Cool trendy place! The deli and cheese platter was amazing! Must get as a starter. I also enjoyed the fruit beers. Mussels are the most popular dish there but I didn't try. We finished the meal with a piece of cheesecake and crepes. The server was nice to add an extra scoop of ice cream because the girls were sharing. We really enjoyed our time because of the atmosphere, food and drinks were good!

Moules frites and some pretty stong Belgian beers...about £25 pp all inc for lightweight drinkers.

Classic mussels with celery, white wine and onions.

Stopped here in between a show for a quick bite. We ordered mussels, fries, pickles and bread to share between 2 people. The food is great and it has a great atmosphere.

Pot of mussels and chips / rotisserie chicken (classic) with chips

This is one of my favorite restaurants...ever :)…read more The thing I particularly loved (and I think they're famous for) was the Kasesuppe, or beer soup. It was so rich and flavorful and cheesy and delicious..unlike anything I've ever tried before or since. It's hard to describe exactly what it's like (since it's different from any other soup I've tried) but suffice it to say we both (my boyfriend and I) absolutely loved it. This was on a road trip my bf and I took to Portsmouth btw, and I want to come back to the city just to go to this restaurant again! :) We also got a Croque Reuben (sandwich for me, large portion), Pork Belly (for him), Manniere Moules et Frites (mussels dish - Classic moules with garlic butter, white wine and parsley, served with toasted sourdough), Brugse Zot Sport (beer for him), Kwak (Kwak amber beer, cream, orange and fennel for me) and Orangina. The main dishes of pork belly (Pork belly slowly roasted in Lindemans Apple beer, served with Stoemp and seasonal vegetables, finished with apple beer and mustard reduction) and Reuben sandwich (Grilled sourdough sandwich with Gruyère and Cheddar, sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental and Russian dressing) tasted great, and portions were really generous! Staff were friendly also and it was just a great time :))

"Hoe gaat het?"…read more You'd be forgiven for thinking that a question like this would be greeted by a fond response in a Belgian bar, but, alas not. The Good: The beer is authentically Belgian/Dutch. The nibbles too. The bar staff are friendly. The couches are comfy. The Bad: The bar is a little bit Disneyland Antwerp. The staff aren't equipped with any Dutch. The French radio piped in is very annoying after an hour or so. The Ugly: There is a God awful high-pitched whine when the beer is being poured from tap. So if you're Dutch or Vlaams and you're missing some home comforts stop in, bud don't expect this be become a home away from home.

Befries is such a cool idea and a fun place to go!…read more Basically the only thing they serve is really delicious Belgian fries. They are potato-y, crispy, a good size, and a nice consistency, as well as a great overall flavor. On their own, the fries/chips are super good... but what makes them even better is all of the different dipping sauces that are available to go with them. The sauce options are really unique and all of the ones I've tried were awesome! I also love that there are tons of different sauces to choose from! Also I think they switch out the sauces now and then which also makes it kind of interesting. The place is pretty small so sometimes the wait is a little while and it can get crowded, but it's totally worth it. It seems like most people order to-go, but eating there is much more fun. Plus, if you stay there to eat, you'll be able to sample/order more of the sauces rather than just one or two. I do wish that they had something other than fries, since fries alone aren't really a meal, but I guess that's one reason they are unique. I believe they have different sizes to choose from though, so depending on how big you go it could probably fill you up like a normal full meal would. Also, the staff is very nice, friendly, and helpful. Befries is kind of just an all-around great place.

Being a big fan of chips, I just had to try this place out. When my husband and I arrived, we were…read moreimmediately greeted by a very friendly member of staff. We were soon informed of portions sizes and what sauces were available. We opted for medium portions of chips and several different sauces - sate, frites sauce, garlic mayonnaise, dill & mustard mayonnaise and a few others. We took a seat and very soon after we were brought our food. We were told that if we ran out of any of the sauces to let them know so that they could top us up. I must say that the chips are really very nice indeed. They have just the right ratio of fluffiness to crispness. The sauces are what really make it though - they are absolutely delicious. The sate sauce is particularly nice - so nice that we had to have seconds. The slight downsides are that the only drinks that they have available are bottles that you can buy from a cabinet by the front door which I feel cheapens it a little. Additionally, they could do with a little more seating.
