It was spicy, succulent and divine. The other highlight were the grilled mushrooms. Perfectly baked in tin foil, they were buttery and tasted even better with a dusting of chilli powder. We ventured out and tried a bacon wrapped lycée - it sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately the bacon let down the dish. It was the thick type of bacon and tasted a bit too much like a slab of ham. The waiters lacked a little common sense and muddled up our orders quite a few times. If you have a table of five people, 3 pieces of salmon sushi is not going to be enough to fill hungry bellies. They did redeem themselves, in my books anyway, by "messing up" and bringing us two plates of volcano rolls instead of one. We happily paid. My verdict, go for the volcano roll, but it's not a high restaurant on my list to return to.

After eating so much street food, vendor food, and night market food, we all agreed that a place with more "pure" ingredients would be better for lunch. There really are a ton of selections offered from their menu. You can have rice or noodle soup, your soup can be dry or in a broth, you can have different types of seafood balls, chicken wings, beef brisket, you can choose the type of noodle you want, etc. The possibilities are endless. Prices are also fairly cheap. A bowl of soup is around $28 HKD which is about $4 USD. I think that's a steal! I ordered the beef ball noodle soup with thicker rice noodles. The broth was really clear, and the overall dish was what I needed to combat my unhealthy meals from the days before. There were 5 beef balls in the soup and a ton of cilantro thrown on top, which I loved. Noodles were cooked on point - slightly chewy. Beef balls had that resilient bite to them - overall a really solid dish. My mom ordered her pork knuckle soup with thicker rice noodles and was disappointed that the soup was tomato based. Apparently many restaurants in HK like using tomato based soups/sauces when cooking with pork knuckle, something I am not accustomed to. Overall the dish wasn't bad, but my mom wasn't a fan of the soup because of the tomato taste and the amount of oil in it. The pork knuckle also was cooked in tomato broth, so it definitely didn't have the taste she was looking for. A pass on this dish. The soup noodle with fish ball - very similar to the beef ball soup, except that instead of beef balls, the dish had different types of fish balls. Soup was exactly the same as mine. If you're not a fan of beef balls and more into the seafood combination, I'd recommend this dish since you get to try more of a variety of toppings. Chicken wings with rice - this dish required a few extra minutes to cook since they actually cook the wings right then and there upon ordering. I thought it tasted pretty good. The dish had 3-4 chicken wings on it along with an egg. There was a good amount of rice as well as soy sauce drizzled on top of the rice, giving it enough flavor to eat if you happened to finish all of the wings. My sister thought the wings were really good - slightly crispy, but still juicy on the inside. And we ordered steamed vegetables, just to maintain our healthy lunch meal. The vegetables were not special, but tasted fine. Because the dishes didn't have any vegetables in them, it was a really smart idea that we got this on the side. Restaurant itself is fairly big with a ton of tables and booths inside. You pretty much seat yourself and the waitress will take your order when you're ready. And when you're finished, you pay at the front. Since the food comes out pretty fast, I don't expect that you'll have to wait since people seem to come in and out in under 30 minutes. tl;dr - Decent place for healthy food. Not salty at all and had such a clean and creamy taste. Noodles were cooked perfectly and tasted similar to thin ramen noodles. It came with 2 different cuts of chicken and both were so tender. I especially enjoyed the cut of the thigh. The fried burdock root had a nice chewy texture. It didn't get too soggy even sitting in the warm broth for a while. I'd say it could be just a tad more crispy because it was a little hard to bite though but the flavour was perfect. Honestly it is quite pricy for a bowl of noodles, but I would definitely revisit as it was that good. Definitely worth the trek out to try!
