I called Ben for an estimate to replace our existing front steps. Ben said he would come by that evening, which he did. He was very thorough in going over what needed to be done, and he explained in detail what he felt was the best way to go about the job. His price was very reasonable and I felt comfortable with the whole process so I called him the next day and told him I would like him to do the job. Ben told me when he would start and finish. He showed up exactly as he said and started the job. He showed us different bricks to choose from, and started the job as scheduled. One thing among many that I really liked about Ben was he loved explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it. At the end of the job (ahead of schedule) I did not have my rod iron railings ready for him. No problem for Ben, as he just told me to let him know when they were in and he would come back and install them I called Ben when I had them and he came that night to install (not a quick process as he had to drill through the granite that he had installed). Ben is a perfectionist and I can not say enough about the fantastic job he did, and what a wonderful experience it was. I would recommend him without hesitation. read more

Ben did a third project for us this week. First, when I call Ben, he picks up the phone and is usually onsite within a day or two. His response times are amazing. Next up, we have to discuss price. I've done only a handful of projects, so this is hard for me to judge. But, when I see the work and look at the amount of hours he puts in and the quality of the work, it seems extremely fair and I'm guess extremely competitive. If you think a price is too high, discuss it with him. He and you can work something out...or not. I've worked with him three times and will do so again. That leaves quality as next factor. No one is better. He built a patio from huge pavers that have not moved, shifted, cracked, or drained poorly. We get numerous positive comments. Ben is a polite, clean, professional man that gets to it. I do not believe you will find anyone around who is as fast, affordable, and adept. His sons are great too. read more

Ben is awesome! We had old brick stairs on our house from the 1950s and they were wobbly and needed to be ripped out. There were seven stairs, 9 feet wide each, so it was a pretty big project. He came to our house to give us a quote within (I kid you not) an hour and a half of me initially calling him. He got the job started the next day and finished the entire demolition and reconstruction within 4 days. He did stone facing that matches our stone foundation really well, and recommended granite stairs, which are *stunning*, and for which he charged the same as if he had done bluestone or another material. He was super professional, on time (and early many days), and repaired a bunch of extra cracks on the foundation. At the end, he pressure washed the area around the stairs at no extra charge to make the new stone really pop. It looks like our house got a facelift. read more

Ben and his son just completed masonry work on our house this week. They worked on pointing the chimney (inside and outside), adding a cap to it, pointing the foundations around the house and filling holes in the basement. We had a great experience working with Ben the Mason. Everything was quick and efficient, things flowed smoothly from the first contact, to the visit, to the quote on the spot, to getting the job started and finished on time. Even more importantly the job was well done and we're very happy that Ben did what was needed for the chimney flashing even if it wasn't really quoted since the situation was worse than assumed. Prices are fair and Ben will not push for unnecessary work. We highly recommend Ben the Mason. read more

He recently fixed our floor in an old victorian we're restoring. We're having issues with water in the foundation, and one part was all rotted floor. He quickly showed where most of the main issues with water are: and we have him lined up to fix in the spring. Meanwhile, he redid the basement: ripped up 300 sqft of ancient rotting wood, prepped and pour a new floor within a week. Did a few extras free of charge, including a base of our stairs that we didn't ask, but it bothered him! All the work is really high quality: he explained everything he needed to do to make it work correctly. Expect to have him back for other work: first in the spring to fix the outdoor foundation. Highly recommend! read more

I couldn't be more impressed with Ben the Mason! He was able to book my job and complete it within 24 hours to ensure safety, which was incredibly reassuring and appreciated. Not only did he act quickly, but the work he delivered was top-quality -- the craftsmanship and materials he used were absolutely beautiful. From start to finish, Ben was a pleasure to deal with: honest, professional, and incredibly hardworking. He also made sure the job site was spotless when he finished, which speaks to his care and attention to detail. It's rare to find someone who combines efficiency, skill, and integrity so well. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for top-notch masonry work. read more

3/09/22 - Ben (and his son) did an excellent job of doing some significant repairs to my fieldstone foundation. He repainted it, and put in interior waterproofing. He also put in new basement windows. He was prompt, knowledgeable, and excellent to work with. He is also absolutely trustworthy. He quoted me a price for the windows; and after purchasing materials told me that he had gotten a good deal, and charged me significantly less for the work. He could have easily pocketed an extra $400 and I would've had no idea. He walked me through each step of the work as he went, and made sure I was comfortable with what he was doing. I give him my highest recommendation. read more

Ben did a great job repairing our garage's crumbling bricks and mortar, and his price was very competitive. He responded quickly after we called him and came early the next day to give us an estimate. He was courteous, honest, thorough, and clearly knew his stuff. We had to go out of town a few days after that, and so he made a special effort to get our job done before we left. In fact, he completed our fairly extensive repairs amazingly fast--it seemed like he was doing the work of two guys all by himself. He even found and fixed a problem that wasn't apparent at the start of the project, but didn't charge us extra. We'd give him six stars if we could. read more

We called Ben because the mason we had scheduled wanted to delay our project for nearly a month without warning. Ben understood our urgency and was on time for the estimate, began work the next day, and worked his butt off until completion. I even ran into an issue where I did not like the pavers I had selected from a photo. He offered me to join him and go select the pavers myself in person, which I did. The final result was professional and beautifully done. Ben was a total pleasure to do business with, especially considering how many negative experiences I've had with home contractors in the past. I recommend Ben wholeheartedly for any masonry job. read more

I contacted Ben to discuss a concern I had relating to a cracked step in my pre-cast stair set. He answered my call immediately and offered to come by and discuss the project. He offered several options with different cost points but recommended the least expensive as it would accomplish the same result as the others. After agreeing to the price he started the job and completed it within an hour. He showed great skill and knowledge in his trade. He also noticed a loose stone cap on my retaining wall and repaired it at no cost. I could not be more satisfied with how he approached and completed this repair. I highly recommend Ben. read more

Honest...Reliable...Artist... It's a shame I can only give 5 stars! Ben quoted a fair price, explained the work he would do, and then delivered above and beyond. A crumbling retaining wall in a tight space, required complete excavation of the soil, and replacement with concrete fill, and a detailed finish. Ben exceeded expectation, and provided additional complimentary work in order to blend the new repair, seamlessly into the existing structure. His added, no cost, supplementary work displayed a willingness to put customer service above added profit, and indicated a degree of integrity, and pride in ones work, rarely seen today. read more

Ben is a life saver and a genuinely nice and talented craftsperson. Ben was very responsive to our urgent need for a mason, empathizing with our situation and our need to have our chimney repaired asap. This is a busy season, so he had to squeeze us in between his other regular clients. He was great at communicating his schedule and kept us up-to-date at each stage. He quoted a fair price and that's where it stayed, despite finding an underlying problem that didn't show up immediately. I highly recommend Ben to anyone needing masonry work and am so very grateful to receiving this referral online from fellow NextDoor member. read more

Ben the Mason completely restored the foundation of my house inside and out along with his two sons. Ben and his crew also replaced all the basement windows and emptied my basement of Items I no longer wanted and disposed of them along with some paneling and ceiling tiles I wanted removed. Ben and his two sons stayed on the job from start to finish working tirelessly and efficiently and courteously. They cleaned up every day. They do excellent work. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I whole heartedly recommend Ben the Mason. He is a kind and proud family man with excellent masonry skills. read more

Our old brick front steps were crumbling after serving our house since 1958. We called Ben after reading all the positive reviews from others. He came right out and examined the problem. There was no way to fix the old steps and we discussed new ones and what to use, etc. He gave us a quote which seemed reasonable so we gave him the "go ahead." He was back that very afternoon to begin demolishing the old steps. He came every day after that and finished the job in a week. The new steps are brick with granite slabs on top. they look great. They will outlive us! We recommend him very highly. read more

I was very pleased with Ben. He got right back to me for an estimate. After we agreed on things he was here the next day to start the 4 projects I needed done. He is quick, efficient and clean. When he did the projects he went beyond what was to be done. I liked the fact that he discussed with me on what to do if there were a couple of choices on how to do the projects. I am very fussy and Ben did the job right to my satisfaction. I highly recommend Ben The Mason. I would give him 10 stars if there were more stars. I live in Peabody, MA. Yelp incorrectly said I live in CA. read more

I had to have multiple things done due to cracking and crumbling foundation inside and outside, by cellar was having crumbling areas as well. Plus my stairs were cracked and unsafe. Ben and his sons were amazing and created a safe environment for me to live in. Thank you and I will continue to use them if or when needed, they were polite with smiles and great conversation and worked with me every step of the way. I will continue to use them if or when I ever need them again. Very reasonably priced. The price was a little different than what was quoted. read more

I 100% recommend Ben The Mason! After a thorough internet search I called 5 masons for an outside repair around my foundation and steps, Ben was the only one to answer. He was able to come out the next day, arriving on time, assessing the repair and completing it in two hours at a very fair price. He's honest, hard working, efficient, personable and takes great pride in his work. He even took the time to re-position the down spouts to further prevent water from entering the house. I will definitely call him again for any future work at my house. read more

I reached out on Ben's website Thursday morning at 8am. My phone was ringing at 9am with him greeting me at noon all the same day to look at the job and quote. Ben came out that Saturday early morning with his son to resurface my concrete pool deck edge. He is very responsive when I couldn't get anyone to call me back. He knows what he is doing and takes pride in his work. He was a true gentleman. The final results were fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate recommending to others. I will definitely hire again for any future projects. read more

Ben is a Godsend! We had a few other contractors fall through on us this autumn (one never followed through after initial discussion, and the other one quoted us an astronomical price!), and we tried Ben - SO happy we did! He showed up with a fair price and lots of info and experience, and got it done for us within days! The job looks fantastic, he cleaned up after himself and even put our fence back together when he was through. Friendly, hard working and fair. We already have a list for the spring to discuss with him! read more
