I am a college student that was looking for an apartment that I could immediately move in within a week. I made the mistake of choosing the Bellamy due to the time constraint. By the time my list of issues started to stack, it was too late, and I had no other options. That's why I'm writing this review, to prevent you from buying into the facade the Bellamy leasing agents paint.
- RENT: I first received a lease for a 4x4 with the rent of $759. This later changed to the 5x5, and I signed a new lease for the 5x5 with the past rent of $759. I didn't realize until after I signed that the price for the 5x5 was that of the 4x4 on the lease and $739 was quoted on their website. I was then told that because it was a lease takeover that was the price of the previous lease and they couldn't price match the website. This was most likely an excuse to get me to shut up and pay more rent, as I find it impossible to believe the lease the previous tenant signed from a year ago was more than the price today.
- ONBOARDING: When I came at 10am Monday morning to get my keys and was signing paperwork, I noticed they tacked on $40 on top of my base rent. The line item for this was "guaranteer waiver" because I didn't need to enlist my parents to co-sign. Despite pushing back and explaining I met the 3x income requirement, the leasing agent claimed it was mandatory without a cosigner. Did they ever care to check my paystubs to verify I met the income requirement to live here? No. Did they ever check my student ID? No. In fact I've met multiple people at the apartment complex who are not students.
- ROOM: I took the pictures attached to the review right when I walked in, shocked that I had been the victim of false advertising. The floor was dirty, I was missing a mattress in my "fully furnished" apartment, and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, it even had blood on the toilet seat. Despite this I had to start my WFH job in a few hours after receiving the keys - I didn't even have time to go back to the leasing office and get the mattress sorted, as I could barely set up my desk for work on time. I had to spend my first night as a Bellamy tenant at the Super 8.
- ROOM RESOLUTION: The next day after being well rested from my stay at the Super 8, I went to the leasing office to get a mattress for my "fully furnished" apartment. After explaining to the property manager there was no mattress, I didn't receive an apology. Instead, I was informed that normally parents buy their kids nice mattresses so the Bellamy doesn't include them anymore since staff were moving so many mattresses out of rooms. That's great! Good for those kids. My parents weren't going to buy me a mattress, however upon learning about the living conditions at the Bellamy they did pay for the room at Super 8 as they didn't want their kid sleeping on a dirty hardwood floor. The property manager was able to accommodate taking an old bed from a vacant apartment and moving into mine, as well as having the bathroom cleaned. The website has since been updated to explicitly mention no mattress will be provided, despite that being an oxymoron to being "fully furnished."
- TRASH: Immediately my first impressions of the apartment buildings were they were dirty, there was crud on the floors, walls, staircases. Lining the staircases are an array of spare cups, forks, Chick-fil-a, you name it, you could probably find it in one of the Bellamy hallways. In addition to crud and miscellaneous pieces of garbage, trash bags lining the halls are a staple of the Bellamy. In fact it's on of the advertised features, "valet trash." Despite that, not matter what day it garbage constantly lines the halls.
Currently, even with me being upstairs, clients on the phone can hear noise coming from downstairs due to the thin walls and vents above all the doors. My roommates just having a good time has lost me business because of the cheap construction of the building. If you are a prospective tenant: find somewhere else.
