain, and hungry and thirsty, because food and drink are not allowed in the ER waiting room. After 6 and a half hours, my friend went to the phlebotomists to get my IV device removed so we could leave. We gave up because I had eaten one small slim-jim since 4pm and it was 2am. I'd become more and more light-headed due to low blood sugar. I'm diabetic. I was stumbling when I walked. The people I saw neglected while I was there put me in a PTSD episode for weeks. Their system of paperwork required me to sign an AMA, which I had to refuse to sign as I had received no medical advice whatsoever.

Betsy did my x-rays and she was very considerate when positioning me for the machine and participated in a friendly conversation which distracted me from my shoulder worries. Dr. Garten was great as well, explaining why I was experiencing the pains in my heel and shoulder and telling me what I could do to help avoid and alleviate the pain, including a few weeks of physical therapy. He diagnosed my shoulder as impingement and let me know that it was fixable which was a relief. For the ladies who may decide to visit Paragon, lemme warn you... Dr. Garten is a little bit of a hottie. He makes a lot of direct eye contact and his baby blues are hypnotic. It was all I could do not to giggle while he was talking to me. But I did a great job of keeping myself together, and I hope you do too. Prior to my visit, I had to cancel and reschedule because of the recent snow in Atlanta, and Paragon was quick to respond. I also had an insurance question about my visit that I handled via email, and received a quick response for that as well. If you call and get the voice mail, leave a message because they'll call you back fairly quickly or the next day. You'll have to pay for parking to visit Paragon. It's located in the Northwest Medical Offices (inside the west building with the big W on the side). The parking isn't expensive at $2 for up to 30 min and $3 for up to 60 min. The rates go up after that, but I didn't capture how high. Overall, two thumbs up!

I ended up at this place, thanks to a referral from Dr. Hoadley (who was a referral from one of my…read morerunning buddies, and a Hernia Specialist). Due to my former job with the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers, Dr. Hoadley sent me to Dr. Garten. Finding the place wasn't hard, and it's in one of the nicest housing areas of Atlanta you'll see (West Paces Ferry Rd). Parking was a breeze (you will pay $5 to park), and then his office was in the West Tower on the 2nd Floor (there is also an East Tower). Walking in, I found the office space to be very clean and seemed to be very new. Maybe it was just all the modern furniture. I was the only one there (must have been the first patient at 9AM), and got checked in right away. The front desk lady was very nice. It wasn't long before I was called back and waited. I had handed the lady my MRI cd and notes, and she had me wait while Dr. Garten reviewed it. I certainly didn't mind the 10 minute wait or so. Walking in, Dr. Garten was very friendly and I just loved his demeanor. I went over a brief history of my running, and he had me hop up on the table and lie down. It took him literally three minutes to hit the pain points. He mentioned he reviewed my MRI and went over what was ailing me, but had wanted to check the spots first. It was SUCH a relief to hear. It was more a relief to hear that my injury wouldn't require surgery, and that a steroid pack plus PT should resolve it. Even better, someone in his family had the same injury as mine, so he referred to a PT that could handle it. I'm certainly a happy customer, b/c of the service I received and also the immediate result of knowing what was wrong. I would refer Dr. Garten to anybody. Great bedside manner and accurate diagnosis.
