I moved back to Lincoln in July 2021 and have only taken my border heeler to this vet. They've been friendly, patient, flexible, and have taken their time with Delilah. She's a rescue with a lot of anxiety, gets onto my lap to hide from the vet, but they're super patient with her. We have had no problems with this vet. I have only positive things to say. vet tech SLAPPED my puppy - At 11 weeks old this was only his second visit to this vet. My boyfriend took him the first time and said the experience was decent, though he did mention the exam room was dirty, there were nail clippings on the floor that our puppy was able to pick up and try to eat. Not ideal, but we let it go. What really bothered me happened during our second visit, which I was there for. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff didn't give off the warmest impression. One woman barely greeted us and simply said "name?" when we walked in, and the other never smiled or acknowledged us beyond reading the form and what we needed to do. It just felt unwelcoming. The exam room this time seemed fine, Things were good until they began checking our puppy's ears. He started to squirm a bit and nibbled at the vet tech's hands, completely normal behavior for a young puppy who's nervous and being handled. Puppy's can be difficult but instead of redirecting him or calming him, the vet tech SLAPPED him on the face. I was honestly shocked. The veterinarian was right there and didn't say anything or correct her, which made me even more uncomfortable. It felt unprofessional and unacceptable, especially for a place that works with animals all day. The other concern was that when we originally called, we were told there was a plan that would cover our puppy's vaccinations and basic needs. But at this appointment we were told the plan is actually better suited for older dogs, which made us feel a bit misled. Overall, I didn't necessarily hate the clinic, but I didn't leave with a good feeling. We expected patience and gentle handling for a young puppy, and instead we left unsure if we can trust this vet team moving forward. We will likely be looking for a new vet who treats our pet with the care and respect he deserves. read more

Terrible customer service and front desk staff, very rude and unprofessional on multiple occasions.

Last year I took my cat here to get his standard checkup and vaccinations, after he got home he was acting lethargic and sore which I brushed off as normal, after he didn't go back to his normal energetic self I called the vet and they discarded my concern. After going back and forth I got a recheck where they had no solutions except for an x ray where they proceeded to tell me everything looked normal but they could prescribe gabapentin to make him comfortable. He was still unable to jump or really walk- I took him to an orthopedic specialist in Omaha that took less than 5 minutes to evaluate my cat and say both of his hips were fractured and he needed FHO surgery. Belmont spent an entire month telling me nothing was wrong and dismissing me every time I had a concern. Fast forward to today, my roommates kitten has stopped eating and is throwing up every time he eats and their only solution is to load him on medications and now he is unresponsive, unable to and they're having to rush him to the emergency vet. They are neglectful, dismissive, and only looking for a check. Avoid. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

We have taken our dogs here for veterinary services as well as boarding. Last year we dropped off older German Sheppard and 6 month old puppy German Sheppard for boarding while on vacation. About 4 hour into our trip we got a call from the vet. The puppy was going through separation anxiety howling and jumping around in her kennel. They said she was very aggressive and concerned for their own personal safety. they threatened me that if she bit them, it would be reported to the county prosecutor. i told them to give her meds to help calm her down. the next morning, they informed us we needed to come pick her up. We view our dogs as our children. We do not promote vicious or threatening behavior. Besides i find it hard to believe they are unable to get a handle on a 6-month-old pup to the point threatening reporting her as a vicious animal. Fast forward to this year today. Me and my wife flying out for vacation Saturday and she made reservations for the OLD German Sheppard to get boarded for 5 days. The pup is going to my sons since the last experience. My wife did a check up call to make sure thing were in order for the drop off Friday. The receptionist says oh we will not except him here since the last time he was here. He was very aggressive, and staff felt threatened. My wife said there must be a mistake and are referring to the puppy. they assured her it was no mistake. why were we not informed when we made the appointment weeks prior and when were we going to get notified??? When we should of been in route it the Airport????? read more

The veterinarian services and front desk are superb. The grooming and vet management is awful. My dog was cut so badly after his grooming here that I had to return him to be on antibiotics because the cuts were infected behind his legs. Twice he was sent home from daycare the week after grooming because his pads were too sore from being shaved too low. He would roll over and lick area for hours for a week after the grooming in discomfort. I have asked twice to be reimbursed for the grooming and they were only willing to give me 50%, even though I've had to go back to the vet twice to have him cared for from the grooming. To avoid making this right, they just sent me an email to remove me altogether from services from their clinic. read more

Unfortunately, Belmont Vet Clinic became more about making money than the care of animals. My poor dog had two botched dental procedures there. They push dental procedures to the point where you are made to feel guilty if you don't get one. Unfortunately, my dog has had two huge fistula for years from their botched dental procedures. These are negatively effecting her health, many years later. Belmont convinced me they could clean her teeth without causing the fistulas. That was a lie, and they wouldn't offer to fix the fistulas because they don't know how without making them worse. There was no apology, they basically said, if you don't like her care here, go away. It was also huge financial burden, they wouldn't offer you a credit even if they killed your pet, I don't think. Avoid this clinic. I've been going to Vondra Vet Clinic for years, now. Vondra has never pushed me into decisions I didn't think were good, or tried to guilt me in any way, just to make money. Their prices at Vondra Vet are also much more reasonable than Belmont Vet's greedy pricing. read more

I had to have my dog put down. We were on a road trip, and he could go no further. The level of care, empathy and professionalism were outstanding. They managed to get us in immediately and helped to end his suffering. They packed up his remains in a bio bag and let me take him home to bury him in my yard. read more

Belmont vet did nothing for our dog when he was in distress. He was mostly very healthy for his age and we brought him in and they took him overnight, they never gave us any answers and sent him back like he was okay the next day without meds or any instructions. A couple of days went by and he was gone. I will never take another pet here again. read more

I'm so glad we found Dr. MacFarland and the Belmont Vet clinic after my pup and I moved here. Their prices are a lot more competitive than other vets in the area. Specifically, the Dental Wellness package is a life-saver. Today, I brought Gracie in for two issues but I kept coming up with more questions and Dr. MacFarland was very patient and helpful. He never once tried to upsell me and was very pragmatic. Thumbs up! read more

(I understand this is hard for anyone however this is my experience.) To: Whoever reads this Hello. My name is Kaitlynn and recently my dog, Shaggy, had to be put down at Belmont Veterinary Center. We have not been there before, however, we had no choice but to take him as he was having some serious health concerns. Taking him there wasn't a problem. It was the vet itself. We arrived at our appointment, waited a bit, and then went into a room and the vet started evaluating Shaggy. The evaluation was fine as well. However, we, unfortunately, learned he had some bad Arthritis and then learned he had Cancer. And it was very apparent that he needed to be put down because he was at his "end of life" stage. This was not the problem. It was very hard, but the problem starts as we were ready to say our goodbyes. The vet seemed to be very pushy and was very non-sympathetic. At the time we didn't have the money to cremate him so the options (from the veterinarian herself) were to leave him on the table and he would be put in a group cremation with other dogs and his ashes would be spread in their "garden". We could pay for a group cremation and would get some of his ashes and other dogs. OR we could pay for a cremation. Well, we did not have the money at the moment. So we asked if we could just take him home, and from the VETERINARIAN HERSELF she said, "No, that is not an option". So, unfortunately, we had to leave him there on the table. We decided at the time, that since we didn't have the money to pay for a cremation, we'd have him be put in a group cremation and he would go in their "garden". After a couple of days, we went to go pick up his paw print molds that were made. So, I asked my mother (who was with me at the time) if we should see their "garden". I figured it would help my grieving. Unfortunately, their "garden" is approximately a 30x10 foot fenced-in patio with an 8x6 foot patch of grass on it. AND one of the vets/vet techs was smoking on it. It is a glorified smoking area for their employees! It was at this moment, my heart ached. "My poor baby", I cried out. I felt like it was a sick joke. How is this ok? I feel that the Belmont Veterinary Center is out for money & only money. My mother then went into the Belmont Veterinary Center and asked if we were able to take him home and the woman at the desk said, "Yes". What? Then why when we asked the veterinarian herself did she say, "No"? Was my dog just a cash grab for them? Fortunately, we had some resources in our family and they happily paid to have Shaggy cremated. BUT, to whoever is reading this PLEASE don't go there. Don't do this to yourself. My story doesn't end here. We went there to pick up his ashes. The woman at the desk verified my name TWICE. They put me in a room with my boyfriend and we were very confused. My boyfriend said, "Well, maybe they want to apologize?". This is not what they wanted to do. A male veterinarian came in with a laptop and x-rays. He said, "Can I verify your name?". I verify my name and then his face is confused. I was put in a room for another dog named Shaggy who had just had surgery. I do feel bad for him as he didn't know. But admittingly, it hurts. He did apologize profusely, and HIS was very genuine. After this, we wait a couple of minutes and the lady from the desk comes in with Shaggy's ashes. They were in a bag. A velvet bag. "Where's his box?", my Boyfriend asked. "Well, usually we ask.", said the woman. What? So Shaggy is the exception? My Aunt paid $192.51 for this. Here's the kicker. We get home and I wanted to look at his ashes. They were in a ZIPLOCK SANDWICH-BAG. It says ZIPLOCK right on it. Thankfully they wrote Shaggy's name on it. Gee, at least they dared to do that. What kind of vet is this? Every person I've spoken to has said the same thing. "What the hell is wrong with that place?". Please. Do NOT take your animals here. Don't do that to yourself or your pet. They have made my grieving process so much harder. I lost my dog, my baby, and my best friend of 12 years. My therapy animal. He deserved better than to be put in a sandwich bag. I've been taking my elderly cat here for about 5 years now. They always get me in quickly and the vets and vet technicians are kind and give my cat great care. I'm a poor grad student and my vet has been very accommodating - she often will consult with me by phone unless it's absolutely necessary to bring my cat into the office. I'm very happy with Belmont. Compared to what I've heard of other veterinary offices in the area, Belmont is by far the best. I have heard horror stories from almost everywhere thanks to all my friends with pets; I have never heard one from Belmont. + Belmont is where I have always taken my patched tabby cat. It is even where she was taken after she was attacked by two Saint Bernard's and she survived with only a few scars. The nurses and vets have all been good, if not great. ~ I don't think I've ever gotten the same vets or nurses. I sometimes don't go for a year, but it still seems worrisome if they have such a huge turnover. Definitely no bonding going on. - The wait times can be bad. When my old only-pet cat has to be crammed in a too small box for thirty minutes in a room of backing dogs (that she is obviously scared of since she was almost killed), it's a little much. read more

Absolutely abysmal. I took my cat here for a small gland issue that's really common in cats. After a 20 minute wait at the first visit she was finally seen and treated. I had to schedule a follow up for two weeks after. Today I came in 15 minutes early. We were not seen on time. We were not seen for a HALF HOUR after the actual appointment time. At that point my cat had been in a carrier for over an hour. 4 other animals came in after us and LEFT BEFORE we were even seen. The receptionist said "he is just finishing up" we waited ten minutes after that and once it was 35 minutes past our appointment time, we left. I wasn't going to keep my cat in a carrier any longer. Pathetic service. Now we are home, having not even seen a doctor for what would have been a 5min or less appointment, and my cat still gets the stress of spending an hour in a carrier. Do not put your animals through this. Horrible business. Would never recommend. Side note: the first time I visited with my cat (when we were actually seen by a doctor) there was blood in the floor from whatever pet was in the room prior... gross and unsanitary. read more

Watched 5 different cars pull in and techs come out and get their dogs All the while, Wyatt's shaking, gagging and throwing up because he hates to be in the car and a the traffic noise. I called at 8:50 to tell them that the can cancel. Marissa was very rude, never apologized. She basically said good luck getting into any vet right now. If you say a tech is coming right out to get him, then someone should come right out and get him. If there's a delay, then you tell the guest that it'll be over 30 mins. Our vets office closed a few months ago, so we were looking for a new one. I had a great experience here with my beagle 21 years ago, so I figured we should give them a shot. While we were sitting in the waiting room waiting to see the overly busy vet, there were 2 customers at the counter with billing disputes and one kennel customer who was told by a seemingly upset employee "your dog is sure a hand-full". The whole experience seemed cold, impersonal and rushed. The vet seemed very nice, but a little uncompassionate and seemed as if she was simply going through the motions. As soon as I started looking up a drug the vet was suggesting on my phone, I felt like I was being rushed out of the exam room. When I called after our appointment because I had a question that I couldn't get in before we were rushed out of the exam room to the register, I was laughed at by the receptionist when I expressed a very valid concern. My wife has requests the office manager call her, but I doubt we will hear a word. Nobody working at the time we were there seemed happy to be there. Our dog is usually happy to meet anyone who comes his way, but he was unusually timid and uneasy from the time we walked in til the time we walked out the door. Things have really changed since the last time I was at this facility to have my other dog neutered around 21 years ago. read more

Belmont Vet has been our family Vet since I was a kid, and my parents were taking our pets there. Now that I have my own dog, Belmont was the natural choice for me when looking for a Vet. It's been just over a year now since I started taking my dog in for his various shots and check-ups, and so far I have been impressed with their professional service and friendliness both towards me, and my dog. From different pet owners I've talked to in Lincoln, it sounds as though Belmont is probably in the mid, to slightly upper range in their service costs. (Especially compared to people who bring their pets to the small town Vets.) Personally, I'd rather pay a little more as long as my pet is treated well, and the service is great. My advice for somebody looking for a new Vet is not to worry about taking your pet to Belmont. read more

I have been taking my three cats to the Belmont Vet Center for the past three years and they have given mycats outstanding and compassionate care. The young ladies at the reception are very enthusiastic and helpful and the vets have all been very professional with their advice and consideration. We have had nothing but good experiences. They are prompt and accurate when you call to ask for advice. The reminder cards that come in the mail for the innoculations have been so helpful. And best of all, my three cats are so healthy and happy, due in part to the excellent service this clinic provides. If you are looking for a family atmosphere at a vet clinic and you are expecting the best care for your animals, this is the place to come. I will be moving away in the next month or so, and I hope I can find a place as good as this! read more

We have two cats and two dogs, so we're in and out of Belmont regularly. The staff is friendly and the vets are great, as is the customer service. Two things that set Belmont apart for us are hours and price. They're open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, and on Saturdays as well. Since both my husband and I work all day, the extended and weekend hours mean we can take the animals in without having to take off work. We're also usually able to get in for minor things within a day -- sometimes even the same day. Price-wise, I believe they're one of the most reasonable places in town, and with four pets, that's an important consideration. read more

We've taken 2 of our puppies here, with our first we had a great experience. They helped a lot. But with our second puppy, they mistreated her.. they were extremely rough with her, tugging and how they were hold her down. After her first set of shots, I stayed in the room while my boyfriend took her out to front to collect a stool sample and I could hear them through the door talking bad about us and our puppy. I was very impressed with the service I received at this clinic for my 7 year old cat. She had scratched her eye pretty well over night, and Belmont was able to get her in to look at within 2 hours of calling. We figured out the problem and got a care system down faster than I expected. 5 days later, we had her back in to see how her eyes was doing, and it was healing very nicely. Overall, I'm very happy with the friendly and knowledgeable staff along with the reasonable pricing on their services. read more

I have been taking my pets here for twenty years. We have always had great service and our pets have been well taken care of.

Bad business practices - won't be returning. My dog was scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning to remove a potentially dangerous lump on his back/spine. I took him in for 2 appointments in the past 2.5 weeks for this reason, before deciding on and scheduling surgery. Today, Belmont is stating that their insurance policy requires a history of vet administered vaccines specifically to perform surgery. This was not mentioned at either prior appointment, and he is 100% UTD on vaccines (I do administer all vaccines besides rabies myself - as I used to work at a vet hospital). I've never heard of such a policy, nor have others I know that are current techs. I've also had surgeries performed on pets in the past and never had it be an issue. Belmont claims it was their mistake for not informing me, and a "missed training opportunity." They offered to re-administer his existing UTD vax the day of surgery. I declined, as both surgery and vax take a toll on the immune system and there's no logical reason to take that additional risk if it's not an emergency. In addition, they added $100 for vax and a "recheck" fee to my surgery quote. I informed them I would not be paying $100 for vaccines he already has (that cost approx. $7), and for this "recheck" when he has already been seen twice in the last 30 days. I thought it over and called them back and suggested that if they were truly concerned about their liability and have already admitted to making a mistake, then I thought a very fair solution would be to allow them to administer the vax in question and I would cover their cost (but not pay for administration or the added profit to the cost of vaccines themselves). This would cover them from a legal standpoint, they would not be losing any money, and surgery could be rescheduled so the vax have time to go through their process. The Problem would have been solved, and my pet would have been treated in a safe way that everyone could be comfortable with. Their response? "No way." They offered $20 off of the extra $100 for services that my dog DOES NOT NEED.... AFTER they admitted to messing up on their end. How they approached the situation was extremely unprofessional, and I'm not going to be pressured into spending more money for their error. It's a shame because I really liked the Dr, but I'll be taking my animals elsewhere. read more

We took our happy, healthy Goldendoodle in on a Thursday to have a sebaceous cyst removed from her tail- no big deal we were told. After removal, we were told to bring her back for a re-check on Saturday morning. On Saturday, we are told the tail is cold - no blood flow and if this doesn't improve by Tuesday, they will have to do a partial tail amputation! Back on Tuesday, and we pick her up Wednesday night and her beautiful full length tail is now a 3 inch stump! She is anxious, withdrawn and keeps running in circles looking for a tail that no longer exists. Would not recommend this clinic to anyone! read more
