Margarita Pizza cheese was frozen, service was good and fast enough, atmosphere was good enough I guess.

Aaaah, Capers. Sadly I am old enough to remember the original Capers on Great Victoria Street from…read moremy sixth form days. If you'd been to Capers, you were Officially Cool. That restaurant closed and Capers moved to its current smaller site at Ballyhackamore. Capers is the ideal spot for when you have some month left at the end of the money. It's not licensed so you have the pleasure of bringing your own wine or beer. If you go for a 10 inch pizza which is plenty for one, you'll only pay about £6-8 each, with chips and garlic bread at about £2 each. This is a really small restaurants and there isn't much apart from pizza on the menu - just a couple of pasta dishes and chicken nuggets for the freakish few kids who don't like pizza. I'm delighted to report that the pizzas are just as good as they always were - thin crispy bases and load of cheese plus whatever topping you choose in a generous helping. Another bonus for me is that you can have your pizza made with cheddar as I'm not a big mozzarella fan. If you're planning to go on a particular night, make sure you book as this little gem fills up fast at weekends as it really is a cheap, cheerful and fun venue. Great for kids too.

They have a good little deal on at the moment (free garlic bread) when two pizzas are ordered, thats a sure start way to ruin your breath for an evening. The pizzas here are nice and they have their own individual style and character, however a tad over priced for me. Unlike the big chain pizza places that are really competitive and have rock bottom offer prices sometimes, Capers fails to compete on the same level in my opinion. But you can 'bring yer own' and make bookings for groups and parties. A good place to go if you want to go to a little independent restaurant.

I can't vouch for the other two pizzerias, but this one is pretty darn good! Ballyhackamore is an up-and-coming part of East Belfast, with the recent opening of Horatio Todds, as well as consisting of more established restaurants such as Mandarin City, Little Fat Buddha and The Point. For me, Little Wing is long overdue in Ballyhackamore, purely because the village has been lacking a decent pizzeria. This one is not only a restaurant, but a takeaway too! Order a slice from the window, and it comes in a cute triangular box. I'd buy it just for the box... If you would like more than just a slice, they will happily serve you a whole pizza too. With a huge variety of pizzas, as well as a couple of pasta dishes, you really are spoilt for choice. On the two occasions I've visited, the Pollo and Funghi has been extremely good choices (it's making me hungry just thinking about these scumptious pizzas), but you can't really go wrong. Decent sized tasty pizza + cooked in a tradtional fire stone oven = devoured in seconds. Honestly, I think I swallowed mine, on both occasions. Yum, yum, yum. Dessert is offered too, and despite being smaller than I'd hoped, the chocolate pot was just gorgeous. The Nutella pizza sounds absolutely heavenly, and sure, there's always next time! The staff are gloriously friendly and helpful too. I paid a visit on a Wednesday night about a month ago, and Wednesday lunch time last week, and although the place was crazy busy both times, the waitresses did a brilliant job. Coupled with a great atmosphere, Little Wing Pizzeria is a wonderfully cosy restaurant which is sure to bring a smile to your face and a satisfied feeling to your tummy.

Having started following a fully vegan lifestyle from January 2018, I've recently heard good things about Greens and how they now offer an extensive range of vegan options. Hence I decided to throw caution to the wind and give it a go. Ballyhackamore Greens is definitely popular, especially with families, as it was extremely busy when we arrived circa 7pm, Friday 30/03/2018. We got the last remaining booth and ordered Vegan Butter Garlic Bread, which was also topped with vegan cheese when set in front of us - not what we asked for, as we had specified no cheese when ordering! But hey-ho. Our pizzas were a Bawnmore; no cheese, artichokes, olives, peppers, onions and oregano. Plus the Earlswood; tomato, vegan cheese, mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn and basil. All bland, bland, bland, blah. In fairness the Garlic Bread Starter was decent and Brawnmore better than the Earlswood thanks to lots of olives. But nothing was spectacular or even really good. We piled on chilli flakes, garlic oil and chilli oil. Once we managed to obtain chilli oil that is - we had to ask three times for it! Third ask brought forth an admission from a waitress that there's only one bottle of garlic and one bottle of chilli oil for the whole restaurant! Hence she set off to retrieve it from another table for us. Absolutely ridiculous and quite comical! Greens either need to invest in a few more bottles of oil, or when customers ask for oil possibly dispense it into small containers and leave to tables as necessary. I wanted to give this branch of Greens a chance and really hoped to like it, especially because of the numerous vegan options. Unfortunately thick chewy pizza bases, bland toppings, an unwelcoming maître d' (abrupt and unsmiling with an air of just not wanting to be there) plus a comical farce over obtaining a bit of chilli oil really let this restaurant down. Not an enjoyable experience.

It was really not greasy at all like some pizza places can be and the doagh was really fresh too. The resteraunt was really nice. The atmosphere was great, it was a Saturday evening, they had music playing in the background and a bit of bustle about the place. Really laid back and relaxing dining experience and the staff were very chatty and friendly. I will definitely be returning. Also, you can bring your own booze, wine or beer only. Wine £2 corkage and beer is 75p.
