Badda Bing catered a garden party for 50 in our backyard on a Saturday afternoon. once we settled on a menu (finger foods primarily) everything was wonderful. Mini crab cakes, mini pastry shells with Brie and raspberries, bruschettas with pimiento cheese and olive tapenade. crackers and cheeses, seasoned nuts. individual desserts of key lime pie and chocolate mousse in little cups, and gluten free chocolate cookies. Badda Bing made many accommodations to our gluten free guest of honor. their server was extremely personable and moved foods from the fridge to the patio in a timely manner, keeping an eye on the temperature and sunshine. we provided the tables, cloths, cups, plates, napkins, ice and coolers, and all the beverages. we recommend them for whatever event you are planning. Thanks to Ivan's recommendation, the mister and I chose Badda Bing as our wedding caterers, too! And what a great decision that was! Our wedding was wonderful. The food, drinks, service, and presentation were all absolutely fabulous. Michael and Tanya and their staff did an incredible job, and our guests had a great time and are still commenting on how awesome the food was. My parents were so impressed with level of service, and it eased their stress levels (as official hosts) to know that the reception was in such skilled hands. We really didn't have to worry about anything - the transitions from cocktail hour to dinner to dessert happened seamlessly... like magic! Badda Bing catered our wedding June 30th. Firstly their customer service is amazing. Chef Michael met us at the restaurant after we had decided on what direction we wanted to go with our food. "Southern BBQ". We picked up a truckload of food to take home to conduct a tasting at home. We chose the pickiest friends available that nite and had them over for dinner. The food was delicious, but there were some changes we wanted to make. Chef Michael was very accommodating with our changes. Every single one of our guests absolutely LOVED the food. We're still hearing about it. The servers were very professional. The bartenders were efficient and kept up with the crowd. Overall. We met Michael through a mutual friend. He was catering a function of hers when a light bulb (an environmentally friendly CFL one at that) clicked on over her noggin and she grabbed us to introduce us. "Uma. Oprah. Oprah. Uma." Well, kind of like that. It was more like, "Don't you just LOVE this food!" "It's good." (Nom nom nom) "Well, here's Michael!" And so began our many month journey together. We (and by "we" I mean, mostly "my planning ninja bride" negotiated a contract and price. We talked about menus. We were looking for something a little Southern (representing the bride) and a little Filipino (representing me.) Yeah, probably not the most common of requests, but Michael took it in stride. He asked if my mom had any recipes. I told him, "I don't think my mom has ever written a recipe down." Instead, I went with my other parent, the Internet, and snagged a recipe for lumpia (fried Filipino spring rolls). Our final menu looked like this: lumpia, crab cakes, fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese, tempura shrimp, an antipasto table, chicken kabobs, three kinds of sliders (beef, pork BBQ and falafel) and a mac & cheese bar. Michael initially resisted the mac n cheese bar in favor of a risotto bar, but never, ever underestimate the persistence of a single-minded bride. He eventually relented and finalized the menu. Each item had at least 2 or 3 custom sauces and/or toppings (including some sort of green chimichurri made of angels and unicorn tears, it tasted so good.) Michael even included a custom beverage of our choice which we took him up on, but since we selected Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka cut with water and lemon, it wasn't too labor intensive. We conducted our tasting at Michael's own house. In order to combat the serial wedding tasters, Badda Bing charges $150 for a tasting which is then put towards the cost of the event should they be chosen. Michael also prepared the entire menu we discussed and allowed us to bring extra tasters (because, hey, we needed back up.) Fittingly, this was the only time I ever tasted and savored any of the food as is because, as those of you married folks know, the bride and groom really don't get to eat much. My bride worked on the other aspects of the contract from the number of servers to the place setting rentals, etc. In all, it was fairly reasonable. Keep in mind, I'm of the school of "If it costs over $1000, it better have 1080 resolution," but seeing what we were getting for our money made me feel a little better. My bride made one additional request. After we'd designed the menu, she went gluten-free. She discussed this with Michael; she told him that she wanted to keep the menu as is, but would it be possible to make something for her on the side? "Of course," he replied. And the night of the wedding, he accommodated us with a plate of gluten-free mac and cheese, grilled shrimp, and crab cakes. (Though sadly, I didn't get a chance to try the other stuff since we were sequestered in the back and I only had the GF plate to eat. Oh marriage foreshadowing, what a harsh mistress you are.) By all accounts, the food was a hit. Everyone enjoyed it all immensely. The Filipinos were impressed with the lumpia. The Yankees wept openly at the mac and cheese bar (toppings included chopped bacon, sour cream, scallions, chiffinade of collard greens with chorizo) while the Southerners nodded in approval. Speaking of Southerners, the fried green tomatoes disappeared even faster than the Jack Daniels we served. In all, there was much joy in the room. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to end this lovefest with one minor quibble. The mac and cheese at our tasting didn't quite match up with what was served at the wedding. At the tasting, I tasted an undercurrent of caramelized onion while there wasn't any in the wedding day stuff. Now while I'm the only one to even know or be able to notice this since my bride wasn't able to eat the normal stuff anymore, I was mildly disappointed since the mac and cheese went from "transcendent" to merely "awesome." With a name like "Badda Bing," one thinks of guys named Tony or Pauly sitting at an underlit bar, while unmotivated Jersey Shore girls slink around poles on a stage. When one walks in THIS Badda Bing, one sees a very simple yet welcoming diner, with plenty of natural sunlight coming through the windows, and the warmest greeting you will find around Decatur Square. A polite young waif greets you, not because she has to, but because she wants you to feel welcomed. In the back is perhaps her mother or father, preparing a large catering order to a local business. One feels the warm simplicity, as well as the extra service that is indicative of a family owned business. This place caters lunches for meetings at my work place, so I decided to drop by on this day, to their storefront (next to the Decatur Marta station entrance). First, a word about their catering - they always provide a great spread of sandwiches, from classics like turkey club to interesting ones, like curried chicken salad. Always fresh, good ingredients; simple, yet tasty. Back to the restaurant - on this day, I had the special, which was three(!) portions of chicken in mushroom sauce, mac'n'cheese, and a side of salad. All for $7! The food was wholesome and left you feeling good, like the high after a great, homecooked meal. A great place to grab a quick lunch near Decatur Square. Best soup and sandwich shop in Decatur. Yes, the sandwiches are better than brickstore... lol. Serious sandwich shop, really amazing soup. Try any soup with tomatoes, you'll be happy. Also, very nice people, and a great way to try out what they have to offer on the catering side. And the best part: It's never that busy, it's cozy, and it's in Decatur. It's only open during the day, but if you have to come to Decatur for any reason (even to go to court) this is a great place to grab lunch - and take a friend, they will thank you. I worked with Michael to plan my husband's 60th Birthday Dinner party. I wanted it to be perfect for my husband - and thanks to Michael and his server/helper Jesse and Tanya - it was! The food, service - everything was amazing. I cannot recommend Badda Bing highly enough or give them enough compliments for everything. From Michael's menu planning and working with Tanya on the logistics to Michael's food and service during our dinner party and Jesse's hard work taking care of all the guests. Michael came in and produced and served a wonderful meal and Jesse cleaned up afterward so that you couldn't even tell that we'd just had a 5 course meal. Having Michael explain each course to our guests just gave it an extra special touch. Oh! and my husband made a special request of pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Michael made the most incredible version - the cake was light and moist with a delicious Jack Daniel sauce. Had lunch here today on a whim. I am extremely picky and have wanted to try this place for sometime and was headed on my way to Java Monkey (lunch break from Jury Duty) when I decided to be adventurous. I got the soup and sandwich and while the sandwich was good, the soup was even better and the portions sizes were amazing. The atmosphere and service were extremely welcoming. My daughter and her boyfriend gave me a gift of three meals from Badda Bings. All I can say is WOW. I had my second salmon dinner cooked to perfection with wonderful sides today. I have ordered other meals during the pandemic and these meals are by far the best. I am going to make it a weekly event to get meals delivered from Badda Bings. read more

BE WARNED - Badda Bing has a $2,500 MINIMUM ON FOOD ONLY. Their site says they cater for all size events - "Atlanta Food Management continues to grow out of all this experience and gives the same quality and attention to 200+ people a day as it does to a private wedding for 25 people on a lazy Sunday afternoon in Decatur during the middle of the summer." With this minimum, you would have to spend $100 per person on food alone for them to cater your event of 25 people. Badda Bing does not tell clients this up front. In fact, I was not told this in my first, second, or third conversation with the people at Badda Bing. Given how small an event I was holding, I was concerned about how this would affect their pricing. For this reason, I made multiple requests for a general price range but was told that it totally depended on what I ordered. I was not told about a food minimum until the day of my tasting after hours spent talking and meeting with the people at Badda Bing (Michael, Tanya, and Ashley). Their total charges for food literally doubled simply because of the food minimum. I will not go into every detail of how they mishandled their proposal or mislead me on the pricing, but they were considerably less than gracious in every way. read more

the restaurant is new to downtown decatur, recently moving from the oakhurst district. try the entrees, they are great. the sauces is what makes them perfect. i like how the menu is always changing a little. if you're gonna get a sandwhich get the soup in sandwhich, it's a deal. they don't try to compete with the decatur fancy atmosphere norm, it's a more of a "here's what we do -- hope you like it" type thing. When we booked the historic Decatur courthouse for the event, we next had to look into hiring a caterer. Using local businesses was very important to us, and Badda Bing was a natural fit. From our first correspondence until after our wedding day, Badda Bing was nothing but professional and provided exceptional help to our entire event. Michael form Badda Bing was very helpful in choosing a menu and created something special, catering to our food interests. The food Badda Bing served at our tasting and wedding was AMAZING! We were so happy to have them as our caterer and the entire team at Badda Bing went above and beyond. Our friends and family were thoroughly impressed with the entire event thanks to Badda Bing. I am writing this review because even six months after my daughter's wedding this still really bothers me. I REALLY don't want this to happen to anyone else. We had the reception at a hall where we had to provide everything. We worked for many hours both in person and via email with ASHLEY their "wedding planner". At the last minute, they got another wedding and they were willing to pay the additional $1,200.00 to guarantee that Ashley would be at their reception. The main disappointment of the evening was that the dinner food ran out before all of the guests could eat. It was EXSTREMLY EMBARRASSING. I am not talking about running out in a small way, so many people were affected from one degree to another that I can't even tell you how many it was. People don't want to tell you negative things, but as time has gone on, we have heard of more and more people who either didn't get any of some items or no FOOD AT ALL! How do you run out of mashed potatoes? We're Irish! My brothers-in-law were jokingly chanting, "Potato Famine"! I had talked to Michael prior to our contract about a couple of reviews I had read about people having the food run out. His explanation was that it was their (the customer's) fault. The second biggest disappointment was that there were suppose to be wine glasses at every place and wine poured by the servers. This did not happen. Ashley even order many extra wine glasses at our expense of course. The following list consists of details that were agreed upon, but not followed through on. Perhaps part of the issue is that the lead server was suppose to meet with us and Ashley at the reception site and did not. Each of these items by themselves is not that big of a deal. The problem is that there were SO MANY ITEMS that either were not done or done incorrectly. The biggest problem is that Ashley either did not communicate these details to the head server(s) or no one paid attention to what she provided them. I did see them with a binder, but do not know what it contained. 1. Ashley stated that everything would be ready by 5:30pm. It was not. In fact I later found out from the florist that she had to wait 1 hour for the staff to arrive. She then had to tell them that they were setting the tables wrong! 2. When I arrived the gift table was filled with the costumes for the photo booth. The photo booth people were told by your staff that that was their table. It was suppose to be the gift table. 3. When I arrived there was no coffee/tea table set up. The staff knew nothing about it. 4. The staff could not find the coffee mugs. They finally found the Irish coffee mugs which is what was ordered for coffee/tea. 5. The cake table was not set up correctly. The wedding cake was supposed to be raised up and was not. 6. The groom's cake never got cut up. 7. There was no pomegranate lemonade which was to be provided. 8. I had to tell the staff that the potato "bar" was suppose to have martini glasses. 9. The potato "bar" was lacking a couple of the toppings. 10. I had to tell the staff that they were suppose to make plates of food and serve it to the Bride and Groom. Other things: 1. The label on the signature drink should have said that it contained alcohol. I did have them correct it. 2. People were saving the plastic cups that we had printed as. That's why they were stacked on some of the tables. Your staff threw them away. We purchased 500 and not 1 was left. We ended up taking some out of the garbage so the bride and groom could have a few. 3. Full drinks were taken from the tables while people were dancing. 4. The sashes on the chairs were bows and were just supposed to be folded over. This was on the rental agreement that we were required to sign. I'm sure that some of the items listed above may sound petty, but all of them together was a huge deal. Again, it is clear that there was not the proper communication between Ashley and the staff that was there. Michael was apologetic, but what good does that do? What kind of "compensation" will make up for what occurred? We never heard a word from Ashley. That was also very disappointing. DO NOT USE BADDA BING FOR YOUR WEDDING!!! They were unprofessional, did not follow the contract we agreed upon, and tried to rip us off in the end. I can sympathize with Kathy O., as we unfortunately used them as the caterers for our wedding. We had an a contract for a specific amount to pay them. Because I could not connect with them the day before my wedding, I had my Maid of Honor handle payment. Imagine my surprise when she came to me and said they said it would cost $400 more - something very unexpected I had to deal with on MY WEDDING DAY!!! We later found out it was for them working "overtime." This was a complete lie, as they were taking down tables and boxing us the leftover food - for themseleves! - at 9 PM (we had the venue till 11). My husband and I had to ASK for food, to which they responded "they would have to heat it up." OK, so heat it up, we paid for it! After our honeymoon we came back and had to deal with several issues with Badda Bing. The biggest being that not only did they breach their contract by attempting to charge us extra for "overtime" they did not work, but I calculated they overcharged us by over $700. PLEASE, don't waste your money on such unprofessional, unreliable, horrendously untrusting people. (I would actually give them zero stars.) read more

I really like Badda Bing because you don't just choose your menu from a pre-made catering menu - you sit down with Chef Michael and make a unique menu based on the foods you like and the price range you want to stay in. I did a tasting and the food was very distinctive and tasty. While I ended up not going with Badda Bing because you have to go through a separate company for plates and utensils and it put the price higher that what I wanted to spend, I would still recommend them. read more
