Bemo's bar is one place I strongly encourage everyone to AVOID. The older, male, white bartender grabbed a customer's chest without permission when the customer ordered a shot, and laughed when I told him that he should not grab first-time customers, or frankly, anyone, without permission. Bemos is an Excellent friendly place to have a drink or a few and explore the local music scene! Clean and interesting artwork and nostalgic idems to look at on their walls. BEMOS feature's a local MI act on their Awesome stage most every night of the week with the sometimes possible exception of open mic night lol. Bemo's - Just before the band starts to play - Bars Near Me - Bay City, Michigan

Showed up for open mic night. As soon as I started playing, two people jumped up on stage and wouldn't leave even after I asked them to leave. I complained about this, I was told "you just don't get Bemo's yet." So later in the night, I jumped up on stage and started singing scat in A Minor along with these guys (A Minor is a super easy key but it was a weird chord progression, actually it went to a different key at the end of the progression slightly, but I recognized it and so was able to scat along with it since I took the time to listen to a few bars before jumping in). The bartender Lou came up almost immediately and asked me to get off stage. At this point, I actually felt guilty, and tried to go up to her to apologize. She wouldn't let me speak. She ends up raising her voice to talk over me to tell me that I'm not respecting her in her house and I need to listen to her more. It took about five minutes before I was finally able to get out an "I'm sorry." At this point I am fucking PISSED of course! They just keep telling me "you just don't get Bemo's dude" apparently I don't because it's really hard to figure your why the one was okay but the other wasn't. I was willing to try tho, and that's all I wanted to say with my apology. I tried to calm down enough to drive but couldn't, I told the bartender it would help me calm down if she just apologized, she again insisted that she didn't need to let me apologize to her in her house if she didn't want to. I don't even remember what I said at this point, maybe I deserved it who knows, but that's when her partner the other bartender escorted me out saying he was going to call the cops. All because I wanted to apologize but couldn't then couldn't calm down afterward. There are a lot of good Christian people singing songs here but trust me, the owners are not good, forgiving, patient people, who admit that they can make mistakes. This is THEIR house and that's the end of the story. They may respond to this post saying that they couldn't even listen to my.reasonable words, because of my tone of voice. I am bipolar and hard of hearing and this was my first time our after recovering from cancer. I didn't know I was being loud at first but I'm 99% sure that Lou raised her voice to me first. But again, this is HER house and if she wants to raise her voice but not let me raise mine, she can. They told me I "just didn't get Bemo's." Trust me, I'm a reasonable intelligent person, if I didn't "get" Bemo's then you won't either. Don't show up. One star. read more

This bar is a little divey and it's not in my favorite neighborhood of Bay City, but this is a good place to see bands. There's plenty of seating, bartenders are good and the crowd is friendly. Possibly the most exceptional aspect of Bemo's is that they have the cleanest bathrooms of any local bars, by far. It's actually clean and looks like a normal bathroom, not like a disgusting abandoned truck stop. No food, and certainly far from high class, but when in need of seeing a band and cheap drinks, this is the place to be in the Bay. They feature a variety of music, from karaoke to metal and everything in between. It just depends on the night. As well, it is a great place to do you without worry of looking like a crazy person, cause there are plenty abound also just doing what comes natural. I love Bemo's! I go for their live music and awesome drinks. Friendly bartenders, friendly bar goers, I always have fun when I go out there. Plenty of seating and parking, nice patio out back. They have a kind of classic rock vibe going, acoustic open mic, electric open mic, blues artists, rock artists and more. Bemo's is a cool place to support local music. read more

Very cool place. Went to see a friend's band play but was very pleasantly surprised with this place. Great show, nice amount of room. Seems like a locals bar (I'm from a neighboring town) but very friendly service and excellent drink prices. I will definitely be back. This place seems to have a rich history too. Many examples of past bands that have played here for years. Many signed music equipment and pictures dating back for many years. Bathrooms very clean which is a plus! read more

Clean and comfortable place to enjoy live music, any night of the week. The full bar lines one side and the rest of the place is devoted to the music. Plenty of parking. A Must see is the artistry of guitarist Jake Voisine and the smoking original voice of Shar Molina. Also known as THE BANANA CONVENTION (TBC) when the rest of the band plays together. No cover charge no fighting is only just the beginning of reasons to go here. Also if they keep the price of 2.00$ draft beer this bar can't be beat anywhere in MI. Get there early if you like to dance and be up close. Another band that's a must see is BIG BROTHER SMOKES. I only seen them once and at first I couldn't hear the singer over the band. After one of their songs finished I remarked to the singer that I couldn't hear his voice clearly. They immediately made some adjustments and WOW they ROCK THE HOUSE DOWN BABY. Now where else can you get respect like that. Most bands don't give a damn what you think and then you find yourself riding around to find the next bar with a descent juke box. Great job BEMO'S keep the people happy and we'll be sure to return regularly... I'm giving them a five star rating because of the 16oz 2.00$ cold draft beer that you get, and the fast and respectful service that comes with it. Not to mention the great bands that Bemo"s finds.
