Louie is the first person I met who showed me around. He's a big seller for me! Super nice and very accommodating. I had been to 2 other rehabilitation places beforehand. I looked for cleanliness, kindness of workers, workers actually working (not standing around gossiping while you hear people yelling for help) attentiveness. Also, no smell. I was (and so was my entire family and lots of visitors that came to see my mother in her 5.5 week stay) VERY satisfied! Tracy and Kim at the front desk always had happy/great attitudes and so did the rest of the staff when I was there. PT and OT workers were great! Doc was very informative too. Nurses were on top of their game too. I believe my mother mentioned Rowanda, who was a fav too! My mothers room was always clean (garbage, floors, etc). It's tough to find a decent rehab for your loved one...but I (we) were very fortunate in Bella Terra in Schaumburg. I DO NOT ever recommend the old Friendship Village. I walked in and out when I saw a number of 'HECK NO's!' Wasn't thrilled with the Bella terra in streamwood either. Smelled and lot of workers just standing around yapping to each other. A well maintained facility. Staff very friendly and responsive to patient needs and requests. Physical therapy designed for each patient, and carried out with the patient's capabilities prioritized. Food service was in room or at cafeteria on each floor. Well varied menu, quality entrees. Medical needs were "hospital" grade. I had a very ice stay. D K read more

Neglect to a great degree! Insisted my mother was some stranger on a scheduled yet late video call, to not bathing her in a shower room for several months to a degree they left her idling as to lack of memory care. Bed sores in their finest . IDPH was notified but yet it's unfounded! They want all a persons income with no care! read more

They agreed to keep my aunt after her Medicare A days were over then changed their mind. Per the state rules they were to give me a written reason, they did not. Don't trust what they tell you. They want the rich Medicare days but not custodial Medicaid. The administrator lies. read more

The help and therapist are outstanding. The food is so so, as I wasn't there for the food ,1st floor very clean, beds have new mattresses and rooms are being remodeled. Don't know about 2nd & 3rd floor. read more

Not a good option for anyone with dementia and in need of rehab in my opinion. Just not equipped to care for dementia patients appropriately. What my mom gained in physical rehab doesn't compensate for what she lost in cognitive ability because of the isolation. Big mistake in judgment for me. I hope other families will insist on rehab programs specifically designed for individuals with dementia. They are out there, so I learned. Just have to look hard for them. Otherwise, clean, caring, mostly professional staff. Impressed with nursing, medical and front desk. read more

It always upsets me when my place of business receives a negative review so I am reluctant to write stuff like this. However, we're not just talking about a steak that came out at the wrong temperature... I feel a social responsibility to detail the truth of my experience with Lexington of Schaumburg because healthcare is a very serious issue and there are not many healthcare reviews online. I hope this helps someone. My father had a stroke and went to this facility for rehabilitation. He was and still is unable to speak on his own behalf. The list of things that went wrong at this facility is frightening. I'll just name some of the major issues. There are more than enough minor ones but I'll leave them to rest. My father was severely over-medicated the first two weeks at the facility. We had to tell several nurses and managers on several different occasions that they were giving him too much pain medication. Finally they lowered his doses. My brother witnessed an employee being very physically aggressive while trying to move my father in the bed. One of the therapists my Dad often worked with refused to believe the details of the story surrounding his brain injury. He accused both my brother and I of not telling the truth about the chain of events regarding his condition. When I discussed this with another employee, she insisted this therapist really does have the ability to comprehend. The problem was just that he's a terrible listener who has to be told the same thing 10 times before he'll accept it as fact. She then gave me her personal cell phone number and offered to help me find another facility for my father because she didn't think he would excel at Lexington. One employee told me that she heard a manager lie to me over the phone. I will not be ratting this person out by giving the details. It took one of the managers several weeks to figure out that my father was a stroke victim (as opposed to being born brain damaged) because, unfortunately, this person suffers from the same problem that the therapist has - an inability to accept information until it's repeated at least 10 times. Once, an employee came in my father's room to wash him. She expressed that she was frustrated by the fact that if she didn't do it, nobody else would. We were constantly getting different instructions and or updates from different members of the staff. I have a ton of specific examples I can site but detailing them would take all day. Bottom line, none of the middle managers at that facility are accountable for anything. Every time we got wrong or differing answers, they blame each other, their staff, or us. When my father left Lexington, his new nurse had to call them several times to practically beg for a report. After waiting some time, she decided to call them just to ask if he was allergic to medications. She was told no. When the records finally made their way over, they stated that my father was allergic to 5 medications! The new nurse told me that they are one of the most unprofessional facilities that she's ever had to deal with. The positives are that the facility is very clean, it has a spacious dining room, a nice outdoor porch, big rooms, nice views, and updated therapy equipment. Some of the nurses, CNAs, therapists, and other staff (activities staff, dining crew, cleaning crew, etc.) are wonderful, positive people who greet you with a smile each and every time they see you. Many of them shared their personal stories of hope and encouragement and I will be forever grateful to them for that and for the special attention they gave my father. The only way Lexington can work for you is if your loved one is still able to communicate their needs clearly and you do not have to rely on management to receive information, instruction, or updates. If your relative cannot talk, or if they suffer from Alzheimer's or something similar, don't even think about this place. read more

Iam writing this because Iam fed up with this place on Roselle rd. My brotherinlaw has been here over 2 months. Has bone on bone hip problem, overweight and diagnosed with kidney cancer. They treat him like he's not a human being. They let him sit in his own feces and urine for over 2 hrs before they came in to clean him up. His lunch was sitting on his table and cold for 1 hr before they came in. Unacceptable in my book. That's 1 way bed sores start. Give him some dignity for God sakes. Don't go here unless your desperate and can walk and talk. Horrible read more

I was in 1 day shy of 3 weeks. After the bad experience I had at Elmhurst Hospital (back surgery) I was traumatize, when i got to Lexington Health Care Schaumburg the first day sleeped but the next 19 day they made me feel so at home between the CNA, Nurses, Physical Therapist, Director and everyone else they made it a very great recovery and pleasant experience. read more

This place teaches it's staff how to cover up patient abuse and Medicare fraud. If my loved one was in a comma, I still wouldn't send them here. Staff is waaay understaffed and overworked, the management is only interested in cash. Stay away! read more

My husband needed to stay here for about 80 days from last sept thru December. While I noticed it appeared to be understaffed at times, the care he received was very good. Attentive, helpful and caring staff. Some went over and above. He was on the first floor so we never did see the other floors. He said he could recommend it. In fact after his second surgery he could have gone elsewhere but he chose to go back there. read more

This convalescent/nursing home is a model for others, in my opinion. Mom was there for rehab for several months after she broke her hip. The whole place is light and bright. The staff is friendly. The food is healthy and varied. Even a snack in the afternoon. Their dining room is open from morning till night and, on the first floor -rehab- doubles as the activities room. Also has a super large wall mount TV. There's often something going on there as they have a sweet caring lady that organizes things almost daily. The dining room is right by the nurse's station, so fall risks are carefully and easily monitored. Their rooms are kept clean...they're bright...they're doubles, but in mom's stay there that never presented a problem. I can't say enough good things about this facility. I toured the entire facility in anticipation of placing mom there. All three floors were impressive. Their memory care floor was, IMO, amazing. I could go on and on. It's a fine facility. read more

I've volunteered at this center so I have first-hand experience of this center. This is a very good community of seniors. This facility offers really great care for them. The staff is composed of rained and registered people who treat all the people very kindly. Also there's lots of people working voluntarily and spending time with the people. It is a pleasant place to be, everybody is really pleasant -- from all the workers to all the older senior people there! read more

So disappointed in the services in this awful place. My Uncle has been in there for 2 months and it is treated terribly. He is overweight and unable to go to the bathroom on his own. He sits in his stools for hours in his diaper. You ask for help and they say they will be back and then they come back hours later. He is in there for therapy to get prepare for surgery. They have no compassion for the people who stay there for a long period of time. I don't live near him otherwise I would be there every day!! He is supposed to be on a restricted diet and they give him boston creme pie!!! I can't wait for him to get out!! Don't go there!! Worse place ever!! read more

My mother recently had a knee replacement surgery and is currently being taken care of at Lexington. When we arrived she was given a bedpan and the receiving nurse said she cannot get out of bed alone and must use the wheelchair with staff assistance. If she cannot wait for assistance, she has to use the bedpan. She left the hospital with specific doctor's orders to have a walker to get in and out of bed and for bathroom trips. At the hospital, it took her 2 days of painful physical therapy to progress to "waker status," and being able to stand up on her own and this was like reverting back to day 1. For the past week, she has a roommate that has a respiratory illness where the patient is constantly gurgling, hacking very loud and spitting up flem constantly. It is so loud and startling that my mother is unable to sleep at night and the oxygen machine generates so much noise near her bed that she is not able to rest. She is very unhappy at this point, pleading to be discharged so she could rest at home. They just told her this weekend that she has to stay another week. The facility has many vacant rooms and they have ignored our requests to be moved to a different room. I will update my review prior to her discharge. read more

On May 19th, 2016 my 87 year old mother had fallen and broken her hip and after three days in the hospital was placed at your location in Schaumburg, IL. Although there were many facility choices for rehabilitation and care, it became crystal clear after talking to the Admissions Coordinator of your Schaumburg location that she needed to be there. Lexington staff swiftly arranged a visit for our family to discuss my mother's overall needs, including admission, transition, financial, and most especially rehabilitation needs. She answered all our questions and gracefully made us aware of other housekeeping things along the way. Her pledge of Lexington's amazing support staff and their therapist's thoughtful, focused, and time commitment of therapy exceed our wildest expectations. My mother loved the food, the pleasant catwalk outside for a stroll, and simply knowing that there are people around you who care. I'm glad we depended on Lexington for all of my mom's rehabilitation and care...because of Lexington my mom is here at home! Thank you so much. read more

I was in rehab for two weeks (Physical Therapist - Kajal P. was great) and I thank God that I am not in this place for long term! The place has all old beds that are like sleeping on a cot. The first supervisor, Kim told me all the beds were like that. I was sent there for rehab on a hip replacement and sleeping on this bed caused so much pain the entire weekend. Finally on Monday they sent me a new mattress. The food was inedible and frankly made me sick to even look at it. I called the chef in and she said it was a new menu and she never tried it. It is pathetic at best. I am disgusted that the elderly are treated in this fashion. Also, please remember to check your bill. I never had so many people coming in to say Hello and sign a chart for payment. This place has American Greed written all over the place. Please if you love your Mother or Grandmother don't put them here. There is a lot of smiles and lip service but that is where it ends. read more

We have been visiting my Father-in-law almost daily for months now at Lexington Healthcare in Schaumburg on Roselle Rd. I can not express enough the amount of gratitude we have for the staff. They care so much about his well-being and have given our family the peace of mind that he is safe and sound and being taken care of properly. Everyone from the CNA's: Dee, Daxa, and Amos, to the Nurses: Norma, Farrah, and Silvia, to Elizabeth in PT, to the Social Worker Ashley, to the NP Melanie and Palliative Care NP Michelle, to Elizabeth and Peter who run the show, they have all treated us like family and showed us the love and compassion that has helped us thru this extremely difficult time. Without all of them working as a team and truly loving their jobs, we would be lost and distraught. We absolutely recommend Lexington of Schaumburg for all your nursing and rehab needs! My grandma is currently in this Health Care Center and was told that she was only allowed to shower once a week. Also, my Aunt found crumbs in my Grandma's bed and my Grandma has never eaten in her bed. My Grandma asked the other patient in the room with her and she explained they dont change the sheets for your entire stay only when you leave. This is just not right! I hope my Grandma gets out of there soon! read more

When my mom fell and broke her hip, we were in the emergency room. The hospital Social Worker came in to ask us where we would like to place Mom for rehab care. We selected Lexington of Schaumburg. Our Dad was there for two years as a long term care resident and we felt the care he was given at the facility was great. The rehab team at Lexington Schaumburg is wonderful. As a family, we feel as if she is getting good nursing care. The housekeeping team is excellent - the facility is always very clean. We would strongly recommend Lexington Schaumburg for anyone who is looking for rehab services. read more

My Mother stayed here for three months after a hospital stay. It was horrible! The staff does not communcate with each other or with the patient or the family. We had to call police to get the staff and residents to stop smoking at the front door! The outlets in her room were hanging out of the wall. She was miserable and we would have moved her if they hadn't kept saying she was only going to be there for two weeks and then two more weeks, etc. read more

First I would like to say I had no problem with nurses and CNA, but the corporation running the place the greed shines through. I was in rehab there for 3 weeks. If you have any other problems other than the rehab they are are making money on such as outside doctor appointments be ready to jump through hoops. If you think you or your loved one would enjoy a bed made up of urine stained linen you've come to the right place. You are allowed two showers a week and you have to be on top of staff to get one. When going for first rehab treatment a random doctor will talk to you telling you what your own doctor has already told you. Except a separate bill. If a nurse practitioner comes to talk to you and orders anything for you expect a separate bill from the nurse practitioner. Any bill left over not paid from your insurance and need to make a payment plan you should enjoy their condescending billing department. I had a $778 dollar bill left over as my responsibility. I asked if I could pay the bill by credit card. I was told they do not accept credit cards. I agreed to pay them $100 a month. They will only except payment by check through the mail. No website to pay bill and I was told they would not except payment directly from my bank with my banks paybill feature. I have already sent them 3 payments of $100 but my bill is still $501. Figure out that math. I just mailed a 4th check today and I am looking forward to seeing what my next bill will say I owe. If My next bill is more than $401 I will just go ahead and pay the balance even though I cannot afford to that amount all at once. read more

Nice facility with friendly and accommodating staff. This location has very good rehab. program for physical and occupation therapy.

I had a family member at Lexington after experiencing a stroke, and while she was there she was treated fairly, but there were a few instances that really disturbed my family. For one thing, she was left alone a lot because she could not communicate verbally anymore. Also, she needs glasses to see and the caretakers repeatedly forgot to put her glasses on for her, despite having signs posted everywhere as a reminder. In addition, while at Lexington she developed pain in her abdomen that was mysteriously never diagnosed as anything serious. The pain was so intense and times that it would bring her to tears, but we were told she was just depressed. Once her time was up, thanks to medicare, she was sent home sick. Very sick. She ended up in the hospital one week from discharge and was diagnosed with an inflamed intestine, and a bacteria in her colon. These problems were apparent while at Lexington but the staff there did not see the need to send her to the hospital for care. Our entire family is very disappointed and saddened that the people at Lexington would rather dump a patient because of lack of funding rather than find a solution that is best for the persons welfare. read more
