We go to belmar for shopping and also go for the bazaars they have there. We recently went for the holiday bazaar and it was so cute. They had lots of vendors and it was fun although a bit crowded. I enjoyed coming here. The large shopping center was classically designed with its own distinctive flair and elegance. The Whole Foods market offered some delicious Berry Chantilly cupcakes and we had time to look at some unique shops. It wasn't too crazy busy on a Friday. This venue seems like a nice, mellow, yet lovely location to take a date out for a dinner, and then a movie afterwards. read more

I'm a resident here in Belmar and have watched many businesses close including restaurants, bars, clothing stores and gyms lately. I met the 'Belmar General Manager' at a function and told him that I'm worried about the high business vacancy rate. I let him know that I and others are upset that there has been no communication about it. He blew me off telling me how many national chains declared bankruptcy. I suggested he communicate to the Belmar residents what the Belmar corporate plans are. He said no way would he communicate something negative. I told him he's missing my point. I'm a customer (of Belmar businesses) and resident and need to know how they will recover. The GM walked off without even acknowledging, let alone, allaying my worries. read more

There's plenty of room for growth, tho they allow a Halloween there on season (which I don't recommend going to). The prices are reasonable, but their clothes don't come in sizes for larger people, (mostly women's clothes). Good for local day trips if you're in the neighborhood and don't mind spending a lot of time at target. The arts district and some of the gift galleries are really what make Belmar hot. They have reasonably priced food but there's more selection across the street near Lakewood Commons if you don't feel like eating up or eating sandwiches. The theatre out here has reasonable prices but doesn't allow pets. Recommend coming around the holidays or during the Italian festival. I recommend it for the neat gift shopper. read more

My wife and I have been visiting Belmar for several years now. We like the P.F. Chang's, she browses Victoria's Secret and we get her rings serviced at Zales. But the rest of the place? Meh. Target has that whole political fiasco with the bathrooms, I can't believe the so-called "Best Buy" even still exists and the hipster-focused bars seem to change their name every week. Parking is just BAD. They have a parking structure, but it isn't near any of the stuff we would want to visit. The other parking lots are often packed or reserved for specific businesses. Target gave up a big chunk of their lot to build some kind of hipster hotel. And that one parking lot which is shared by Firestone and Chick-Fil-A? That has to be the worst parking lot of all time! We also witnessed a car break-in here once. It was the car parked right next to ours while we were eating at P.F. Chang's. Security came and took our statement, which was something. But we now avoid parking here at night anymore. read more

I love Belmar. It's close to down town Denver. A mere 15 drive. Where parking is easy and mostly free. They have the comfort of things I like. A movie theater. Restaurants. A few shopping spots. The Nordstrom Rack here is awesome! They carry a lot of XS sizes! Score! What's here too? Whole Foods! And Guess Store! The most convenient part is when you live here you don't need a car to go shopping. You walk everywhere. I do. Coffee shops! My first ROTD was for the French Press and its here! 24 HR gym. Pilates studio. Town homes are popping up. Nice tri level ones with three bedrooms. Awesome layout. I run in the morning when everything is still closed. It's safe and quite. It probably won't be free parking for a long time...people are moving in. read more

The Bel mar section of Lakewood has a interesting history, Many things have come and gone, including the Bel Mar mansion that was owned by May Bonfils whose father owned the Denver Post. There was also the Villa Italia, a shopping mall from the mid 90's. Now Bel mar is a collection of shops including a Whole Foods, a very large two story Target, a large cinema and other little shops and restaurants. In the winter there is usually an ice skating rink and the place is festively decorated. Multiple free parking spots offer shoppers a care free shopping and dining experience that can be enjoyed the whole day long. read more

Belmar used to have many more stores and restaurants which seemed to make this a decent alternative to a mall. Their Christmas decorations with skis creating a tree, were fun. However, as time has gone on, many shops have closed and there are a lot of strange stores in their place. The whole shopping area used to seem much more upscale, and now there are only a few places there worth visiting. Ok if you are in the area, but definitely don't go out of your way. read more

Check in on Yelp for a free coupon booklet (redeemable at the customer service office). Came by Belmar with my husband this afternoon sometime after 1 pm. This outdoor mall (dog friendly to walk around) has shops all around to browse through, with plenty of walking opportunities. There are also multiple restaurants to choose from for your dining options. As for parking options, you can either park along the street (Metered) or in the parking structure (free). I honestly thought this place was nice, but wasn't really impressed with it. Some of the stores that are here included Target, Whole Foods, DSW, Nordstrom Rack, Sur La Table, Charming Charlie and Mile High Wine & Spirits. I wouldn't say that there is that much to see to keep you busy all day but worth looking around if you are in the area. read more

Belmar is one of the most romantic parts of Denver that anyone can ever find. Their scenery is a lot more nicer than the trashy tourist streets of downtown Denver, a city that once had its fellow charm, but corrupted from negligence of homeless people and marijuana. Or even, most comparable to the shopping centers of Cherry Creek. However Belmar is a go to place, better than the shopping experience of Northfield Stapleton. I personally felt more of a connection with Belmar than anything else. The lights of Belmar are gorgeous, romantic (I can't emphasize that enough) and witty. They have lots of streets of fine boutiques, restaurants, bars and a bowling alley. Belmar also carries an ice rink where couples and families can go and enjoy a miniature icy adventure. It makes a total hot spot for a date idea. There's Wasabi Sushi nearby, but the wait is creamy. There is also the Lucky Strikes Lanes, where you can have a grand ol' time. Belmar is amazing and a luxurious experience that you can't miss! Especially coming to Colorado, that's one spot you must see! read more

Today was another day to explore more of Denver, we decided on Belmar in Lakewood. It has a striking resemblance to Santana Row in San Jose CA, less the Ferraris, super luxury stores and stuffy atmosphere. The shopping plaza offers ample parking. It has a huge Whole Foods store, with its own parking garage that is eco friendly offering complimentary Level 2 EV charging stations. They are located at the Alaska Dr. entry on the lower level. There are many great stores and restaurants within, surrounded by luxury apartments, lofts and townhouses. To save some cash, park in one of the garages to avoid paying for street parking. There's also a gigantic Target with its own dedicated parking. The plaza is roughly 4 by 6 blocks, easy to get more than a few steps in just browsing around. Definitely a more pleasant ambience compared to the typical indoor malls. The only thing it's missing are LV and Apple stores. LOL read more

This somewhat pretentious upscale bordello of semi-upscale stores has been plopped in the blue collar middle class 'burbs of Lakewood. Fancier stores are incongruous with the otherwise decidedly downscale neighbors. Nordstrom Rack is staid and stoic, looking down its nose at the across-the-street neighbor called "Shoe Carnival" PF Chang's sports a mighty horse statue that scoffs daily at the slummy Mexican restaurant across the street. Table La Sur competes with Target. The DAF Thrift store hunkers behind a McDonalds across the street from a looming, shiny DSW. The Elephant Bar trumpets its flashy red sign. Drive a half mile and you can find a store that specializes in Sloppy Joes. Yes flashy, shiny store fronts of BelMar awkwardly lord over the nearby struggling bodegas and failing gas stations. Its an oasis of yuppie arrogance before the mid 2000 economic bubble. Here is BelMar, pompous and welcome in the sense a rotund belching big spending banker is welcome in a steak house. Bellicose and obnoxious true, but he does pay the bills. BelMar sops up tax revenue like white bread sops up brown gravy and delviers it into the bellies of the city center facilities nearby.. I love living near Belmar! My husband and I bought our house about a mile away, because we love the area and was able to get a good amount of space for the money. The further development of Belmar will only increase the value of our house, which is definitely a plus! Belmar has definitely come a long way since it first opened several years ago. There are plenty of shops, both locally owned and chains (Gap, Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret, etc.). There's free wi-fi throughout Belmar so you can hop online in any of their restaurants/coffee shop, as well as while sitting at a table in the center plaza. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Again, both run by small business owners (The Oven, Wasabi, Las Margaritas) and national chains (P.F. Changs, Baker Street Pub, Ted's). The newest restaurant, Little India, will be opening up this spring. A couple of the restaurants have failed, and some didn't even make it to opening day, which has been a downside. Hopefully they will continue to add more restaurants, giving patrons even more choices! Belmar also has an event center located above Baker Street Pub and Lucky Strike, which is a great venue for wedding receptions, and other corporate sponsored events. My husband and I attended a free Johnny Walker tasting there, and had a blast! There's definitely plenty to do to keep yourself entertained. Bowling at Lucky Strike, movies at Century Theaters, Happy Hour at most of the restaurants, ice skating in the winter, live music on the plaza in the spring, Farmer's Market May-Sept., Festival Italiano in Sept., and much, much more! One thing that is a little irritating is the parking situation. One of the lots is in really poor condition, with lots of potholes and faded lines. However, this is because eventually that will be turned into more shops/apartments. They actually did a great job planning the future of Belmar by first building the parking garages. Eventually most of the lots will be turned into more buildings and businesses....that is why they don't bother fixing them up. If you haven't been to Belmar yet, you definitely need to take a trip to Belmar and spend the afternoon there....especially on a gorgeous spring day. You'll definitely be able to find something to do, and will find something to please everybody! read more

There are some things I love about Belmar and there are some obvious gaps in their offerings. What pushes my review from a 3 Star 'middel of the road meh' to a 4 Star is that the Belmar staff are really trying to provide the best experience they can. There's always someone watering the plants or sweeping or cleaning and they're really trying to bring a feeling of a town centre to Lakewood.. which lets be honest, doesn't really have one. We love getting fresh vegetables from the Farmer's Market. Hell, we even adopted our dog at that market (went for out asparagus, came home with Jack). It seems the shopping has been skewed to a middle aged female demographic but that's to be expected. The addition of Target and Best Buy this summer/fall make it feel a little more Suburbia but I have to admit I'm wicked excited to not have to drive too far for my electronics fix. Apple store would also do very well. From a customer perspective I wish there was a bookstore, but from some friends who have looked at the area, the rent is a little higher than it probably should be, which may be the reason there's a few more open spaces and no cool little book store or a few more boutique shops willing to take a chance. All in all, I really dig the area and the atmosphere and am excited to see it mature. read more

As an master's of urban planning recipient, I actually like new urbanist communities, so I definitely appreciated living in Belmar for 2 years. Though the community had a lot to offer, there were definitely some not-so-sunny things about it too. When I first moved there (September 2009) my rent at 7166 at Belmar was affordable. As the community added Target, Nordstrom Rack, Best Buy, and a few new restaurants, as well as the KB Homes Patio Homes being built next door, rent began increasing... I decided to cancel my lease since they had increase my rate by 300%!!! So pay hundreds more to live in the same apartment with the same ammenities and no bonuses thrown in?? I don't think so!!!! I loved the walkability of the neighborhood. Used to walk my dogs through there all the time. The layout is easily navigable, and it's relatively safe, even to walk around at night. But it is very contrived and the presence of chain stores and restaurants is a turn-off. Overall, a nice place to live. read more

All the stores on the south side of the main plaza are gone. Just empty spaces for your shopping pleasure. 3. All the restaurants are chains and they all get not-so-good reviews. 4. Rockos Tacos is the 3rd (at least) restaurant in that space and its reviews are horrible. I stand by my earlier comments. The rent is too damn high. 11DEC2011 It is better than Villa Italia. It has an inviting Cinemark movie theatre, an [almost Super] Target, a Whole Foods and other stores. But, from a livability viewpoint, it is terribly disappointing. Just too damn sterile. Successful neighborhoods have a mix of space. It ranges from class A to class C (and lower). Belmar is all class A sliding downhill at the same rate to class B. With a place such a Belmar, you get the fancy (with good pizza) pizza place (The Oven), but you will never have the locally-owned hole-in-wall pizza place because "the rent is too damn high". Lots of national chains, but very few small businesses. All of these planned new urban neighborhoods suffer from the hubris of the planners that you can plan and control and make a perfect neighborhood. You can't. read more

There are some decent shops here, particularly given the surrounding areas. But it's all pretty banal. Meticulously planned out to accommodate the upper class soccer mom and yuppie demographic. That kind of thing bores me. There's a Ted's and a Baker Street Pub and an Elephant Bar, plus Wasabi sushi which by the way is TERRIBLE... bleh. While there are some quirky boutiques and even a place to get some okay coffee...overall it's not very special. There is a stupendous Whole Foods, however, which makes it worth the drive and time. Belmar is an excellent day visit. Whether you're looking for a spa day, guilty pleasures, movies, shopping, or a nice dinner, Belmar really has it all. I'm a CA native and I loooove having tons to do with out the hassle of a big city. It's a good date spot because you walk around after dinner, stop for a dessert or even hit up unique bars like World of Beer. This place has plenty of parking. I typically stick to the spot in front of target. From there, the whole area is. Your finger tips. The Core Power yoga studio is located right across the way. They feature hot yoga for those of you that are in to bikram. The other place I typically visit is the Acomoclitic Hair Removal Studio. They take care of all my beautification needs! read more

I absolutely adore Belmar. Really. Despite the pretentious we want to be Cherry Creek atmosphere and the over priced shops I will never buy anything from; I love it. Even now that they have that monstrosity of a sign on Wadsworth and Alameda with changing colors and the claim that they are now magically downtown Lakewood; I love it. Why? Well because it's small and compact. It's a neighborhood you can walk through and find just about anything you need ...and the service in the shops and restaurants is generally pretty fantastic. My favorite places in Belmar are the theater, Delaney's Deli, Little India, Whole Foods, Pacciugo's, The Press and Target...of course. My favorite events are the farmer's market and the Festival Italiano. I do think the market needs to run longer throughout the season and be larger though. I'm really bothered by the empty restaurant next to the theater that used to be Johnny Rocket's and has been empty for years now. Why hasn't it been filled? Are the rents that high? No bueno, Belmar. Also, why does Delaney's Deli have to smell like the nail salon next door all of the time?...Shouldn't there be some kind of required ventilation for that kind of business to prevent that? I've been in lots of businesses next to nail salons that didn't smell like acrylic and acetone...why is this one so oderiferous? When I'm eating I don't want to taste acetone with my food, but it's not Delaney's fault. Seriously, fix it. All in all, Belmar is one of my favorite places. I think they just have some kinks to work out if they really want to live up to the reputation they've been trying to tell everyone they have since they tookover the corner of Wadsworth and Alameda where Villa Italia used to be. read more

I love living in the Belmar neighborhood! This is one of my favorite communities in Colorado and it's the reason I purchased my home here. I love the modern architecture, the delicious restaurants (have you tried the pizza at The Oven?), the convenient shopping (the covered parking at Target lot makes my winters easier), the farmer's market, the friendly people, the art galleries, the movie theater (stadium seating for all), the various free parking lots and garages and the beautiful decorations including white Christmas lights on the trees to make for a lovely nighttime ambiance. I like this shopping center and it is decorated with many lights for the holidays however, it is winter in Colorado and this is an open air shopping experience. It can get down below freezing at night and I literally had to run between the stores because it was so cold. My California blood is spoiled. Other than my low tolerance for cold, this is a very cute mall. The main area has an ice skating ring and very festive. There are many unique boutique shops and some very good restaurants. I want to like Belmar more than I do. It's pretty! It's definitely that. But, as someone who does very little (to no) "boutique shopping", I have a hard time appreciating it. My favorite Indian place is here - Little India - and, the sushi place next door to them is pretty good, but when I go to an outdoor mall, I want to have more to do. I find myself coming here for one specific reason, then leaving, rather than walking around, enjoying myself. I appreciate the atmosphere they're going for here, though - work, play, live. Lots of apartments and condos all around the place, integrated into the shopping areas. I looked into rent here, and my head about blew off of my shoulders. No to that. The "farmer's market" here is laughably bad. Don't go expecting fresh produce and local foods. Mostly, it's handmade jewelry-type stuff and other random things that are NOT food. Maybe I'm just silly, but when I go to a farmer's market, I'm looking to buy some fresh, local produce. Has that just gone out of style? Also, I can't stand the Target at Belmar. Not even quite sure what it is about it, but my boyfriend and I always have a hard time finding what we're looking for, even if they happen to stock it (which, they usually don't). He won't even go in there, anymore. Overall, though, it has potential and I'm rooting for it. I'd love to see them put better stores in, branch out a bit. read more

Belmar is just like the in-laws house in Grand Lake, I don't get there as much as I should...but every time I visit, I love it. Especially during the holidays, when the decorations are out and the colorful lights are draped throughout the street. What sets Belmar apart from visiting the in-laws? I don't have to sit through hours of old photo albums, struggle with sub par wi-fi and it's closer to home. Yes it's kind of sterile and contrived but I've become a big fan of Belmar. The Cinemark movie theater is great and the fact that the complex includes a Banana Republic, excellent Super Target and Whole Foods makes it a regular go-to destination for us. The ice skating rink attracts families during the cold winter months - too back the multi-story buildings make the rink area even colder than necessary. It would be nice to see more independent businesses at Belmar, in stead of just chain establishments. read more

Wonderful shopping center as posted earlier the stores tend to be more female focused but it is still a wonderful place to wander around. The addition of Best Buy and Target was really great as I love visiting Best Buy. The target is a good addition with the small grocery store to compliment Whole Foods. I was expecting the Target store to be bigger but having the covered parking under the store is a nice touch. The building of Belmar is what made me buy a home in this area. I was originally looking in Highlands Ranch and I bought into Belmar while it was getting developed. Seeing it grow and change has been something and I remember the old Villa mall that used to at this location. There is something for everyone here and it is a very friendly environment. read more

What a gem for Lakewood. It sits on the old site of Villa Italia Shipping Center. It has so much to offer with cute shops, a theater, ice rink in the winter and a nice assortment of restaurants. Why would anyone shop at Belmar and pay 2.5 percent more than most other Lakewood shopping. I don't shop there. To make things worse, the sales tax is added to the PIF tax which makes it closer to 2.6%. The PIF at Belmar is 2.5% on all sales transactions, as defined in the PIF Covenant. The PIF is a fee and NOT a tax; therefore, it becomes a part of the total sales price and is subject to sales tax. At Belmar, the combined city sales tax rate of 5.6% is to be collected on the total taxable purchase price plus the state and other sales taxes. It is not fair to other shopping centers that maintain there own locations as part of their rent, while Belmar merchants rely on us shoppers to pay for their buildings and parking lots. I see in the September 12, 2010 Denver Post article by Penny Parker that the landlord Continuum will pay for placards on the property to notify customers of the PIF tax before their purchase. By the way; you don't have to use the inconvenient free parking structures, you can pay for parking on the street if you can figure out how to use the meter. read more

Today was the first time in over a year that we've been to Belmar. We asked ourselves,"Why haven't we been here before this?" We don't know. I love the "feel" of this mall. It's out doors, with so many shops, many of which I actually shop! Hmmmmm let's see: Chico's, Coldwater Creek, Bath and Body Works, Whole Foods (which is HUGE), Target, and so many more! Parking - lots and lots and lots! The majority of it is free too! Awesome! It's comfortable, and easy to walk, shop, and window shop (just in case it's not quite payday!). The mall is very well designed, and compact, yet large at the same time too. There are some nice places to eat too, or get a cup of coffee too. So, go! I think we'll be back several more times in the near future. Can't wait to see it decorated for the holidays too! read more

I was really torn between leaving a 3 and 4, but ultimately settled on 3 stars; I feel 4 is reserved for places that are just shy of perfect, and Belmar leaves yet more to be desired. I went to the concert tonight at Belmar and despite the rain it was still a fabulous night. We then went to Wasabi and had a delicious sushi dinner. A lot of these Lifestyle Centers have had so many of their tenants not reopen and it's tough right now. Lakewood is one of the biggest and best suburbs of Denver, resting only 10 minutes from downtown. It has its own downtown with free parking, a decent set of stores, restaurants, and bars and the best park in Denver. Like all 'burbs, it has some chains, but Belmar is an easy place to find/do just about everything you need without venturing to the big D, and it offers some charm that you won't find in other shopping malls around the city. read more
