They have helped her to become more independent while keeping a positive mindset when she is struggling. I think what's most impressive is the entire facility works together to give residents a feeling of belonging and a sense of control whenever they can. The facility makes an effort to celebrate anything and everything which gives the residents something to look forward to. Today they took a group of residence out to see a movie. What a huge lift, but they made it happen. I have a lot of experience with long-term care facilities and this one really knocks it out of the park. I want to start by giving the internal administration much credit for their patience,…read moreprofessionalism and understanding during my time here. I am a current resident who's been at Bella Terra Wheeling for a little more than thirteen months. I have seen Mike, Kandi, Nikki, Yesenia, Jocelyn, Fran, and Michelle work very hard to keep this facility running. Many of the nurses and CNAs provide good support to care for the patients at this nursing/rehabilitation home. I have seen the staff as a team handle multiple situations to provide care and comfort for the patients. I also want to say that I am impressed with the Activity and Receptionist team members as they provide more layers of assistance and cohesiveness to help form a strong employee base. One of the benefits of living and recuperating at this facility is that the meals are decent. I lived at another home before transferring here and the food is actually much better. I get meals with chicken as the main course far more than I used to at the previous rehab center. And I get fresh salads more often as well. Bella Terra Wheeling also has staff members in place to help with setting up doctor appointments and transportation. For an independent person like myself, I don't utilize all of the services available but I am very glad that many residents do have access to these benefits. I want to close out my review with a huge thank you to each and every staff member for being patient and understanding with me and many of the residents as caring for us can be quite challenging at times. Thank you very much!

I just want to say that Bella Terra in Wheeling has become my family. My mom stayed there for over…read more2 years before she passed away. I was so hesitant on leaving her at Bella Terra as I did not know anything about her condition which was Dementia and Bella Terra. I had no clue how to take care of my mom as she was uncontrollable and hard to reason with. I am also a really hard person to deal with as I fight for every living breath for my family and try to prolong their life as much as I can. I want to say Thank you to Angelina, my lovely angel nurse Daisy, nurse Raj and many more nurses and CNAs that took care of my mom. Daisy you of all people I owe a huge apology to by not cooperating with you especially. You guys saw my mom slipping away to cancer and dementia and I tried to fight for her life and I was wrong. Hospice gave her freedom and relief from her pain and I tried to hold on and gave grief to you and Angelina. You guys were angels to put up with me. God bless you both as you truly are beautiful people inside and out. Daisy I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care onf my mom. Bella Terra not only cares for their patients , their nurses go above and beyond for caring for people with dementia and help bring their life to reality. Every visit I saw big involvement with patients from care, food service, entertaintment, physical therapy. These patients would not have a life at home the way they get cared for at Bella Terra. These are my parting words. The care you will receive will be exceptional and the nurses they have here deserve pay of a celebrity with the care they provide for patients with severe mental and physical disabilities. They are truly angels and I was glad to meet every one of you especially Daisy and have you care for my mother. I love you all from the bottom of my heart and will consider you all part of my family.

My mom was in a big, fancy, expensive nursing home where she was neglected, fell down in the…read morebathroom with no one helping her, and had half of her stuff taken by either the residents or the staff - we still aren't sure. Caring.com put Harbor House in touch with me and from the moment I spoke with Savannah, the executive director, I knew this place was special. Savannah actually did the assessment at the big, fancy, expensive nursing home and confirmed what I already suspected. We moved her out of there and Savannah actually drove out there and helped me move her stuff and my mom (I was visiting mom out of town). Over the next few days, I got a very up-close look at Harbor House and how the staff interacts with their residents. I popped in at unexpected times and walked through the adjacent buildings. I never saw a deviation from the excellence of care I saw the first time - not even once. I never saw residents mistreated or spoken to condescendingly, like I did at the other place. The caregivers are amazing women. Sam, Becky, Brittany, are really hands on nurses. Sam spent tons of time with me, discussing my mother's medications. The doctors call you and I spoke with Dr. Ernst about my mom for an hour! I couldn't even get the doctor at the big, fancy place to return my call! The place is small and it's warm and cozy - like a previous commenter said, it's not like an institution at all. It's like a home. My mom has an adorable sunny, private room with her own bathroom. She's always got someone there to help her. All I can say about this place except is that it's exceptional. I have learned that big, fancy nursing homes are usually understaffed and can't manage the needs of their patients. This place CARES for their patients. I don't need crystal chandeliers and big lobbies. I need individualized care with people who treat the elderly like the human beings they are. Harbor House does this. The owner of this facility needs to be very proud of his staff and his philosophies. I hope they never change. Amazing place.
