I used Movers Direct for a 1 bed flat move at the end of January. My experience with them leading…read moreup to the day of the move was fantastic; great communication (even outside their normal business hours) with questions answered promptly. I had quotes from multiple companies but ultimately decided to pay the premium for Movers Direct as their reputation and service seemed excellent. Unfortunately, things started going downhill on moving day. The guys who carried out the move arrived nice and early and appeared to handle the job with efficiency and care. After they finished unloading and assembling furniture at the new house, they were suspiciously quick to leave, giving me no realistic amount of time to say something in case of a problem. They had not long been gone when I noticed a fresh gouge and scratch on the top surface of my desk. I wasted no time in contacting them about the damage and although I was unable to get through to them over the phone, I had a response via text later that evening. In subsequent emails, they asked for three things: a photo of the damage, the invoice for the desk, and a quote for repair, all of which I promptly supplied. Since it's an IKEA desk with a veneer top and the damage goes straight through the veneer, it's not possible to repair as such, so I instead quoted for a replacement top sold separately by IKEA. It has been three weeks and I've heard nothing back from them since. I think it's worth pointing out that I don't believe I could possibly have been a nicer customer to them. In spite of paying for full service, I went out of my way to prepare for the move and make it easier for them: - I packed odds and ends in my car the night before - I separated most of my belongings from the kitchen onto the worktop (leaving only two cupboards to empty) - I supplied original packaging for most of my electronics - I helped with packing by boxing up some of my speakers Prior to accepting the quote, I even contacted the office out of concern for the drivers as another quote I received from elsewhere estimated a two day move as opposed to one, and I didn't want the drivers to be getting home too late - something most people probably wouldn't care about, but I'm in the habit of "considering the human" and this was no exception. Despite all of that and reaching out to them via email, 4 phone calls, SMS, and even a message on their Facebook page, remaining polite and patient the entire time, they have chosen to completely ignore me. This has caused me a lot of undue stress and completely undone the satisfaction I had with their service. It's still ongoing and I'm hoping leaving this review in a few places will prompt them to follow up. To anyone who sees these reviews and is contemplating choosing Movers Direct, my advice is to look elsewhere. I wish I had instead gone with a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR) or The National Guild of Removers and Storers (NGRS), as they're supposed to at least be held to certain standards where consumer protection is more of a priority. If you decide to use Movers Direct anyway, my advice is to take photos or videos of your furniture the day before the move and check it over once the move is done but before the drivers leave. They make no effort to take note of your belongings or the condition they're in before/after removal (not even for insurance purposes, despite the price supposedly including coverage for up to £10k in value) so it's in your best interest to do so yourself. Whatever you choose, I hope you don't end up with an experience like mine.

we trusted this company to move store and return all of our possession's. I'm return they damaged…read moreover £7000 worth of our furniture. and in the process of trying to get there van up our Freshly done driveway they scuffed there tailgate into the drive and gouged out approximately 1 foot of resin and drive. all of our sofas were scuffed and had rips in. A white unit had been dragged along and scuffed all sides. My metal toolbox was dented in and scratched heavily. that's not the worst bit. They are blaming us for all damages and personally blaming me the son for the driveway as I should have pointed out the steepness of the drive. I can't believe the audacity of this company as they said the damage could be fixed for £20 from a local hardware store. But when we had a company quote it was non repairable as it would be near impossible to match the colour and stones. Leaving us a further £9600 out of pocket to get driveway fixed. If you wish to still us this company don't say you didn't have fair warning. I would not trust this company with anything. Reviews will be put on everything site possible.

DO NOT USE MANANDVANINUK!!! when i first booked them, the man i spoke with on the phone gave me a…read moregood quote and seemed friendly. He promised me faithfully that i wouldn't have to lift a finger when it came to moving day which was reassuring as i have long standing back issues and was recovering from pneumonia at the time. When the 2 men arrived, the more senior of the 2 came up to the 2nd floor where my flat was located.....which he huffed and puffed about and kept shaking his head (i had informed the company of this when i booked). Taking a look around he then informed me that i had too much stuff and that i would need to give him an extra £100 cash, which i shouldn't let the office know about.....this was a fee to cover the 'overloading'. I stupidly agreed as i just wanted it to be over. I then said that i would wait downstairs at my neighbours and he looked at me sternly and told me that i must help with all the boxes. He walked up those 4 flights of stairs maybe 5 times and myself and his very keen colleague did all the rest. My back was getting worse by the minute and when i asked to take a break because of my back issues, he told me absolutely not because he was in a hurry......all the while, he just stayed on the van talking on his phone. To add insult to injury, he made me unload the other end too. I was stupid for going along with it but i was a girl on my own and he was very intimidating. I was shell shocked by the end of it and he even sneared at me when i paid him and asked for more money.....as it had taken too long apparently. Like it was my fault that he didn't help or that the company had underestimated the job at hand!! I complained to the office the next day and was promised a call back which didn't come. I asked for my £100 back which i never saw and im now suffering on a daily basis with my back as that awful day really aggrivated an old injury. They are liars and crooks. Do not use them. Go with a well known company that won't rip u off.......its just not worth it!!!!!!!
