I stopped nearby for something else, got a recommendation from a local, and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The building has great curb appeal--fresh paint, clean signage, and a tidy appearance that pulls you in. Inside, it's a casual, counter-service setup with a clean, open dining room and a few booths around the edge. The vibe is informal and welcoming. The food is served cafeteria-style: you pick your meat and sides, and they plate it for you. While the default seems to be takeout, you're welcome to sit and eat there. I went with the baked chicken, which comes with rice and gravy and includes two sides. I picked cabbage and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was exactly what you'd hope for--cheesy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful with satisfying cheese pulls in every bite. The cabbage was cooked just right--tender but not mushy--with great seasoning. The rice and gravy had deep, balanced flavor without being too salty or heavy. In fact, nothing was oversalted, which is a rare and welcome surprise in a small spot like this. The meal also came with a small cornbread muffin that hit the spot. Dessert options included hot cobblers like apple and peach, along with a tempting variety of cake slices--all of which looked fantastic.

It could have used some salt, pepper, seasoning salt or something. The black eye peas were flavorful and the yams were just right, not overly sweet. Service was friendly. Today may be the last time. I'm extremely disappointed. I paid $13.99 for a turkey dinner plate and $18 for a veggie plate that included mac and cheese, dressing, and green beans. The pricing is completely unfair. The regular veggie plate is $13.99, but there's a $2 extra charge for mac and cheese or dressing because they "aren't vegetables." Who does that? Charging $2 extra for each, when the difference between the cost of mac and cheese and green beans as sides is less than a dollar, makes no sense. The upcharge policy just doesn't add up, and it feels like a bad deal for customers. The food is generally good, but they could definitely back off on the salt. Also, I'm not a fan of their yams--they're almost like mashed potatoes, which is not the texture I expect. On the other hand, I really like their potato salad. It's one of the highlights for me but there was none today. On top of that, my service today wasn't great either. I usually come during the week when the two elders, an older woman and gentleman, are there. They are always so pleasant and provide excellent service. But today, the experience fell short. I'm going to give them a break for now and hope they review their pricing structure. If they fix it, I might consider coming back. Otherwise, this may have been my last visit.

Our waitress was super friendly, and since it was our first time, she took her time explaining the menu and answering our questions, which we really appreciated. The food was excellent across the board. Everything we ordered was flavorful, and even the sides stood out. I highly recommend the yams and the mac and cheese, both were good. We started with the gumbo, which was tasty and for our mains we had the oxtail and fish. Both were cooked well and full of flavor. The ambiance was another highlight. The vibe was relaxed and cool, with good R&B music playing in the background. This made the whole experience feel enjoyable and laid-back. One thing to note: parking is mandatory valet, but it's tip-based only. Overall, Roc South Cuisine is a great spot with great food, great service, and a solid vibe. Definitely worth checking out.

This was a bit disheartening due to the fact that several of them made complaints during the duration of our wait about how long they were waiting for their food. The restaurant was mostly empty, but it took more than a while for food and drinks to come out. However when the food did arrive at the table, it was well seasoned, very fresh and the portions were a decent size. I can see this Restaurant being a good pie for girls night out, we didn't order any alcoholic drinks so I can't speak to that but it's the same aesthetic as most Atlanta restaurants. Blue velvet, grass wall and chandelier vibes. Since we went on a weekday at an early time, we didn't have to pay for parking but be mindful that I'm busier day/night there might be a parking fee

I literally searched Black-owned restaurants in the area/going toward home. I was leaving commencement downtown and wanted to get something to eat. Walking in, there is a lot of open space and I needed to take the time to read their signage to see what I needed to do. They ask that you not be on your phone while in line. They have their menu posted and some chalkboards with other menu items at the start of the line. There is so much to choose from and everything looks fresh. The woman taking my order was helpful and kind. I was almost overwhelmed, but decided on the smothered porkchop with rice, candied yams, dressing, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, and a sweet tea/lemonade to drink. I paid roughly $40 after adding the tip. I sat down to eat and enjoy my food. They were playing 90s R&B and it wasn't too loud so you couldn't hear yourself think. It was at an enjoyable volume that you could sing the words in your head and still talk to people at your table. The food tasted amazing. I was not able to finish it all and was ready for a nap after eating. Everything was flavorful. I LOVED seeing so many young people working in this establishment. Everyone I encountered was a young adult; even the young men working in the kitchen who made brief appearances at the front were young adults. They were all so professional and polite. You don't always get that, but that was my experience. I have already talked about this restaurant with my friends and family and we will make a trip back soon.

There was some confusion on where to enter the building due to lack of signage, but we figured it out. Upon entering, I immediately was overwhelmed by how loud the music was. I have sensory issues and asked if we could be seated outside, but was told that there was a party outside. We were seated inside and no one in my group could hear each other speak the whole time we ate due to how loud the music was. We couldn't hear the server either. Our server immediately gave us menus, silverware, and waters. He didn't introduce himself or really say much of anything. We were left to look at the menus for 5-10 minutes. Upon looking at the menus, we were extremely disappointed to see that much of what we came for was not available due to it being a brunch item. This was not communicated ANYWHERE on the website and we would not have chosen to dine here had we known. We chose to stay and eat due to already paying $10 for parking across the street. Once we came to terms with the fact that we would not be eating french toast or waffles, we began looking at the menu to decide what to order. It was then that I noticed how expensive everything was. The food is even more expensive than the menu on the website, and the item that I decided upon - the catfish and grits - was $30. This is unreasonably expensive for what it was and I would have priced it at about $18 to be generous. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food and eventually my catfish and grits and my mother's shrimp and grits were served. The sauce around the grits was cold, and the grits themselves weren't super hot. It was obvious that they had been sitting while the fish and shrimp was being cooked. The portion itself was too much to eat in one sitting and grits are not something that would reheat well so we left them instead of trying to take them home. When our grits were served, the waiter told us my step-mother's smothered pork chop would be right out. It did not come for another 10 minutes. One of her sides was a salad, but not even that was brought out. While my mother and I's grits were phenomenal in flavor, my step-mother's pork chop was barely edible. She said that it was tough, especially when she was not provided anything more than a butter knife to cut with, and the gravy on top was so salty that I gagged upon tasting it. It tasted like gravy mix from a packet that was combined with the drippings from a meat that had already been seasoned. My step-mother prefers things to be more salty, but even she had to peel the breading off to be able to eat the pork chop. Keep in mind, this was also about $30. Our service was poor. The waiter didn't introduce himself, as I said, and he did not ask if we wanted anything more than water to drink. He was barely able to be heard over the loud music, but he also didn't say much. He did not check up on us during our meal or say anything while we waited 40+ minutes for our food. And when we went up to the cash register to pay our bill, we were left standing there for about 5 minutes while various servers and workers walked by and went behind the register without even acknowledging our presence. This was very off-putting and a terrible way to end a lackluster dinning experience. Upon paying our bill, we were forced to pay a mandatory 15% tip and a 7% service fee. And then they had the audacity to ask for an additional tip despite their poor service. We all left Platez feeling very disappointed, despite how delicious my mother and I's grits were. We all had the sentiment that we would have had a better time eating at Waffle House because we went for brunch food in the first place. Platez is (in my opinion) horribly overpriced and the service was terrible. I try to be positive, but I would never come here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
