Enjoy the spacious family room, sunroom, or open dining room and kitchen with family or friends. There is plenty of space for conversations, game playing, napping, or whatever you choose. The cottage is well decorated, cleaned, and maintained. All the comforts of home are available, including two window AC units for those hot days! The bedrooms and family room have ceiling fans. There is also central heat for any chilly nights. There is so much to do in the Lexington area including beautiful beaches, quaint shops, local restaurants and ice cream shops, wineries, concerts in the park, a local theater, and more. Bavarian House is becoming a home away from home for me. I feel so relaxed when I stay here. If you are locating for a place to rent that offers the comforts of home at reasonable prices, I highly recommend Bavarian House.

At the bottom of all the stairs, there is a platform with a Metal ladder to actually get to the beach. It was my feeling that the cabins are not put together very well, we won't be back. On the positive side, I called to let the innkeepers know that our TV remote wasn't working --we need batteries, and that I needed an extra blanket. I left that as a message on their phone, and they almost immediately called me back and took care of both of those problems With in just minutes.

We stayed here for a few nights this August and had a wonderful time. The view looking out over…read morethe water has plenty of room for many people and is absolutely breathtaking!! It is such a highlight. We brought bubbles and one of my favorite memories is blowing them over the edge of the railing to see if they could make it to the water. Each day we got up to view the sunrise while sipping cocoa and coffee, and and it was perfection. The water was gorgeous and you could watch the huge ships pass far out. The spacious overlook deck is such a highlight! We also enjoyed the fire pit nightly. Bring wood! I had been concerned that other guests might be using it and be loud near our cabin, but that wasn't an issue ever. The whole place was pretty chill and quiet, which was perfect. There were other guests, but they were mostly adults. We used a generously provided gas grill to cook, but it couldn't top 300*. I'd recommend bringing charcoal for the charcoal grill also available. Cabin 4 is rustic but had nice touches like an electric fireplace, ceiling fans, and a beautiful redone modern bathroom, but best of all was the French door view in the bedroom. The wicker chairs at the table had sagging seats and needed replacing, but there was a picnic table to eat at outside. The Adirondack chairs outside were the perfect place to dry our suits, etc. Honestly, I was surprised at how quiet the place was. There are stairs that go down to the waterline, and it's a beautiful view but the stairs are extraordinarily steep. I'm in my 40s and I was afraid of falling. I would not be comfortable with my parents going down those stairs unless I was right with them. That being said, we enjoyed swimming in the water down there. There's a deck with an oversized industrial ladder, which did the job but the round rings were a bit uncomfortable. My husband slipped off them! The initial bottom by the deck had sand, but past that we found it was best to paddle with the inner tubes we brought because the bottom was unpredictable. Water shoes would have helped. My 7yo had a life jacket, and since the waves can really rock you I was so glad she had it. She would have been too young to be there just an inner tube on the day we went, which was pretty rough water. The second day it was calmer and I think she would've been okay. It was fun to look at the houses on shore from out on the water, and the kids liked a fallen tree nearby. There are other good sandy beaches in the area as well. The owners were excellent communicators to answer questions. Initially the unit didn't have futon bedding and towels for the kids, but these were sent almost immediately after we made the problem known. I forgot my charger and dress at the cabin, and the owner was so kind to offer to send the dress at no charge. We've good memories of our stay. Highly recommend.

The level of quiet you experience out here is unmatched! The only way to describe it out here is like being in a sound proof room. The cabins were very clean, no tv which was perfect! A box to place your cellphones in. As you see in the picture they do provide you with a landline phone. I suggest that when going make sure you take paper plates and plastic utensils. Definitely take your own drinking water. I also brought an industrial garbage bag. I cooked my favorite foods, everything was delicious. Bring your own seasonings. They provide the basic seasonings and a few packets of olive oil. The one think that bothered me was the smell of the hot water, even after running it a while there was this odor. We stayed 4 days 3 nights for around $375 total PROS : Fairly spacious 1 Bedroom cottage Kitchenette came fully equipped Doors on cottage locked securely Enclosed Porch Super family friendly with lots of outside activities for kids Movie night 2 days a week Walmart and Gas station right up the street Each cottage had a bbq grill (dirty) but they all had one CONS : Super narrow when driving down hill to unload your things into the cottage so turning around can be challenging (especially with the "no driving on grass" signs. You can unload but you have to park in the lot at the top of the hill and walk back down Wifi was not working well so your basically without service most of the time Lots of BEES The bed was really uncomfortable so we slept on the futon in the living room The heat didn't really work so at night and I'm the early morning it would be freezing. Like throw a hoodie on cold They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels But the blanket that's offered is mad thin so I wish I would of brought my own A few of the dishes were dirty and had to be rewashed before use The tv in my auntie cottage couldn't have been bigger then 20inch (my desktop monitor is bigger) mines was a little bigger then hers which she didn't understand because we paid the same amount for our separate cottages Bonfire pit was right off the water, so it was super windy, cold, and water kept splashing us while we were trying to get it lit The furniture in the cabins was pretty outdated not "rustic" ..outdated The cottages need face lifts which is obvious the paint in my bedroom what bubbling and separating from the walls The shower heads OMG the shower heads was just to much for me.. like if I needed to bring my shower head from home as well they could of just said that! lol but no seriously I was so sad taking a "quick" shower it gave me jail flashbacks! I could of came off another star if it wasn't like that. We didn't get much beach time in because it was pretty windy our entire stay and the current in the water was not playing lol Soooo our 3rd day was everyone's else's last day at the cottage so we end up getting our last day all to ourselves, and is being the nosey individuals that we are after they cleaned the rooms we asked if we could check out the other cottages, when I tell you I was sick that 2 of the other ones had real shower heads and better TVs we deemed 1,7,11 the best cottages to stay in (they have 11 total) We stayed in 4 and 6. The actual beach is a few minutes up the road and it's much more space with sand and the water was more calm to let the kids play in I believe it's called Lakeport state park Overall, would I go back? Maybe .. I wouldn't jump on the opportunity I would also only stay in one of those 3 cottages for a better experience.
