We've had Bella photograph our family six times, and we highly recommend her. I can't get enough of her photos! She is responsive, responsible, kind, patient, and engaged with the children. And her photographs are gorgeous! I found Bella when I was looking for a newborn photographer for my second child. I really wanted someone who would give me the digital high res images and not force me to buy prints. Bella is awesome, and I think a bit unusual, in that she gives you several touched-up perfect digital shots, *and* a big file of most of the other shots she took during the session. I can't emphasize enough how important this is to me: I get at least a dozen perfect pictures, and then dozens more. Often I'll find more favorites in the raw file -- and Bella will touch these up for a nominal fee if desired, although I'll admit I find them pretty much perfect without further touch-ups. And I love looking through the raw file just to remember the antics of my children during the shoot. Bella was perfect as a newborn photographer. She was very flexible when my baby came a week early. One of the things that sticks with me is that Bella called that morning before she came to our house, just to make sure it was still a good time; she put our family's needs ahead of her schedule. Thankfully it was a good time, and she came right over, stayed several hours, was gentle and lovely to work with, and she got lots of wonderful images of our new son. Along with family shots, Bella also took several of our older child alone, which helped her to feel included and special. Since then we've done several more sessions with Bella -- indoor, outdoor, Christmas, spring blooms, summer birthdays, city scenes, garden settings. We've gotten beautiful images each time; some posed and traditional, some playful, some photo-journalistic. One of the things I really appreciate is that Bella will work with me ahead of time on themes, props, and outfits. She is incredibly patient as I propose ideas and we work out details. Her holiday cards and announcements are also beautiful -- much, much nicer than those you can order online. The paper is great quality, the designs are unique, and she makes sure that the colors are spot on. I highly recommend Bella Wang Photography. I started planning the proposal to my now fiancée (Taylor) about 6 months ago and other than the ring, the most important decision I knew I would have to make throughout the planning process was finding the right photographer to share this moment with. I started researching photographers in the Boston area online and submitting inquiries (using sites like Yelp, Wedding Wire, and Google). I knew after my first correspondence with Bella that she was the right person to capture this monumental life event for myself, my fiancée, and for the family and friends who could not be there in person due to safety concerns of COVID-19 and would lean on those photos to feel like they were there in person. Almost every photographer got back to me with a cookie cutter response, something a long the lines of "Thank you for inquiring about pricing. What dates are you interested in and what time?, Pricing is X, Y, or Z.. ". Not exactly the response I'm looking for to sell me on the fact that they were the right person for the job. Bella on the other hand, reached out and wanted to get to know more about Taylor and I. She wanted to know how we started dating, what our story was, what our hobbies are, whats important to us, what locations would be meaningful for the proposal, and so on and so forth. It felt like she truly cared about us and by getting to know us better, she was able to come up with an effective strategy to capture the proposal and all of its glory on the Esplanade along the Charles River. She answered question after question I had during the weeks leading up to it and she took it in stride. She made sure my expectations were realistic, helped with the logistical planning of timing, what background to use based on the position of the sun that day, all while keeping the experience extremely friendly and professional. As someone who wanted to make sure the proposal would go as smooth as possible, I could not be more grateful for her guidance. She reminded me to just have fun and take in the moment, to not worry if I don't propose in the exact location we had discussed. Taylor and I could not be more ecstatic about the photos she captured and we are blessed to be able to have these for the rest of our lives. Bella Wang is extremely, incredibly talented at what she does. She isn't just a good photographer with a wonderful personality, she is an absolute whiz at using natural light. That's exactly the style of photos I wanted of my one-year-old last summer. And when I saw the photos of a good friend who had used Bella, I had pretty high hopes. First of all, Bella was incredibly flexible and accommodating. We had to reschedule a few times because of weather, and I didn't even pick a location until the day before. She was so willing and excited to try a new spot, even though it was a hike for her. When she introduced herself in the parking lot, I could tell right away that she is warm, enthusiastic, energetic, dedicated and just fun to be around. She felt like a friend. One thing I love about Bella is that she really uses every aspect of the location, turning things you might not even notice into props. That meant we got a huge variety of shots, every single picture was different. It also kept my daughter entertained, giving her things to interact with. We used a farm for the location, and unexpectedly ended up with gorgeous, fun shots of my daughter feeding baby goats. Bella really took things in stride and was excited to try new things. She was also VERY patient! And fantastic at getting my daughter to smile and look at the camera, a tough task! So the shoot experience could not have been better, but still nothing prepared me for how breath-taking the images were when I received them a few weeks later. I had pretty high expectations, and she exceeded all of them. Bella is just so incredible at catching the light. No matter what spot we were in, under a tree or in a row of sunflowers, the photos are just drenched in this gorgeous sunlight that makes my daughter look downright celestial! I hadn't even planned on being in the photos, but Bella heard me mention that I have very few photos with her since I'm always behind the camera, so she snuck in a few shots of the two of us. They're just priceless. I'm so grateful to Bella for capturing my daughter so beautifully at that precious age. I have been trying to find the right words to describe the experience Bella gave my ~now~ husband and me during our engagement photos, as well as our wedding photos. Bella was the most wonderful photographer I have ever worked with. I was looking for someone who had experience with Chinese tea ceremonies and capturing the cultural details that I wanted to cherish for the rest of my life. There are a lot of photographers out there now who over promise and under deliver. Bella is not one of them. Bella delivered above and beyond. She brought everything I had envisioned and hoped for to life. I am not a very creative person, and Bella was able to work patiently with me to curate photographs that did not look dated but ones that could last a lifetime. For our engagement shoot, we carefully prepared for a snow shoot and she was open and honest with me from the beginning of how finicky snow shoots could be. We communicated constantly between engagement photos and wedding day, she helped me make decisions on what would photograph well, timing and direction. I was really hesitant to have my wedding and reception all in the same tent, but could not come up with an alternative, Bella came back with a new idea for the ceremony space, and we got hitched without a hitch. I've worked with Bella twice now for newborn and family photo's. She's hands down the best and I will definitely work with her in the years to come! I couldn't be happier with my photos!! Bella warned me that doing pictures with a newborn, 2 year old toddler and dog would not be as easy as our first shoot when it was just my newborn daughter. But Bella comes into your home and somehow makes it all come together, and with some tricks of the trade she manages to get the best of your kiddos...whether it's a toddler who doesn't want to sit with the rest of the family for a photo or a newborn who is fussing. The pictures she delivered to me did not reflect any of that and they were absolutely perfect. She took photos of my daughter in her own element and captured candid moments of unforced, pure joy. With the adults in the shots, she has an eye for angles and coaches you to get the most flattering version of yourself without looking posed. She started working with video in this latest shoot and surprised me with a mix of still photos, video, and music that I have sobbed over every time I have watched it! Beyond her talent, working with her was also a very positive experience. She works with you in advance to understand your priorities for the shoot, and when I've had a vision and showed her an example of something I HAD to have, she works relentlessly to get you the shot no matter how difficult. I met Bella Wang almost a year ago when I was in need of choosing a photographer to capture our daughter's first birthday. I did extensive research on this subject as people (other Moms) always have many recommendations handy. Upon reviewing the online portfolios and pricing of many photographers, I chose Bella. Her photos have "a soul", they really catch your eye. I emailed her to confirm the date. Finally, our daughter's birthday came and everything turned out great. I had a lot to handle between providing food and drinks to 29 people (adults and kids of all ages). We had a wonderful time celebrating outside in the garden adjacent to our single family home in Southie. Bella blended in with the crowd. Nothing felt posey and you would not even know she was there! We have amazing portraits as a family, fantastic group shots but most important, endless photos of many candid moments which make remembering that special day even more memorable. Bella was very professional, great to work with and a great communicator via email. She put together a fantastic slideshow and provided us with a beautiful keepsake CD with all the shots, both edited and un-edited. I was able to use many of the shots to create a keepsake photo book for our daughter. I would recommend Bella without hesitate. In fact, I hope to use her for another photo shoot either of me and my daughter or perhaps for our daughter's 2nd birthday. We had been searching the Somerville Moms listserv for a newborn photographer when we came across Bella. We had come across a number of photographers but Bella's use of natural light and the visual composition of her photographs really struck a cord with us. Contacting Bella and setting up an appointment with her were very easy. When our daughter was 6-days old Bella came to our home for our session. To our dismay, our daughter decided that rather than act like a normal sleeping newborn she wanted to fuss and all but dance a jig! Bella took this in stride and, after a few hours attempts to photograph our restless wonder, graciously offered to come back the following day to finish up. And finish up she did! Her photos are some of the most beautiful photos of our daughter as a newborn! We liked Bella so much that we also enlisted her help to take 6-month photos of our daughter and, again, Bella's phenomenal eye really captured her personality. With two great shoots under our belt it seemed like the obvious choice to call Bella again and ask her to shoot our 1-year photos. We are very much looking forward to this session! I can say with confidence that Bella's work over the last year, which was really quite good to begin with, has consistently improved. We purchased the Baby's 1st Year package and had four photo sessions with Bella. The newborn pictures she captured were incredible - she caught the millisecond smiles and created magic with her props and backdrops. She even convinced a haggard, overtired new mom to get in a couple of the shots, and I couldn't be happier she did. We also did a 4-month, 8-month and 1-year shoot in various spots around the city. After each session I was convinced we wouldn't have any happy shots of my overly-serious baby and then the proofs would come and I would see the magic Bella created. I absolutely adore Bella's creativity and energy. The workout she must get jumping around and crouching during each photo session must be killer cardio. She is also pretty amazing with kids, and incredibly patient when they don't particularly want their picture taken. I also think her packages are exactly what people want - one fee for the photo shoot and digital, retouched images. Nothing crazy, not too many options, just clear cut pricing for incredible quality. I have taken the digital images and turned them into birth announcements, christmas cards, birthday invites, canvas prints, enlargements and photo books. Bella Wang is amazing. Let me start by saying that I am a photographer myself, so my standards are quite high. I hired her based on some recommendations through my mom's email list. She shot my daughter's second birthday party. I have always regretted not having a professional at my daughter's first birthday. My husband was reluctant to spend money on something like that, so I have to live with no good photos from the first one. :( I had no time to take any. For the second birthday, we had a WONDERFUL experience with Bella, both as to her personality (totally flexible and friendly) and her shots (creative, fresh, imaginative and amazing!) - she was willing to take different groups, and move about the gym (it was at a gym) with great agility to get the great shots! I will always treasure the photos, and now that I have a second child I am trying like mad to get a date with her to shoot the family. She is super responsive, flexible and talented. What more could you want?? Her prices have remained reasonable (which helps convince my non-photography loving husband) and we plan to use her over and over again. We have used Bella for family pictures two years in a row. I always hesitate to spend the money with someone new to us - she was worth every penny and more. She really captured our 1.5 year old's personality and also gave us beautiful family shots where we all look good. Both our shoots were outdoors. She had never been to our second shoot's location before, but worked with it beautifully. She is generally laid back and easy to work with, very helpful when you have a toddler with her own ideas about how things should go. Never seems to get flustered. She was very open to all the ideas we had for locations, props, etc but also helped direct us to great spots and ideas. We will absolutely use her again if we stay in the Boston area. I also really love that she provides a DVD with all the images on it - sometimes the outtakes are so great, and we have found a few favorites that weren't in the edited images - though you also get a great set of edited images too. Now we have the hard part of figuring out which to print! Her turnaround time is very good I think but she is getting busy so good to book early. read more

I'm not at all surprised to report that Bella is still amazing! She shot our wedding over the weekend and I can't wait to see the results. She's already sent a bunch of pictures for us to preview and I absolutely love them! Bella was on time, prepared, and got right to work. Bella is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend is impossible to shop for. When he told me that the only thing he wanted for the holidays was a professional picture of us to frame and put on his desk, I figured I really should get it for him. We worked with Bella for our maternity shoot for baby #2 and the experience was awesome. We didn't have a shoot the first time around so we weren't sure what to expect and had a lot of questions and suggestions. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive Bella is, she would respond to our emails (usually same day) and address our concerns and discuss our suggestions/requests. Like everyone else around here, my wife and I have very busy schedules and Bella was very flexible - willing to work around our schedules as well as our 2 year old's nap time. It takes my daughter awhile to get comfortable with new people but Bella eased her into it and had little tricks to get her to smile at the right moments. When it was all said and done we got great photos and many compliments. We are planning on working with her again once baby #2 arrives!! We had a wonderful experience with Bella! She did newborn photos of our son and we couldn't be happier! Prior to his birth, I thought I would actually want his photos done in a studio but I was so wrong! Even though we live in a small, not particularly attractive apartment, Bella did a beautiful job finding the perfect spot to take photos. The best part was we were all so comfortable and didn't have to worry about his feeding schedule while traveling to a studio- we could easily take breaks during the session to meet his needs. I also really appreciate how prompt and responsive Bella was to emails - such a relief when you're making a big investment! She was also quick to post some teasers from our session and our DVD and birth announcements arrived within 3 weeks of the session. I was engaged in May 2013 and got married in October 2015. From that moment I was engaged, the search was on for vendors and venues. Bella did a wonderful job with our son's newborn photo session. From my first email conversations with her, I could see that she was going to be easy and fun to work with. She was very responsive, and she had very thoughtful and creative suggestions for our session. At the same time, Bella made it her priority to learn about the types of images I hoped to have. During the session, she was super patient (an important attribute when dealing with newborns who can be unpredictably fussy!). I was also impressed by her energy and stamina. Her prices are reasonable but what is most impressive is her quality. She really works with you to understand your creative vision (and if you don't have one, she has great recommendations!). And, she is super easy to work with and does not mind rolling up her sleeves to get the best shots and truly capture the essence of your family. She is warm and can even calm a 9-month old that is a bit tired towards the end of a photo shoot (something like a baby whisperer).
