I have lived all over the country and have shopped at BELK for decades. The Cape Coral, Florida store has to be absolute WORST Belk store that I have ever been in. It is a big, beautiful, fully stocked store . . . with virtually NO ONE working in it! Wondered around for 30 minutes looking for a Salesperson --- found a woman at the cosmetics counter playing a game on her phone --- she seemed very 'bothered' about me interrupting her game. If you pay off your Belk credit card in full each month, they hold on to your payment for more than FOURTEEN DAYS IN ORDER TO EARN INTEREST OFF OF YOU! I go here for one thing only and that is the Clinique Products. I usually can find any of the Clinique items I want at their counter. Bonus is that the counter is right inside the door. Added bonus ... they are usually staffed so no need to wander and find a sales person. They do carry other companies makeup ... Lancôme etc., but I stick to Clinique. They appear to have a good line of clothing for both men and women. One day I will explore this store more but it gets the five stars for never being out of what I want to purchase. this store Department Store is very convenient to shop for me. I did like having it here in Cape Coral. Till it came to returning expensive pillows. I bought the bedding there. I could not find my receipt when I brought back! I used my card I asked them to look it up? They couldn't and quoted me a ridiculous price so, I left w my gigantic king size pillows and called the home office to mail me my receipt. It took up to 8 -10 weeks till the receipt came, so back to the store w my mailed receipt and giant pillows Pricing my bedding purchase! The recuept I received was not itemized!!!! And they needed a manager to ok my return hence no manager on premises. So I needed to take my huge pillows back home again I went back a third time and manager not around again.....! I asked them to call the cc company Belks Card! They said they could not! Now I'm getting upset. I don't yell nor do I get angry at to workers I get upset with the stores policies.....I shopped in since they opened in my town. Now I can't see myself walking out carrying my 80.00 per pillow if I got 50% off on my purchase they would be 40.00 per right....im not that lucky so I'm sure I paid at least this and let's say another 20% on top it still at least 30.00 prob more??? I'm not this lucky.... But this store wants me to take 17.00 per pillow. I can not swallow this and they need to do better and their computers gave changed and now that's my fault! Some decent sales in men's clothing. Plenty of service people in the store just not proportioned in departments like they should. There was no one in the home area. Also, the private label towels are normally $12.99 more than the biltmore top end towels at $9.99. Dirty carpets and flooring needs to be buffed. Belk is like Macy's. Mainly clothing, jewelry, accessories, housewares, bedding. This Belk store is on the smaller size and is located in a strip mall next to a Homegoods. However, it is the only Belk in the area. While there isn't anything wrong with this Belk, there really isn't anything to love about it. I always go in there and walk around and look at items but never really see anything that I want to buy. And I like shopping. The housewares section here is tiny as well as the jewelry selection. There is a pretty large Petites section. And for SW Florida, the scarf, gloves, and slipper section was pretty extensive. Customer service is good, even if the store is short on employees (had to walk around until I found a register than was manned). The one other thing that drives me batty is in the newspaper there will be Belk coupons, however it says it's only good with your Belk card. Bad Marketing 101. In a general circulation the coupons should be for all potential customers to drive trial. Send the Belk customers their own coupons. Since I do not have a Belk credit card, I could not use the coupons and thus the one or two items I did want to buy I didn't since I thought the price was too high without the coupon. read more

Belk is a wonderful mid-range department store which carries clothes for men, women and children (including juniors, petite, full figured women and a complete infant to children department. They carry fashion forward clothing that price wise is on par with JC Penny but has a nicer selection, overall. Their shoe department offers a wide variety of options of trendy boots and heels to strappy sandals and chunky heels. If you can't find your size, their friendly staff will offer to order for you from their website. That's a great service. If you're on their mailing list you will receive advance notice of sales, but even if you're not, sales associates keep flyers by all registers to assure customers get he lowest price possibly on their purchases. I know of no other retail outlet that does this. Additionally, if you make a purchase online and it doesn't fit, simply return it to your closest Belk store for a hassle free return or exchange. Belk also rewards their loyal shoppers with Belk dollars, literally free money to spending he store, no strings attached. Check your credit card statements. They have regular sales events were you can really get outrageous deals. I just recently purchased a number of petite cashmere sweaters that were originally marked between $75 and $85 each. After the discounts not one cost more that $4.80! It is difficult at times to find sales associates on the floor but they do have label checkers to help you check a cost yourself when necessary. For that reason I'm giving four stars. More staff would be a big help. Especially in their home gods department which can be hard to navigate and associates should be visible. read more

We moved to Punta Gorda four (4) years ago and I was delighted to find Belk right near me in Cape Coral. The store is always bright and cheery and I like visiting the store. Today, I was looking for a pair of New Balance running shoes and the sales associate, Shae, was so polite and friendly and helped me find my size and color. Whenever I have shopped in other department stores, I am hard pressed to find a sales associate and when I do, they are not as helpful as I would like. Imagine my surprise when I got to the register and they told me I could not use my gift card that was purchased by our daughter. She paid full price for this gift card. They did not challenge the amount that was on the card. They simply said, you can only use a cash card on full priced merchandise. This is not a discount card, this card was paid at 100% face value at Belk! I will use this gift card on full price items and never step foot in a belk again. read more

Being a northerner, this is the only Belk I've been to. It strikes me as a cross between Macy's and Kohls (that is a high end Kohls). This strikes me as a decent fit for the area. The prices are ok; the stock is ok as long as your expectations aren't too high. Customer service is a challenge, though. Its hard to get someone to pay attention and many items must be ordered from the central Belk warehouse, which takes an unbelievably long time. Just moved to Florida so I was not familiar with this chain. The first belk store I went I to was at gulf coast center. This is a great store! I now live in Cape Coral and belk is just around the corner. I was very excited about this due to the fact that I really liked the one at gulf coast. What a disappointment! This store really needs a facelift. All the carpeting is stained and tattered. But the worst thing about this store is the SMELL. The minute you walk in there in an overpowering smell of mildew. At first I thought maybe it was just in one are of the store, but as I walked around the smell remained. In some departments it even got worse. Having been in retail for a major department store, I felt compelled to tell management about this. I explained to them that I really liked the bell chain and that I just wanted to bring something to their attention that they may not be aware of. (Working In the store each day, they probably did not smell it.. Kind of like working in a fishery, you get use to the smell). Anyway, management took great offense to me politely try into tell them of their stores odor. They said I was "crazy" and that their store did not "stink". Can you imagine my surprise when trying to do something good and being called "crazy"? Shoppers, please go to this belk store and if you do find that it has a mildew smell PLEASE tell management. I usually don't give bad reviews but I had a horrible experience with Belk. I purchased several items including 2 beautiful driftwood seahorses,one of which was shipped to my home since the store only had one. However when I got my credit card statement, I had been charged for three. After numerous phone calls and trips to the store I was told that they were not seeing the third charge in their records. I opened a dispute with my credit card company and was finally given a credit after three months of waiting but they refused to give back the full amount I was overcharged. My credit card company was kind enough to makeup the difference. I guess that's why American Express has great customer service and Belks does not. I guess they won't care they lost a good customer. read more
